but this brings me to my dilemma. She and her fiance were booked for our wedding in May. I think it's too soon right now to even bring that up, but the final payments will be due in March. How do I bring the topic up with her? I would totally understand her not wanting to go, and would support her completely in that decision. I just don't even know how to ask. Any suggestions?
Oooo ok, this is not the answer you want to hear. Don't bring it up, at all... I know, I know but I would assume she's not coming.

Maybe speak to her mother about it and have them bring it up, I can't IMAGINE how devastated this poor girl is and the mere thought of a wedding (especially in the month she was supposed to get married no less) would just be horrifically sad.

I say never bring it up, her situation now takes a little bit of precedence unfortunately in every way.

Good luck, this is just tough all around girl! smile03.gif

I would have to agree with Amy. When she is ready, she will bring it up to you. You can always move some things around later, but for now, I would assume she is not going to attend. Sorry all of you are having to go through such a tragic loss!! I am glad she has such a strong support system.

I hope I didn't come off as being selfish in wondering if I should talk to her about my wedding...My biggest concern is that she and her fiance paid for their plane tickets in full, as well as the deposit on the room. I would hate for her lose out on all of the money.

AmyKH, I like the idea of talking to her mom. I'll give her a call in a month or two and see what she thinks. Thanks for your input!

Renee im sorry to hear about her friends loss and Im sorry your in an awkward position. If I were you id be the friend I know you are to her, and Included in all the phone calls you made for her canceling her wedding plans, ID call the person who booked her trip for her and explain the situation and cancel or give them a heads up on possibly canceling her trip. Airlines will cancel her trip with no penality especiallly because of the circumstances. They may asked for death certifict or somthing but she will get all her money back. And if she desides to join your wedding she can always re book.... ?

Hey girls hope you all had great holidays!

Renee, wow. I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I cannot even begin to imagine how hard this is for her right now. I agree to maybe speak with her mom in a month or two - and to let her come to you about the wedding but to expect she will not come.

I got so much done over Xmas and NYE for my wedding I am really feeling good.

I got:

- wedding flip flops and reception shoes

- veil (borrowed from my best friend)

- paper from paper source for welcome letters, menus, and programs

- Room key card holder and printed paper to put in holder

- ordered welcome bags (orange and pink giraffe print - even FI liked them!)

- ordered travel mugs and shot glasses

- ordered replica designer sunglasses

My new work permit (its like a visa I need to work and live in Bermuda) has not been approved yet either so I am staying another week in Maryland not working - so I am going to try and continue my streak here getting stuff done!

Amy Bermuda to do's:

- investigate & order waterproof stickers for mugs & shot glasses

- send out room block info for AHR

- contact TA and find out capacity at hotel & email Mexico invitees who have not yet booked

- send out email to guests to book flights as wedding is over memorial day

- find & buy cocktail umbrellas for seating chart

- get idea of #s for excursions and make preliminary bookings

- make FI actually get on the catamaran "rehearsal dinner" booking as he has promised to deal with for the past month! pokestick.gif

Alright..... I think that's about it for me!

Hope you girls are recovering well from NYE madness. This is my last weekend of being bad - tomorrow starts my diet up again and some serious exercising. I lost 10 pounds before Xmas but think I have put 3 back on. I need to lose at least 15, but would like to lose 20 to be ideal, before the wedding. I cant think of a better motivation than my own wedding though wink.gif

Oh no, no you didn't come off as selfish! It's a difficult situation to be in for sure. I totally knew it was the finance part you were wondering about and maybe the airline could be contacted by someone and she could have vouchers for both of their tickets put under her name if the airline is nice.

Good luck!

AmyB - Wow, congrats on getting so much done, you definitely should be proud! I'll update the to-do list when I get back to work on Monday because that's where the master is.

All I'm doing right now is prepping for my BD shoot. I did a Liver Cleanse yesterday for 24 hours and I'm down 8lbs in 7 days so you can tell how serious I am! The shoot is one week from tomorrow so I'm in serious prep mode!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
