Thanks again!
Hi again Jenna!

Just to clarify this a bit...the dinner reservation included is not a private reception. It is a dinner reservation for up to 40 guests in one of their restaurants called The Spoon. They will try and provide you with an area away from others, but this is not guaranteed and I believe you have a limited time in there (again probably dependant on how busy it is).

If you wanted a private reception area, you pay per person, for every single person.

Most people use the dinner reservation for a rehersal dinner before the wedding or a welcome dinner for guests when they all arrive, or for a farewell dinner for everyone before they leave the bride and groom.

Just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page!!

HI Jenna & welcome!

I am getting married at the Azul Beach but its not as popular, so I stay on the Sensatori thread. The WCs and pricing are all the same. I picked it b/c it was small and allowed kids. Really there is no other choice for these 2 criteria in the Riviera Maya! Plus all of the reviews have been so positive. The planning process is not fabulous, as I think we are all suffering from sticker shock.

If you have a small group, then a private affair wont be that expensive - or maybe that necessary? The bigger you go the more money you'll spend - even needing extra chairs at the ceremony and maybe a microphone at dinner for speeches. It all adds up!

However girls, I got a great quote for 2 tall glass vases filled with gladiolas to sit at the front of the beach canopy during our ceremony - only $43 each. This is what they would cost if I sent them to someone in the US using proflowers or 1800flowers, etc. So, good value for the money!!

Have a good day everyone!

Katie...Thanks for the clarification! I really appreciate all the info. When doing a private dinner, are you able to use any portion from the silver or gold package towards it? It looks as though you chose a diff resort, Ocean Coral? The reviews I have read on Sensatori on Trip Advisor have me nervous...but the photos and great things I have heard really keep me hoping that it cant be as bad as its worst review!? I will def check out the 3 page of the thread for the Azul Beach info.

On the other hand Amy, I have read SO many great things and hardly any bad reviews on Azul Beach. You are right it has been all positive. It does seem to have a lot of great amenities for families, which is super nice. My sister and husband will be traveling with their 4 year old and new baby and she would be over the moon about not having to pack all the extras!

I did come across a pricing doc which I believe was for private dinners, cocktails, brunch options etc. Is this the pricing that would be used for the wedding as well?

Thanks again ladies! :)

It's to put our personal stamp on things I guess? Sunday in the shower the idea popped in my head... let me know if it's strange.

I am going to have the diveted edge of the stamp outlined lightly so there is no black matting underneath.

That is so cool! Did you design it yourself?

We should defiantly share ideas.

Andrea-
I'm the same weekend as both of you - just on the Sunday. So exciting! Although I live in New York, I'm originally a Minnesotan - so Midwest represent! Are you guys having any issues getting people to book their room? I was hoping we would have a much more final number but people seem to be so slow to do it!

Hi Jenna.

No you can't use any of your package towards paying for the reception - no substitutions are allowed....you either have something or you don't, no putting it towards something else! The packages don't cover anything to do with the reception (apart from if you opt to have the Spoon restaurant reservation).

I reluctantly had to change due to it not being as cheap as we had planned. gutted really coz the girls on this thread are fab and the hotel is gorgeous. Despite all our moaning on here about the planning, noone's come back with a bad review about their wedding - and that says a lot.

And don't worry about Trip Adviser - apparently there was some guy at the resort earlier this month trying to convince everyone to complain about the hotel on Trip Adviser for NO reason. He's just a nutter, so don't worry about them.

If you want something with more than 10 people, I'd say go for Azul Beach and if you have a bit more than that go with Azul Sensatori. Obvioulsy it's totally your choice lol do what you both want to do!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
