Chrissy, LOL! I feel the same way, I feel like this freakout is mini and I'm gonna completely lose it the month before.

Did you send them a picture? If you have time and don't mind, would you email it to me? I am just trying to guage the level of complexity I should challenge them with.

I don't you should worry, there have been many brides that have had a succcessful wedding at AS, so at least we know it's possible wink.gif

Hi girls!!!!!! I am SO SO close to making my decision, so may be joining you girls as an AS bride very soon! Some good news with Fabio...I have emailed him 3 times and have gotten a response within 12 hours, all 3 times. Yes, he may be trying to put on a good front, but that's gotta be a good sign! haha I am 10 months out and have already had a ton of freak outs!! Guess that's the way it goes. :)

Are you getting your makeup done at the spa? How much is it?

So obviously I need to rethink my timing for the day. Originally I was thinking of starting our hair at 12!! Tiffany told me to schedule 2 girls at a time?

Welcome to all the new brides!!

My only suggestions so far are to negotiate now with the wedding planners before you sign those contracts.

Azul Beach is now offereing a free Wedding ($2500 silver package it looks like) for new wedding contracts. I am trying to get my travel agent to have them accept that discount instead of the Its All About The Bride one.

Anyone else getting the run around to actually use one of these specials? I think my travel agent is not helping it. She was on the phone with the travel company and said to them, "No correct me if I am wrong, but my client thought you could get her a discount on the rooms since they are booking 15 - 20 rooms. You cannot do that, correct?" Seriously, WTFhuh.gif I think my 2 year old neice could negotiate better than her. Is anyone getting rates for their guests lower than the online published rates?

Lastly, I am Very HAPPY to say I got my quote back and for the pink table runners it is only $5 per table! woo hoo I will try to post some pictures next week of that idea and my cake (3 tiers with pink roses and orange lillies).

PS - that guy posting bad review on Trip Advisor is a creep. I think there is a awy you can report people like that. What a loser.

I've read mixed things from those who got their makeup done at the spa, so I'm not sure. I was quoted $168 (including a trial). I'm thinking I'll do the trial and, if it comes out bad, do my own for the wedding (so, in case I don't end up going with the resort on the wedding, I'll bring backup makeup -- and try and negotiate a discounted payment for only doing the trial). The price is obviously ridiculous, but what else is new! FYI - the bridal hairstyle is $85 and the bridesmade hair is $50.

Not sure why she said 2 girls? Maybe there is another wedding your day and slots have already been reserved? If having 3 girls go at once makes a difference, I would push her on it.

Hey Ladies,

For those that were inquiring about cakes, here is a pic of what I requested. They quoted me $440 for the three tiers and the overall design. Then it was $20 for each orchid used. The picture had 15 orchids - so they quoted me an additional $300.00. I made some small adjustments to lower the price. You can also use cheaper flowers, as orchids tend to the be most expensive flower. Roses are $10 per flower and dahlias were $10 per flower. Daisies are even cheaper. I liked the orchids so I just lowered the number a bit. I am doing a layer of hazelnut, a layer of strawberry and a layer of vanilla.

Regarding the makeup. I did a trial run when I did my site visit in April. The actual makeup application was great as far as how it looked, the lady at the resort was very skilled. What I had an issue with is that she had just finished another bride and didn't clean her brushes, and she didn't clean my face before hand - now that may have been because it was just a trial - but this disturbed me. I also wasn't impressed with the quality of the makeup she used - it just seemed very cheap and I had concerns that it would start to fade of look cakey by the end of the evening. I have decided to use Ultra Femme. They are a professional makeup artist company that Lomas recommends that will come to the hotel to do your makeup. I should add a disclaimer though as they have a pretty steep price tag ($400.00) - but this includes a trial as well and a free makeup gift. I still nearly had a heart attack when I heard the price. What I would recommend is that you use the lady at the hotel, but maybe bring your own makeup and brushes to ensure the quality. Her application and technique were not an issue and I think any bride would be happy how their makeup turns out. I only ended up going with Ultra Femme because I didn't want to stress out about finding the right type of makeup. If you go to the Lomas website, and look at services and amenities they have a link on Ultra Femme if you have any questions. They are an approved Azul Vendor.

Also, to comment on the string about negotiating prices. I would highly recommend that you go direct to the hotel and the folks in Miami (Fabio - is particularly helpful). I was trying to run everything through Luxe, our wedding coordinator, and wasn't happy with the answers I was getting on some issues. The minute we contacted the hotel direct they started throwing in extras to make up for some of the problems we had encountered. Everything is negotiable. There are a few things they won't bend on - but if you make a big enough stink about it - they may be willing to throw in some other amenities.

Hope this helps.

PS - That TA guy really is a creep. He has caused me such trouble. I had guests panicking that they had just spent a ton of money and were about to go the vacation from hell. I have managed to calm them all down - but it was a nightmare. I also got the hotel to give me an official letter that all the restaurants will be open during the week of my wedding and all restaurants will offer an a la carte menus and there will be no degradation in services from my previous site visit. I plan on having that in my back pocket with me.

Carrie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
