Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Thanks so much murmel! Yes, I do want to go down to the market in Cancun and buy vases, but I'm nervous b/c what if they don't have the type I'm looking for. I planned on using real touch stems submerged in glass square vases [various shapes/sizes] with floating candles. Do you think I'd definitely have a variety to choose from down there? If I purchase flowers off the resort, do you think they'll have an issue with me using them? But actually if i picked them up that means going off the resort the morning of my wedding, never mind LOL

Also, do you happen to know anything about the legal ceremony in Mexico, and if it's legal in the US? I see you're in Canada, so not sure if you'd know, but I'm at a loss here. Everyone i talk to seems to give me a different answer. If it won't be recognized in NY, I would rather just do a symbolic ceremony. I heard somewhere all we have to do is get the Mexican wedding license registered at our city hall and it's legal in US, but not sure if this is true & it's really the only step I'd have to do. I appreciate the help, if you can =)

Thanks!!!

The centerpieces are very expensive. However I am not sure if you could have someone bring in centerpieces without having to pay the outside vendor fee :(

Depending on how many flowers you wanted you might be able to find a florist in Cancun and just pick them up and bring them back??? But unfortunately I don't have any experience with that. We got out of renting the centerpieces by buying large vases in Cancun for super cheap, and then just filling them with limes and water. Could you bring some real touch/or fake flowers with you to use? What are your wedding colors? Maybe we can figure out an alternative that will not cost you too much wink.gif

GinaP - During you meeting with your wedding coordinator, make sure you tell them to light the candles on the table. They should do this automatically but in case they do not make sure you tell them. Also, I would suggest designating a person (a close family/friend but a non-wedding party memnbert) to make sure they are lit. Ask an aunt or uncle or cousin or parent. Just ask them to check the candles on the table when they sit down for the reception.  If they are not lit, ask them to tell one of the staff members. Honestly, I should have been better at delegating tasks. Now that you know ahead of time, you will learn from my mistakes. :)

GinaP - one more thing to add.... i only had candles and very small lavendar flower petals which i found at Michaels as my centerpieces. I kept it really simple b/c I realized 20 years from now, I will not care what i had for my centerpieces. Plus I had family style dinner so the plates of food were places right in the middle. For me, centerpieces were not a big deal, Of course this will not work for all brides.

Tkuzma - thanks  I will a few pics in a bit! :)  We had strawberry cake. It was really bad and my husband and I actually laught about it. We ended up wearing most of it anyway so.... My guests had plenty of desserts since I went with family style.  My reception was at the Plaza Zavaz. We lucked out with weather! Perfect weather during the whole time we stayed! :)

Just wondering, I am working with Elizabeth Riff, who has been FANTASTIC!  But since Thanksgiving I haven't heard a peep from her and I've emailed her 3 times, all about different things.  My final payment is due next week and I have decided to add a few things and want to be sure I have included everything on the detail sheet, but I haven't heard back from her.  I finally called today and left a message.  Has anyone heard if something has happened or is there a reason I haven't heard back from her?  It's just very uncharacteristic.  Also, not sure if anyone has had any experience with it or not, but there is NO WAY I am making that final payment without talking to someone again....how strict are they at enforcing that final payment date?

Hey Rachel, Elizabeth's been out of the office for the past few weeks -- her dad died this past weekend. I think she's expected back on Monday. Fabio has been handling her email, but I know they're very behind. I wouldn't worry too much about being past the deadline because of the situation.

Thanks Kathryn!  I had gotten the bounce-backs that she was out of the office, but it kept looking like she was back and then out again.  I haven't heard anything from Fabio.  I wouldn't be too concerned except for that final payment.  I'm sorry to hear about her dad, I just figured there had to be some sort of explaination.

Are you using a travel agent? If so, I would involve them. I find that my agent can reach people at the office much faster that I can.

I am, however, she's pretty terrible!  lol  I don't think she would get much done.  She's pretty much written me off since we've all paid in full for our trips at this point.  If I don't hear back from Elizabeth or someone on Monday then maybe I'll see if my travel agent can do anything.  I'm sure I can always call the main office as well.

Do you have Fabio's extension? PM me if not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
