Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so the buffet/ a la carte thing is really bugging me. I feel like if I wanted everything to be buffet I would have chosen the Moon Place or some other resort. I still want to have my wedding at AS but it would be nice to be informed of a change like this. I emailed my TA to find out what she knows or if she has heard anything about these changes.

Definitely buffet only at Spoon. Zavaz was not open for breakfast while I was there.

Lunch was buffet only, options were Beach Barbeque, Spoon, and Zocalo.

Dinner was buffet at spoon with the cooking stations. Zavaz has a menu and a buffet. Sienna was menu. Zocalo was buffet and menu.

I haven't looked at TA in a while, but let me check it out today and see if I can provide any rebuttal.

Happy Wedding Day Alissa!!!!

Here's the take on TA reviews...

The bit about the crocodiles was comical at best. Um, anyone with some sense knows that crocs don't really like salt water, clearly that person has seen Lake Placid one too many times!

In Zavaz and Zocalo if you don't ask for a menu you won't get one. To be honest you were better going with the buffet at Zavaz.

The bit about bacon was totally true. Hard to come by and not cooked well. It was a big joke at the pool, which is the point. If you are going to let lack of more than 3 pieces of bacon ruin your vaca, then so be it!!! There is no "real" butter. I thought my Irish FH was going to die.

Premium liquor. I am a bit of an alchie and I was fine. I do not drink the house wine. I am a Grey Goose drinker and just ordered the absolute or stoli. So I missed the Silver Parton, but got over it. Plenty of fun tropical drinks to be had, and anyone who says they can taste the liquor well or premium difference in those is nuts. Last time I checked we don't put Chopin in our bloody mary's at home :)

The green water thing. I have mixed opinion. I had a white swimsuit. It did not turn green. I met a guy there with a white hat and it totally had green. He had been there 2 weeks though. I thought the pool was quite clean.

Now, if I had paid through the nose to go there, I would be pissed. But again, seriously. We are talking less than $300 a night for two people. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with drinks at any decent resort would cost you that much. If these people are going to continue to bitch about things, they should just head on over to Maykoba and drop $1500 a day. You get what you pay for, period.

I think I am having a bad day. My jeweler screwed up my rings, my 4 carat pear is being held hostage and I am out $2500 in deposit money. Time to call my favorite attorney I suppose.

Thanks Ash, You really made me feel better. I should know better than to read TA reviews - but my friends were urging me to do so. I think I may need to go calm my FI down though. He works in Afghanistan and I sent him a panicked email and I think he has already taken this up with the hotel. I guess we'll see what they come back with. Sorry to hear you are having a bad day. I hope you get your rings back with no hassle.

Hi Ladies,

For what its worth, I just heard back from my WC at Luxe Destination Weddings. She just spoke with their onsite rep at Karisma (Jonathan) who is currently at the hotel now. He said that the reason for the change was only to accommodate the off season. Apparently they are in the off season now and that the busy season will pick up again starting 1 October. To be honest I think this is a bit of BS - why would the off season only run through middle of August through September? She said the hotel downgraded the size of the staff and then usually closes one restaurant per day on a rotation (Zavaz on Monday, Sienna on Tuesday, etc.). I told them that this was still unacceptable as our party is starting to arrive on 28 September and that my guests have paid for what the hotel claims to be a five star, gourment all inclusive experience not a buffet line. She assured me that things will go back to normal by the time my wedding is due - but I told her that I wanted it in writing from the hotel first- so she is working on that now. We'll see what happens. Just curious if any of you ladies have heard anything different from your TAs or WCs. Oh yah - she also said that the TA reviews were from a group of folks that booked through Thompsons and that they requested buffets at some of the restaurants. Again I think this is a bit of BS and that they are just trying to appease me. I'll let you know what the hotel comes back with.

We heard back from our TA today and they have said they can't do anything about the package as the hotel won't but they (the TA) will waiver the £35 pp change fee and let us change the hotel/destination free of charge.

How has it been for the hotel you've changed to? was there a big difference? and where did you change to? (sorry about all the questions!)

and yep...started looking at Cuba but kinda gone back to looking at alternatives in Mexico now. just so wary because I don't want to find myself in the same situation again...

soooo stressed!
HI Katie

we had no problems in changing hotels and packages. TA were brilliant think they began to get a headache with all our problems.

We changed and booked the iberostar paraiso maya, we had to change our wedding date by 2 weeks but that was a little price to pay for happines we did not have to pay the £35.00 cancellation fee either. The holiday was £80.00 pp more expensive though.
The resort has 5 hotels on its complex if you look at the iberostar website you will find lots of info about it. We managed to get everthing confirmed within 15 hours.
They even agreed we could have outside photography without problems, and of course we managed to book claudia rodriguez.

Katie i am sorry you are having problems but if your considering changing then you need to do it sooner rather than later.

if you want to email me its samfrench33@tiscali.co.uk.
please let me know what/how you get on.

Carrie,
I 'm waiting to hear back from my travel agent. As soon as I get something from her we can compare notes. I also left a message for Tiffany, my WC from Lomas to see what she has to say. The whole down sizing thing for off season does sound like BS. I think its great you asked for something in writing from the hotel. I will make sure to do the same. I hope to have something soon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
