Because Tiffany is asking for a deposit and I wanted to price some things out with the destinationwedding planner FIRST... ****, But I see that mrsvaughn and myself have excat wedding date which I think is super cool, we can compare! We should bring our own stuff use them for both weddings and split all the cost lol :)

I don't want to delve into your personal business of course but you still have 8 months, why don't you find out when you have to make you decision by and just wait and see if that changes for you. If it's something you really want, maybe it's meant to be and things will get better for you in a way to make it happen.

As for the decorations, that IS very misleading and ridiculous!!! I say just bring your own decor, I definitely am. My WC said they would set it up for me for no cost unless it was elaborate... now what do you think elaborate is... hmmm. Make me wonder!

Bring your own stuff it's much cheaper anyways, I'm bringing my own centerpieces.

The Mexican vendor thing I knew... doesn't bother me too much because I was never planning on using a vendor in Mexico and I got a deal with my photog.

What if you downgraded to the silver package to save money and get a small package from my photographer and you won't be paying ANY fee at all and then maybe the Sky Deck could magically fit in.

I'm not sure, let me know if you have any specific questions and I will help you cut back anywhere I can.

Good luck hun, we're here for ya smile03.gif
Thanks Amy...

Well we have 6 months until final payments need to be made...we decided to book our wedding quite quick (just under a year) and had no savings to start with so we have had to start from scratch. with the recession, FH has had all his overtime stopped and that has a major impact on our money. we'll do it, it's just tough and not going to be easy.

i really don't want to lose the Sky Deck as that was the one thing that we both knew 100% we wanted. but I like your idea of waiting until nearer the time to take a look at money then and make a more informed decision.

Did your WC say you could bring your own sheets of fabric?? I thought they were charging $100 to set that up!? Could you let me know (in a PM if you prefer) what decs you are taking and what ones you are purchasing from Lomas?

I have been in correspondence with your lovely photog (he just seems soooo lovely) and we have managed to sort out a package that suits what we want and as long as on Sunday we can downgrade to the silver package, we will be having him too :o) I'm trying not to get excited yet though until we have the downgrade of the package confirmed first...then I'll be squealing!! lol

but thank you once again for saving my sanity!! smile03.gif

Hi Ladies! Thank for the well wishes for my Dad, I appreciate it!

I leave saturday, and as far as being nervous -no. Excited however, well, lets just say it's 4:40 in the morning and I am up, working on the playlist and the ceremony script!

I really want to be sleeping though!!!

Good news, the grooms sister is able to come, last minute, so there will be a total of 14 of us! It's going to be lovely.

Katie -I hope you will be able to get the Sky Deck in the end! I completely understand though, as that is the one thing we both really wanted and we had to give it up because of $$$. If we could have had the cocktail reception up there, I think it would have been different. Chin-up! A lot of things can happen in a year, and I'm sure you'll be able to get it done in the end!

xo

Hi Amy :)

That's seriously a great idea! Then you'd have to bring half as much stuff! Although you would have to have the same exact taste at the same time :)

I don't know if we can help with pricing but we could at least give you what we got for cost, since I'm working with destweds.com too

Itâ€s so easy to freak out in these strange times of economy and what not but just vent and one of us that isnâ€t freaking out at the time will try and offer sound advice wink.gif

Ok keep the Sky Deck as your goal and I bet you could make it happen!

My WC told me that colored fabric is $100 a piece and white is 2 for $100. Iâ€m just using white, I like the look of it on the dark wood anyways. If you bring your own fabric they may charge you $50 set up fee so itâ€s all relative.

I was going to bring centerpieces, chair bows, table runners, paper lanterns, twinkle lights and may even buy Champagne at the Costco down there and have them serve it if Iâ€m allowed.

If you and I have similar tastes with anything we can coordinate and share décor too! That could save you some money!

OH good! OMG I just met Chris on Sunday, he did our engagement shoot and heâ€s wonderful to work with, creative and really professional. He told me what to do and had great ideas and I felt really comfortable with him. Iâ€ve been tossing and turning waiting to get my pictures from him itâ€s killing me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
