Sure they exist.  I had one!  You can see a picture of it in my resort review under my siggy.  I just told them my colors (magenta and coral) and let them pick the flowers.  If I had brought inspiration pictures, they would have worked around that too.  My bouquet was HUGE.  I don't know how big it comes across in the picture but it was quite large.  The key to staying in the $50 range is being flexible with which flowers you have.  If they're in season and local you'll have no problem. 

 

Amybermuda (past bride) had a custom bouquet done for very cheap.  She used a thread on here that's all about which flowers are in season at certain times.  I don't know the thread but you can PM her for details.  A picture of it is somewhere in this thread, but you'll have to go back to posts from May/June of this year to find it!

Thanks!  totally going to look into this.  I was so upset that every bouquet I suggested got back the super expensive quotes.

Great advice Michele! Once I have a new WC, I think I will try to arrange a conference call.

 

And I agree with you about this being an amazing resourse. Most of my ideas, and knowledge comes from here. It keeps me in the 'know' , and then I can chase after my TA for the deals, and like now, trying to get assigned to a new WC.

I read EVERY day, but don't feel I have a lot to add at this point.  I am sure when the time gets closer there will be more for me to talk about!!  :) 

 

Speaking of......I feel like there are some things I should be doing, but am kind of in a lull for planning.  Any suggestions for what can be done at this point May 2011 brides???  I have dress, STDs send, places reserved, good idea of food, flowers, invitations.  Also, I am constantly researching for ideas and for music.  But nothing to really "set in stone" right now.  Am I missing anything??

I too have Carolina and had to remind her a few times to update my detail sheet.  I dunno what to say about the WCs these days.  I can only assume they are insanely busy but I agree that it's frustrating because it doesn't really feel like they're actually there to help you.  Just to document or reiterate prices from lomas.

 

 

I started booking details right when I booked with AS.  But I don't think you need to worry really.  While some of us like to do everything ahead of the game I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.  You've got plenty of time.  But yes, someone at Karisma should be your wedding coordinator and your contact point for making your decisions/plans

 

 

 

The one thing I would say about the WCs is that if you are having a hard time getting in touch with them, put your TA on it!!!  That's what they are there for!!  Anytime I have a question that I need answered quickly, my TA e-mails Fabio and he responds within a day.  I think all of us brides stress them out and they feel more inclined to respond to another "professional" in the wedding "business."

Michele - This conference call is a great idea!  Do you send a confirmation email afterwords detailing everything she said?  All of the WCs are going to be confused tomorrow when they all get requests to set up conference calls!  hehe.

 

This thread really is a major stress reliever.  FI loves it too, since I don't bug him with every little tiny question/comment anymore...I bug you guys instead :)

Hmm, well, sounds like your doing well then!  I have my dress, sent invites early instead of invitations, have picked our menu (but not selected w/the resort), picked our ceremony/reception location (just emailed today to try and get the sheet going), and looking for shoes, bouquets, jewelry, etc.  I feel like a lot of stuff I have to wait to see our final head count.  Like the OOT bags, excursion ideas, etc. 

 

Speaking of shoes, I am trying to find hot pink heels under 4 inches.  It's a tricky task!! :o)  But, plenty of time!!

Does anyone else work with Carolina?  I have a hard time getting anywhere with her.  I've asked a few questions and I feel as though I don't really understand her responses.  I still haven't started my spreadsheet, even though I've mentioned it a few times.  I'm gonna be highly upset if my locations end up unavailable!!  They shouldn't since we are getting married on a Monday, but you never know.  So, I'd love to get it in writing.  Guess I'll have to be a little more pushy.  :o)

 

For the girls having a welcome party, are you doing this as a cocktail type reception, or are you using the included Spoons dinner? 

 

I also have Carolina but my local wedding coordinator is communicating with her on my behalf.   My coordinator has not even recieved a reply on my requests and it has been a week and a half already.  A little disappointing as my request was regarding confirming locations. 

 

We were thinking about having a farewell cocktail party on the last night followed by the group dinner at Spoons (which accomodates a max of only 40 as I'm told).  It appears that group seating options are 6 or 6:30 pm (way too early for a combo cocktail/dinner evening for us).  Has anyone else asked about the group dinner and found different time options - we were hoping for 8pm.

 

If the group dinner has to be that early - then we are probably going to have a welcome coctail on day 2 and book the spoon dinner at 6:30 as a farewell dinner - this combo is actually looking more appealing to me as I think about it - spreads a little here and there and lets people get back to their rooms to pack or stay out later to enjoy the night.

      I wrote a ridiculously long review (11 pages). It includes my itinerary, my 6 page travel letter for worry warts, guest bags, every detail of the hotel, cost, advice, etc. I’m not going to overload the FB page with it so here is a link to the review if you want to read it. In short, I would give this hotel and experience 5 stars and recommend you use an outside vendor for photography and DJ just for cost effective reasons. Theirs is amazing and will not disappoint. My favorite part of my stay was the wedding of course and the spa. For children and teens, BMI is age- and sex-specific and is often referred to as BMI-for-age. In children, a high amount of body fat can lead to weight-related diseases and other health issues and being underweight can also put one at risk for health issues. A high BMI can be an indicator of high body fatness. BMI does not measure body fat directly, but research has shown that BMI is correlated with more direct measures of body fat, such as skinfold thickness measurements, bioelectrical impedance, densitometry (underwater weighing), dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and other methods1,2,3. BMI can be considered an alternative to direct measures of body fat. In general, BMI is an inexpensive and easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems. How is BMI calculated for children and teens? Calculating BMI using the BMI Percentile Calculator involves the following steps: Measure height and weight. Refer to Measuring Children’s Height and Weight Accurately At Home for guidance. Use the Child and Teen BMI Calculator to calculate BMI. The BMI number is calculated using standard formulas. What is a BMI percentile and how is it interpreted? Can I determine if my child or teen is obese by using an adult BMI calculator? In general, it’s not possible to do this. It is not appropriate to use the BMI categories for adults to interpret the BMI of children and teens. However, if a child or teen has a BMI of ≥ 30 kg/m2, the child is almost certainly obese. A BMI of 30 kg/m2 is approximately the 95th percentile among 17-year-old girls and 18-year-old boys. My two children have the same BMI values, but one is considered obese and the other is not. Why is that? The interpretation of BMI varies by age and sex. So if the children are not the same age and the same sex, the interpretation of BMI has different meanings. For children of different age and sex, the same BMI could represent different BMI percentiles and possibly different weight status categories. See the following graphic for an example for a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy who both have a BMI-for-age of 23. (Note that two children of different ages are plotted on the same growth chart to illustrate a point. Normally the measurement for only one child is plotted on a growth chart.)

      Once you’ve got the future squared away, it’s okay to treat yourselves—so go ahead and enjoy a mini splurge that’ll benefit both of you. Reserve a small amount to put toward a shared interest, like a high-tech wine fridge or top-of-the-line home theater system. Or if the two of you have been texting each other pictures of golden doodle puppies for weeks, and you’re serious about raising a dog or cat, visit your local shelter or check out reputable breeders to find a new four-legged friend. Allocating a bit of the funds for something exciting maintains a healthy balance in your spending habits, making long-term financial wellness more achievable. (You know what they say about all work and no play.) Bright idea: Take a class together. Having a common interest helps you grow as a couple, so pick something you both want to learn, like a foreign language, and enjoy that extra quality time. 
    • The Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator can be used to calculate BMI value and corresponding weight status while taking age into consideration. Use the "Metric Units" tab for the International System of Units or the "Other Units" tab to convert units into either US or metric units. Note that the calculator also computes the Ponderal Index in addition to BMI, both of which are discussed below in detail. Reference BMI is a measurement of a person's leanness or corpulence based on their height and weight, and is intended to quantify tissue mass. Although BMI has limitations in that it is an estimate that cannot take body composition into account, it can be used as a general indicator of a healthy body weight based on a person's height. The value obtained from the calculation of BMI is widely used to categorize whether a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese depending on what range the value falls between. These ranges of BMI vary based on factors such as region and age, and are sometimes further divided into subcategories such as severely underweight or very severely obese. The main difference between the PI and BMI is the cubing rather than squaring of the height in the formula (provided below). While BMI can be a useful tool when considering large populations, it is not reliable for determining leanness or corpulence in individuals. Although the PI suffers from similar considerations, the PI is more reliable for use with very tall or short individuals, while BMI tends to record uncharacteristically high or low body fat levels for those on the extreme ends of the height and weight spectrum.
