We totally wanted a hotel that was modern and new and looked the part for our wedding. I have been to Cuba twice and loved both holidays however, the hotels are not up to the standard of AS and are very dated. The beaches are beautiful and people are friendly. I just couldn't picture my wedding with old fashioned decor and furniture. Maybe that is not an issue for you?
Money is a missive issue however and it kills me to think of the money it is costing for the so called "cheaper option". We have helped this issue slightly by not having a private reception, only going for white decor of the location and sticking to standard things like flowers etc.
Let me know if you see any hotels elsewhere that you love. I would be interested to look myself!
I am sure it will all work out fine for you Katie.
Also, to add to the stress, i have just found out that the shop i have bought my dress from has gone into liquidation! I have lost the money I have paid for the dress but luckily, the designer is still on track to make it as I was having made to measure anyway. i just need to find the money again!!!censored.gif

hey gem,

AS would let us downgrade our package, that's not a problem. our problem is that the packages are soooo expensive for what is actually included - we thought we'd get more for our money and now can't afford the package and all the extras.

we're still looking around, but atm our fav is Ocean Coral by H10 (look on the first Choice website). i think you'd like it - modern looking and new...rooms look good too. have a look and let me know what you think!

good luck with your dress! at least you should get it cheaper now if you're buying it direct and cutting out the middle man!

xx

I spoke to Tiffany @ Lomas, about the buffet/ a la carte issue for lunch and dinner. She checked with her manager and also came back that a group request food stations in the restaurants which was the reason why there seemed like it was buffet. Tiffany stated that even if that situation happens you are always allowed to order off the menu and have a server. She said part of the gourmet inclusive and experince is being able to order an a la carte.

This conversation made me feel much better about it everything.

Hope this helps a little.

can anyone help with sample/or example of how they are wording their "destination" wedding invitations?

And since im having a Cocktail reception back home a week later how I go about that as well? I was thinking of combining them in one somehow. Thinking about the wedding invite to be more formal and then adding in a rsvp card that had a spot saying somthing about cannont attend wedding, Will attend wedding cocktail reception kinda thingy? lol? any ideas would help.

Also, Ive been reading alot about the "etiquette" behind how the wording is sopposed to be, whos names goes first bla bla bla, if brides family is paying or grooms or whatever. Both our familys and ourselves are all contributing in someway??

Hey Afrommert, I am in the process of working on invites as well. I went to this website to get wording ideas... Invitation Wording Samples by InvitationConsultants.com - Bride & Groom Inviting.

I am using this wording (It's not my name or info...just from the site):

Together with their parents

Julia Esabella Sanmeters

and

Nicholas Kristoff Demett

request the honour of your presence

at their marriage

on Sunday, the fourth of October

two thousand fourteen

at six o'clock in the evening

Mount Zion Church

11890 Leaf Avenue

Chicago, Illinois

At the bottom of the invite, I am going to ask guests to RSVP through our website (I don't want guests to have the hassle of mailing back rsvp cards.

I am not going to include the at home reception on my invite because I think that if those who are invited see that they can come to a party at home, they might not pay to come to the actual wedding. We will send out really informal invites for the AHR closer to the date, after everyone has booked.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
