Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I am curious if its not too personal, how much everyone spend for their overall wedding at Azul sensatori? How much was your room block and total wedding cost? I am just trying to get a rough idea here...

We set a budget of $15,000 for everything including clothes, transportation, our room at AS, 5 day honeymoon of Secrets Silversands, OOT bags and favors, wedding decorations, reception, cocktail parties, flowers, etc. So far, with almost everything purchased are just a little bit over budget. :-)

We also worked with a GIVA planner and got most of the perks listed by CJ1053. (Never heard about the catamaran! That sounds awesome!). We are having the Sky Deck Wedding package which is $1700 extra. We are also doing a private Welcome Cocktail Party with the White Glove Service (about $18/person) a private reception at Plaza Zavas with the BBQ Deluxe menu at $26/ person. I'm also using Caribe Photo Paradise package and MegaDJ. You can see current prices on the Lomas Travel website.

Our guest rooms averaged about $800 for for 4 nights. There are various prices for the different types of rooms but most of my guests have traveled a bit and consider the price pretty good for an all-inclusive. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.

Bottom line. You don't need to spend as much as we have for your wedding or you can spend a lot more. There are many options. We set our budget and then planned accordingly.

We ended up spending around $20,000 for everything... from the wedding shoes to the honeymoon!

As another bride mentioned, we just kept the thought in mind that to have a wedding at home it would have been triple the cost. For the price we paid we literally got everything we wanted and it was fabulous! I honestly suggest a destination wedding to all my friends, it's really the way to go! A lot of my engaged friends are now planning destinations after seeing ours... SO exciting!!

No, you can not bring sparklers on a plane.

We got the small sparklers from the resort and they were $1 each. However, do NOT get the small ones - they literally lasted a second which was such a waste although it was pretty funny. I don't remember how much the large ones are but definitely get those!

Are there mexican vendors on the beach? There were some at azul fives. I'm thinking about getting my bridesmaids those mexican embroidered dresses as my bm gift and I'm hoping someone will be selling them on the beach so I don't have to take a taxi anywhere.

There were a bunch of vendors setup at the resort one night. I didn't get a chance to check it out but they may have the dresses you want!

My heart just dropped!!!  The set up fees are insane! I am bringing my gazebo sheers, chair sashes, table runners, napkins, some glitter painted wine btls and peacock feathers.  I am using a florist off the resort because the flowers are only a fraction of the cost of lomas but my FI needs to go to the security gate (2-3 miles) to pick them up.

I have asked over and over again about the set up fees.  My karisma planner knows I intend to bring my own items (sheers included bc I asked for measurements).  My most recent reply was that it is max $5 per person per event.  So with my small wedding the total should be no more than $250.

I'm tired of the emailing back and forth.  I'm not going to fight it now... they will have to deal with me in person bc if they dare say I have to pay $600 to hang some sheers...so help me God I will go bridezilla.  This resort is downright awful.  Ive read all the reviews that when u get there its so great...but the journey leading up to it has been one of the worst experiences I can remember. If you are a bride with a large budget you will love this place...bc all they want is money.  Who do they think they are trying to charge $600?!?!?!  Isn't it $100-$150 to rent and have lomas setup?

I think its bullshit that you cant set up your own items.  I have family & friends who have volunteered to help out.

I am only a couple weeks away from my arrival down there.  With all the money I am paying to stay there, things better go smoothly.  I am at my wits end when it comes to dealing with this company and I feel bad for the on site coordinator bc if these sudden costs pop up...He will be sorry he ever met me.

If it weren't so late in the game I would have taken my business elsewhere.

BTW...when are u getting married? are u at sensatori or another karisma resort?

 Sorry to scare you. I'm definitely stressing over all these extra costs. My wedding is in exactly one month from today - April 25, 2014. When is yours?

I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to give in and either not have some stuff I want or just eat the cost. I'm hoping the onsite coordinator is more compassionate and reasonable.

What florist are you using? I already ordered mine through the resort but I'm curious how much I would have saved.

Keep me posted on how your wedding goes and if you have any recommendations - I'm only a few weeks behind you.

Good luck and congrats!

So you were able to get your sparklers from the resort? My WC told me they are not allowed and they would not supply them.... Who did you work with? I'm wondering if I should reach out to someone else....

Oh and did you have to use them in a specific spot at the resort?

Thanks!

I ordered them through my Miami based WC, Lynda. She added them to my detail sheet and the WC Olga who helped me on the day of our wedding brought them out at the end of our reception at Plaza Zavaz as a 'farewell/ send off'. We weren't restricted to any area in particular. I've seen other brides have them on the beach too!

18 more days to go til the wedding. Who told you about all the extra fees? Like the $600 for hanging the sheers?

My FL coordinator has asked me to send her a list of what im bringing but I've decided not to.  At this point I have in emails that I wont be charged more than $250. So I am going to leave it at that...so if I get down there and they try to tell me these outrageous costs I can say I was never told about them...plus I have the emails asking about the lengths for sheers...so if they try to charge me I can fight it and say I wasn't told it would be xtra & my consultant definitely had the opportunity to inform me.

As for florist...I'm using Marvin with Maya Floral.  He saved me a ton of money!  If I remember right-

Lomas Quotes

My bouquet= 350

bridesmaids= 225

centerpieces= 350

Marvin Quotes=

Me= $180

Bridesmaids= 65

centerpieces= 75

so yeah...he has normal prices vs. the inflated lomas costs.

Talicea,

Do you have Marvin's contact information? Those prices are great. How many centerpieces did you order?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
