I am having my reception at the Plaza Zavas. I am also having my cocktail hour on the beach.

- paper lanterns: 20-25 paper lanterns is what I've read most people bring. I am using a combination of paper lanterns and tissue flower balls. I ordered my lanterns at saveoncrafts.com. The website also has battery operated lights you can put in some of the lanterns.
- lights: I am bringing my own lights. Just using the white christmas strand lights.

I have a question about some decorating ideas. We have had to change where we are having our private dinner reception b/c we have more people coming thatn we initially thought. So we have moved it to Plaza Zavas...which I think is absolutely gorgeous in pics! So I wanted to get some feedback on decoration ideas for this space. We are bringing our own centrepieces down but need everything else.

- paper lanterns: I love how these look in photos. I am assuming past brides have brought them down with them? Approx how many do you think you would need to fill the space nicely? And I notice some light up, are these the LED throwies I have been reading about? Any good websites you can reccommend for cheap, decent quality lanterns?
- lights: my WC said we can rent rope lights for $50/pole from Lomas.....any other ideas?
- pool: If I am not mistaken, this is located right next to the pool right? Has anyone put anything to float in the pool? Not sure if they would allow it?

Any other ideas? One more thing, we were going to have our cocktail party at Plaza Zavas and reception in Zocalo Alfresco but since we have moved the reception to Plaza Zavas, should we move the cocktail party to the beach or somewhere else? Thanks so much for the help! Happy planning!!

- Paper Lanterns. I am bringing 30 I bought from justartifacts.com. I am making my own LED throwies.

- $50 per pole for the string lights is a rip off. I'm bringing those as well. You can get them for about $15 a string if you wait until the end of season sales.

- We are having our reception at Plaza zavas as well. I asked about floating candles and the WC they were ok. I bought 25 from justartifacts.com as well.

- We are having the ceremony at Zocalo beach (far left side if looking at the water). Guests will then go to the right side of beach to the Yoga platform for the cocktail party then up those stairs to Plaza Zavas. I wanted everything to flow nicely instead of dragging guests around the resort. This was the best option.

Hope this helped! :)

Hi Nicci! The resort charges a ridiculous fee to deliver to each guests room [ i think btwn $5-$7 EACH room].

Instead of paying this insane fee, we'll be having a welcome party a few days before the wedding which is where we'll have the welcome bags.

We'll probably have a table set up for all the bags & label each with guests' names so we are sure everyone got theirs, and those who missed it we can hand deliver.

Hope this helps =)

We had or reception here....it is just as beautiful in person! We brought our own lanterns with us? We had 20 altogether (5large 16" blue, 5 small 10" white, 5 large white, 5 small blue). We ordered them from paperlanternStore.com. We got the ones with lights attached to save hassle of trying to make our own led lights. We opted away from adding white Christmas lights. Between pool lights, and 4small candle votives per table, these lit up the area well. We paid $140 with shipping, opposed to Lomas who charges just that for 4 white plain ones. We had the pool behind our sweetheart table and Behind the reception. I'm not sure if they will allow you to out anything in it. We did use the pool at the end for a great pic of our bridal party jumping in, little did we know all the wedding guests decided to join us. Great time, and great photos....but security wasn't to thrilled.... They do not like swimming after hours in pool. Bringing down the lanterns wasn't to bad either. Not sure what airlines you are using, but we took United and were allowed to each check in a bag for free. One bag was devoted to lanterns and batteries. Lanterns come folded up, and all fit in a large suitcase. We even had wedding staff put batteries in for us. Just pack fishing line, and they will take care of it all. Happy planning!!!

As far as your cocktail hour, they will have your reception all set up for you already. If you don't mind having the cocktail the same as reception, I'm sure they will let you keep it. We had our cocktail hour on the beach and really enjoyed the spot. We had some photos done right there on the beach, and still enjoyed plenty of time with our friends and family. Hope this helps!!

We handed ours out to all of Our guests. The WC can give you a list of all your guests room numbers, and we took a few with us around when we knew guests were arriving and delivered ourselves. Saved us money and was nice to meet up with guests as they arrived.
