KateMZ- our wedding is right before yours (Feb 12) and we will be there on the 16th still! OMG- 1 month until the wedding and less than a month until we leave! Panic is starting to set in! Anyone have advice about Mexican customs? What do I need to all take with me and is it best to disperse our favours, decorations, etc amongst people or easiest to keep it all with us?

I've heard it's best to have all receipts with you and documentation that you are a bride and not a vendor! Someone else on a board said the retail cost of goods brought in can't exceed $300 per couple, but I haven't confirmed that anywhere.

this is true. so a married couple can have $600 total, doesn't matter how it's distributed. if it's two friends traveling together, it needs to be distributed to $300 each. the amounts represent what you can have as "gifts" - not your personal items. so these would be your favors, your OOT bag items, etc. now, how closely they monitor this is very subjective - we went through with 5 pieces of luggage and my dress, and both of us got the "green light" at customs - zero questions. My mom also carried a suitcase of stuff through, and they had zero questions about it either. but i have heard of brides who have been pulled aside and asked for their receipts. it's definitely better to be prepared!!

here's the information on the Mexico page of the US State Dept. site:

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html

Customs Regulations: Please refer to our information on customs regulations. U.S. citizens bringing gifts to friends and relatives in Mexico should be prepared to demonstrate to Mexican customs officials the origin and value of the gifts. U.S. citizens entering Mexico by land borders can bring in gifts with a value of up to $75.00 duty-free, except for alcohol and tobacco products. U.S. citizens entering Mexico by air or sea can bring in gifts with a value of up to $300.00 duty-free. Please refer to Mexicoâ€s customs guide for passengers for more information, including on requirements to declare cash or other financial instruments exceeding the equivalent of $3000 U.S. dollars.

Hi!! I don't have a lot of time at the moment to answer any of your questions but I wanted to say hi while I was on here and saw your post bc I am getting married 3 days after you so we will be at the resort at the same time! How exciting! We should def meet up when we are there. What are your wedding colors/themes? Maybe we can help each other out and coordinate some things!

Hi MK0386,

I'm so happy to know that there's someone else here that's getting married at AS around the same time as me. Nice to have someone to plan with and we should definitely meet up. When do you arrive at the resort?

I have not decided on colours yet but I'm sure I definitely want to incorporate purple. Maybe purple, gray and blue but that's not very beachy. Or purple and teal. What do you think?  What are your colours?

Have you started planning a lot yet? I feel like I'm so behind. I barely have anything set and ready to go.

Could I ask..Does anyone know any websites where I can order 'save the date' invites..looking for pinks, greens oranges..xx

I think some of the other ladies have answered already, but if you do a Google search there are lots of options. We personally used Vistaprint to make STD magnets. You can try any of the printing houses, even Staples locally. Or try etsy for a more personal touch. You can also visit a local Michael's craft store, they have packages where you can print them at home yourself. Good luck!

We just got home from our wedding week on Sunday and I cannot say enough how happy I was with how everything went at Azul Sensatori. We had a small group of people that were there with us and everything went fantastically! We got married on the Sky Deck and had our private reception at Spoon. The food was absolutely delicious and all of our guests were ranting and raving at how good it was. I read on here a bunch of times that the cake wasnt that great but I honestly thought it was one of the best cakes I have ever had in my life. We went with a non traditional flavor of strawberry cake with strawberry filling (I had read another bride somewhere say that she had a tasting and it was delicious, she was so right!) I am going to post a few pics here and then I will do a full review.

So glad to hear everything went well! The photos are great. Look forward to seeing your review.Congratulations on becoming a MRS! cheers.gif

Hello ladies!!!

I feel like I've been MIA for awhile here :s 30 days to go for me, and panic has started to set it.  I'm done all the major things, but now fretting over the small details that I know don't really matter but which I'd like to see done, haha.

Anyone experience their WC trying to force the final payment without everything being finalized? I'm slightly irritated because I was the one that brought up the topic after I realized the 45 day rule had passed, but I have still a few details to sort, so I don't want to pay until everything is really set.

Anyone else not reaching their weight loss goals? Slightly depressed about it, but I guess I'll have to be happy as is :P

I did not pay until I was satisfied that everything was correct on my detail sheet. If I remember correctly I think I ended up paying about 25 days before. ** Also make sure that you print out and take with you the finalized detail sheet. When we had arrived at AS to meet with our WC, they did not have the most up to date sheet!

As for the weight....we all have goals, and usually with all the stress and life going on it doesn't necessarily work out. I know I had a goal, and although I worked hard for it, never did get to the final goal. But my dress fit, I felt good, and at the end of the day I was having fun, and not worried about it! hug2.gif

- ordered 30 white paper lanterns (from JustArtifacts) for ceiling of Zocalo Al Fresco - need to find LED lights for in them. I've heard that this location is fairly dark for pictures.

- re-confirmed photographer from Caribe

I plan on posting pictures of DIY projects when they are completed. Happy planning to all of you!!

You are correct that Zocalo is a little dark, but it is a beautiful spot to host your wedding reception. Just wanted to also give you  a heads up, the ceiling is very high at Zocalo, so I am not sure they can hang the lanterns from the ceiling confused.gif I don't want you to be disappointed.... Perhaps another bride can confirm this. There are some star lanterns hanging there, so perhaps they can hang them under those???

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I'd share our save the date for our wedding. It was SUPER easy to do, we just had a camera which took pictures 2x per second (my poor sis-in law had to hold the button down for us the whole time!), then uploaded it to windows movie maker to create a stop motion movie and edited out the pictures in between our costume changes, etc. We had SO much fun doing it, and got an amazing response from our guests. I wish we would have already decided on the Azul Sensatori at the time we made it, but it was just as effective without the location! Total costs for our save the date - $0!!

Super cute! Love this idea.

Have you been assigned a wedding coordinator yet? They'll send you a packet with this information.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
