THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. MY NOTES IN CAPS :)

Quote:

I will fill in what I can:

1) we booked with a GI agent (not DW.com), and were also told we could be upgraded. In the end they offered us the honeymoon suite, but we would then have lost our swimup premium room, so we passed. From my understanding, it really depends of hotel capacity at the time if they can accomadate you. I don't understand why you have to be in building 3 though??? You could simply walk over for the wedding ceremony. We stayed in the premium section, and I walked clear across the resort to our wedding spot by the pier. I HAVEN'T HEARD ABOUT AN UPGRADE BUT I'M HOPING WE GET ONE. I PERSONALLY WANT TO BE IN BUILDING THREE SO I CAN GO STRAIGHT FROM MY ROOM TO THE SKYDECK...AND CAN FRESHEN UP AFTER THE CEREMONY :)

2) we did one of the set menu options. We gave our guests the choice between the mahi-mahi and pork. I also made it very clear that if they did not respond by a certain date, they would automatically be served the pork. This saved me from having to chase people down. We had absolutely no problems with speed of service. It actually went quite well for us. The only thing I would maybe have complained a little, was that the food was not hot. We had 63 guests, at the Zavas Plaza. OK, GOOD TO KNOW!

3) They do have premium liquor, most of the time it is hidden below the bar or in the back room. However we were not successful in ever seeing Grey Goose or Patron. If you plan on putting booze into the gift bags, you will have to give them to your guests yourself. They will not deliver items with booze in them....since technically you are not suppose to bring alcohol onto the resort. As long as you are aware, it should not be an issue. We brought a few good bottles of scotch and had them in our room. There was no problems there. OK, SO THERE'S HIGHER END ALCOHOL BUT YOU HAVE TO REQUEST IT. I KIND OF EXPECTED THAT. AND WE PLAN ON GIVING OUT OUR WELCOME BAGS AT OUR WELCOME PARTY THURSDAY NIGHT (WEDDING IS ON SATURDAY). A COUPLE BOTTLES IN OUR ROOM MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TOO...

4) The grooms' room is part of any of the wedding packages. (including the free wedding) But again, it is only available if there are rooms free. Also make sure to request it! We didn't want it, since my husband got ready in one of the other guys room (they had the massive balcony). But they did bring up a selection of bottles of booze and mix to our friends room (part of the groom's room bonuses).....strange though the bride doesn't get booze. Sigh....that's why I had other girls running to get me drinks all day! LOL - YAY, GREAT NEWS ABOUT GROOM'S ROOM, THAT'S AWESOME. I'LL MAKE SURE TO REQUEST, HOPEFULLY IN OCTOBER SPACE WON'T BE AN ISSUE. UM AND YEA, IF THE GUYS GET THE LIQUOR, WE SHOULD TOO. OR AT LEAST SOME CHAMPAGNE!! CAN YOU ORDER COCKTAILS VIA ROOM SERVICE?

THANKS AGAIN!

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately on my date only Erick is available.

I loved Citalli photographs. Her style was by far my favourite. I do like Ericks photos they look good. Its just a very big decision.

Thanks

Jesse, My hubby and I were in the prem section with one other couple that were guest of ours. all you have to do is request a cabana from the pool butler when you get out there. You tell him your room number. then about 10 of our friends came over from their regular rooms and they did serve them. I think as long as it's not too crazy. i will say the service by the pool butlers can be fast or really slow pretty much depends on the demand :) But no they were not strict

*do you know if none of my guests are booked in premium (they aren't any yet), do we not get to use that pool? Are they strict?

Jesse...your questions are raising questions of my own.....

1. I recall someone saying on here they don't do a rehersal for the ceremony, they meet up with the groom to go over a few things before hand (which scares me a little, Chris won't be on the most up and up like I would be, you know?)

My wedding party aren freaking out a little...especially my german bridesmaid (they dont' have a wedding party in Germany).  Did any of you ladies just do one of your own?  Will they do one if you request it??  (does that mean you decide who stands/sits where....is there a side the bride is supposed to be on vs. the groom???)

2.  Premium alcohol:  Is it served at any/every bar?  You just have to request it?  (does this include the private functions?)  Is it of extra cost?

3.  Traveling with Alcohol....how does this work?  Do you just put it in your luggage???  (or did you buy it at the airport?)...I NEVER buy liqour at the airport, nor have traveled with it, so have no clue. huh.gif

4.  Sunset:  I looked up sunsets in October, and it says 6:15(ISH)  - We are having our cocktail reception on the beach, and the dinner/reception will follow at 7pm......do you there will still be some sort of light at around 7pm?  or does 6:15p sunset mean its gone at that time?   If its dark, do I need to worry about lighting on the beach?????  Does anyone know what the beach lighting options are?  (do they automatically do it for a private function?) - what do they have?

Thanks Maggie - do they not have waiters serving you in other parts of the pool? I just expected there would be, there has been at every other resort I've been to...or are you saying they allowed your guests to be at that pool/cabana? And right now NOBODY is staying in a premium room so we might not be at that pool at all I guess..

They do not have waiters pool side at any pool except the Prem one.

Also the premimum pool dumps into the main pool bar on that side of the resort so they aren't really that strict at all. Just make sure you have a room number in the prem section and your good to go. To be honest we went there one day but then ended up over at the other smiw up bar and pool area the rest of the time because our group grew to like 20 -30 people at a time and we thought that might be a bit too much for the prem section to handle. The poolside butlers could be slow and the bartendars at the poolbars were faster

It was Really fun either way!!!

HAIR FLOWERS:

Ladies, are you planning/wore a real or fake hair flower?  I am undecided, and it seems everyone goes with fake.  Please share your reasonings as to why you chose what you chose/or are choosing.

I like the idea that fake is lighter, and obviuosly won't wilt, and can then be a keepsake, but I just LOVE fresh flowers and hadn't even dreamed of fake.  Will it look silly with fake in hair, real in hand???  what if the colors don't match???

Hi Mwise17! It's a very fair question and I can offer you my input/advice based on two different sides of the house. First off, I was a destination wedding bride last year and chose to wear a real hair flower. Looking back on it, I wish I would have chosen an artificial hair accessory. The flower stayed for the night but it was disappointing to not have a keepsake of such an important day. In addition, I was still charged (to be honest I can't recall exactly how much) for the hair flower on top of the bouquets and boutonnieres. It's quite an investment for flowers and I would have loved to have something to take away from that. I personally do not think there would be any clashing with wearing an artificial flower and having fresh flowers for your bouquets. I would say as long as you aren't trying to exactly match your fresh flowers, it would be great to have the contrast! I've started to design "Exotic Hair Couture" which I'd love you to check out here: http://www.redibychelsea.com/?page_id=2502. Please note that I'm always happy to customize anything (I hand-make everything myself) and I'm going to begin designing "Trash the Dress" Hair Couture as well (so brides can also have that keepsake from such special photos). I hope this helps and coming from being a bride who did this and now a designer, I feel like I have both perspectives so hopefully that helps :)

Thanks!

Chelsea

Also Look into Real Touch Flowers - ALL of my flowers including my bouquet were fake and looked so real. I used an ETSY seller and she made a custom arrangement for me for a fraction of the price. I even had a hard time convincing Mexican customs they weren't real. I had to take them out of the plastic and show them. If you want to check it out here is her store. i am sure she can make a hair piece as well http://www.etsy.com/shop/modagefloral

Plus I now have my bouquet in a vase on a shelf and I love it! Reminds me of what a good time we had everyday :)

I know this question has been asked a thousand times or more but how many paper lanterns are needed at zavas palace? Also, how many strands of lights? If any past brides has lights you would be willing to sell please PM me.

How about the LED lights to go in the Paper lanterns, how does this work?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
