Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Kathryn!

We'll be arriving May 12th. From Fresa, I was interested in having them do our cupcakes & cake pops, dessert table items, etc. The decorations for the most part we're bringing from home b/c I refuse to pay Lomas prices and really don't like what they offer.  Thanks for offering, so generous of you!!

I've put off wedding stuff for a bit and been away from this thread, so just catching up...thank you ladies so very much for the kind words and support re: lame bridesmaid.  Still kind of hurts, but am focusing on the positive :) lazarach, that is so smart! I must look into whether I can save money this way! Anyone else notice the 2013 pricing has gone up even more? Anyone have Erika Torres as their WC? I had Amanda previously. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday :)
I have Erika Torres as my WC! She has been ok so far, she told me we could not have the Free Sweet package though and was not willing to do much about it. She has answered all of my questions but does not get back to me as fast as my last WC, usually takes a few days at least. But overall it has been ok, we haven't had to do much with here lately. Hope this helps and let me now what ya think!

I just found out yesterday that Erika is now my WC because Amanda is leaving the company.  I found Amanda to be great - always very thorough in her responses and my details sheet is impeccable.  Hopefully, things will be smooth with Erika.  To be honest, I'm pretty easy going though!   And I've been taking past brides advice when they say that all the small details get worked out when you arrive and meet with your on-site WC.

On another note......being from Canada and using Canadian dollars to pay for this wedding I was thinking of putting a couple of thousand dollars on our account because our dollar is now strong compared to the US dollar (and my father just gave us a nice cheque to help with the expenses).  Has anyone paid early before?   Does this seem like a good or bad idea?

Also.......for past brides............we'd like to do a catamaran sunset cruise from Maroma beach instead of a formal meet-and-greet dinner.  On the cruise there will be appies and bar, but what about our guests having dinner?   Should I just suggest that they have a late dinner at the resort once we get back - or grab an early dinner before we leave.  I do see that you can have a dinner on the beach at the end of the cruise but that doesn't seem appropriate for a larger group.  Any suggestions?

Another thing......I sent out our invitations last week. I will try to upload a pic because I love them so much!

And since I'm on a roll........I've decided to do my own wedding day make-up and have been practicing with all my new products from Sephora (getting pretty good)  also on youtube I've been watching tutorials by MissChievious.    A couple of tips that many of you probably know:  SPF and mineral makeup reflect light in photos so avoid these.  Use a brush to apply your foundation - it goes on so smooth and natural looking.  Also, I am definitely getting lash extensions applied before going to mexico - no mascara needed!

Okay I'm done!

I would not pay until the deadline, once they have your money you cannot change things easily or move stuff around. However one way to keep the dollar value up would be to open a US cash bank account. I know RBC and Scotiabank have them. All you do is open the account, and then deposit your money into it. It is converted to US dollars and remains in US dollars. I would think that you could then take that money directly out later in US dollars to pay your balance. Or you could purchase US traveller's cheques and pay with those.

Good luck!

Hey Jenna!!!! Your big day is approaching! Hope you're all set & ready to go pinkie.gif

How long are you going for, before/after the wedding?

I am so thrilled to see another bride-to-be headed down to the AS!

I'm sure you're super busy with everything you have to do before leaving, so if I don't get a chance again, congratulations & best wishes!

I hope you have an amazing trip, a beautiful wedding, and we'll all be thinking of you on your special day!!!

Seatkins -

Can you give more information about the sunset cruise from Maroma beach? I'm definitely interested in doing something like that! how many guests are you having?

Thanks!

I have had Erika since the beginning. She takes a couple days to respond to emails but I feel like her responses are thorough. No complaints so far. cheesy.gif

I have Erika Torres as well. She's ok. Takes long to get back to us and isn't as helpful as I'd like.

My wedding is in a few weeks and we still have no flowers. I have mine but my fiance doesn't want to pay for the bridesmaid's I was hoping to get Fresa but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Has anyone done the Exotic Gazebo?  It's a MUCH better deal if you are doing white sheers.  You get the sheers (wrapped around the poles), two large floral corsages and rose petals from 48 roses for $250.  Just white sheers and 2 large corsages are $320.  Murmel you mentioned that you didn't have them wrap the sheers around the posts.  I asked my coordinator, even though you said not too ;), and she said that you had to wrap them.  Will it really not be a problem when I get with the onsite coordinators to have them left loose?  Also....the exotic gazebo has a thatched roof, is that something they put on the gazebo at Sensatori if you choose the exotic package?  Because the gazebo there is plain.  If there is no thatched roof added, do you know what the top of the gazebo would look like if you did have them wrap the sheers around?

Also, I want my wedding to be at sunset, so we've scheduled it for 5:00 at the end of January.  Sunset begins at 4:50 and is set at 5:30...this will make for amazing wedding photos I figure.  My question is....what do you think I should do about pictures of my FI and I?  Should we try and do "first look" photos before the wedding to have sunlight, is there enough light at the resort to do the majority of pictures after the wedding?  I figure we'll do individual family pictures prior to the wedding just trying to get my head around the timeline of the rest of them and the amount of light there will be and the amount of light required!  Has anyone seen "post sunset" pictures taken at the resort?  Have any ideas where I might find some?

Someone mentioned, possibly in this thread, or maybe in reviews I read that they purchased bottles of liquor duty free and brought them into the resort to make their drinks stronger.  I don't need stronger drinks, I don't think cheesy.gif, but my parents have gotten a honeymoon suite and we would like to do a little entertaining on the amazing balcony.  I checked with my coordinator to see if we could purchase liquor from them and do it that way but they do not allow that in the rooms.  Do you think it would be a decent idea to buy liquor in Mexico and just have it in the room?  I'm not talking about throwing a raging party or anything in the room, just a place people could hang out since my sister will have my 6 month old niece with her....and of course when we hang out we would like to have some drinks!

Thanks for any info/advice/direction you've got!

Hey Rachel!

I can't be of much help on the exotic gazebo info- I didn't even know they had that LOL

But, for pictures, remember that you're photographer is a professional- He/she can make the darkest of nights look like sunrise! I've seen some amazing images shot during dusk and they are spectacular! One I remember seeing [not sure where, I'll try to find] is when it was pouring rain on the beach and the shot taken you would have NEVER known- plenty of light and the rain actually made the picture even better! I would say Google images so you can see firsthand what can be done at different times of day. I would also ask your photographer, after all, they will know better than anyone! They will be sure to get the best shots at the perfect time! The first look prior to the wedding, completely up to you- I know some brides are a big "no" when it comes to seeing to FI before walking down the aisle. I think I will do the first look b/c it's those raw moments & emotions between just the two of you that I want to have forever. I want to walk down the aisle w/o crying my eyes off seeing him LOL But it's a personal choice, but either way any moment will be right and your photographer will know it =)

Buying duty-free liquor is a great idea!!! You can also take a trip into the towns by the resort for liquor, but I'm not sure which one will be cheaper- I'd go duty-free b/c they can't rip you off haha!

I think it's a good idea to have a little something in your room for when you have guests come by and just want to relax on that gorgeous balcony!! And for those who aren't happy with the strength of drinks being made on the resort, tell them to ask the bartender to double up on the liquor and throw him a few bucks ;) I wouldn't worry so much about this, b/c if guests want stronger drinks they'll ask or drink more LOL

Hope this helps

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
