The resort is beautiful, the service was excellent, the food was sooo good and most important the wedding was amazing! I will write a more detailed review as soon as possible, but in the mean time ignore the nasty people on TripAdvisor :)
Congratulations! I'm glad it went well. I can't wait for your review for more details and to see some pics!

Please share how you are only paying $1000 for photos, dj and guitarist. Are you using friends or outside vendors?

Sorry, didn't make that clear, we are coming to under $8000, that includes: Private event set menu dinner ($60 for surf & turf, bar service, dessert, no cake) for 55 people, our photographer (we chose the under $1000 package and a family member will video us) a classical guitarist for the ceremony, a DJ for the private dinner, 10 tiki torches, extra chairs for the ceremony (and bows) a colorl runner and color sheer drapping, rose petals, flowers for the bride, 5 bridesmaids and flowers for moms, guys and an extra bouquet for one table (the girls are putting their bouquets in a rented vase for the table centerpieces). That also includes some hair styling, manicures, brides massage. Extra beyond total is: $40 for place marks (we are painting and bringing sand dollars for seating place marks),we are buying cigars in town for the men, and making gift bags for the wedding party. Wedding clothing is also not in the total $8000 either.

Hope this helps!

Thanks in advanced for your help!
We did not use the DJ, we used our iPod and it was good in my opinion. Yes, you do have to "run" your iPod all night but it was totally fine. we had a relaxed crowd and we danced and danced all night long. They are VERY strict about the 11pm end time.

Hi Andrea, did you notice with a beach reception if there was anywhere to hang chinese lanterns? I'm having them on my tables as part of the centerpieces and thought it might be nice to hang a few around the reception area too...thanks!

I too, had Chinese lanterns on the tables for both the cocktail reception (on the beach) and the dinner reception in the plaza. There really isn't any place to hang lanterns so we put them on the bar table, the gift table and cake table to spread them out a bit. I would guess that by next November that Lomas Travel might have poles and rope to "rent" for this exact reason. Maybe you could even suggest it to someone there.
Did you buy the ones with the LED lights? If not, I would get the battery powered tea light candles to put it them. We bought the LED ones but did not like the bright light at all so we bought the battery tea lights and put them in instead. You can get a huge pack from Costco for a great price.

Andrea, you are my idol! i haven't bought them yet, I found a store online to buy them from and have been debating on what size lantern (10/12/14 inch - what did you have?) and trying to figure out if I can hang them around the area elsewhere so I buy enough and not have to make 2 orders. I was looking at the LED tealight ones...I didn't realize there are 2 different kinds...I'll have to investigate that further.

My plan was to have the lantern in the middle, some LED tealights scatteredd around the lantern (1 per person at table as I was thinking of getting them engraved and using as favors) and then red rose petals scattered amidst the tealights. I want to make sure there's enough light as I don't want people complaining they can't see what they're eating (I can just hear my dad!) but I don't want it to be SO bright! I'm thinking of getting some and doing a test run here first to see if I want to make any changes.

Do you have some photos of your reception? I would LOVE to see them! (Well, I know all of us would LOVE to see all your photos!)

THANKS!!!!!! :)

Any thoughts on why Karisma hasn't posted rates past 10/31 on their website? It's a bit frustrating because I'm trying to determine if we're getting a good rate from our TA, and I have nothing to compare it to. Shouldn't November rates be available now!?!? Maybe they're waiting to get a better handle on the economy, the resort, and demand?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
