Well at least if they have bought their plane tickets, you know they are coming so you can count them in! Are you sending out formal invites? If you are, when are you asking them to rsvp by....like how many months before your wedding?

Oh wow! I sent out my STD's in May, exactly one year away.

I was planning on making my formal invites soon and asking for RSVP's by October 1st and booking by the end of 2009 no later.

I keep sending out emails too which is really good, stressing the benefits of booking early it's just hard.

Hey Queena, I have not been there , but from people who I know who have been, and from the pictures I have seen, it is definitely not run down. The only negative thing I think is the beach, and I'm not sure if this is because the resort is new or because of hurricane. I have heard the beach is really rocky and there is lots of seaweed. I have been told that the resort is working on cleaning this up though and they sweep the beach a few times daily to keep it clean.

Happy Sunday everyone. Checking in from Atlanta with a planning status update...

Dress--still no dress!

Rings--bought both of our bands. I have to leave my engagement ring here for two weeks though. My honey was extra sweet and is adding two bands to it with another 2.5 carats :)

DJ--Went to the W hotel bar last night, awesome DJ was mixing. I was definitely overserved but recall him telling me that he would DJ our wedding for $500, plus his flight and hotel. I think it may be worth it!

Spent the whole day with MOB and managed not to fight!!!!

Ash I can't believe you still have no dress!! That's good you are holding out though to find the perfect one. That would be pretty awesome if that you could use that dj! Have you looked around at other DJ's? If you did, were they a lot more expensive?

BTW, who is MOB again?

Moral of the story is that it wouldn't be a wedding if at least half of the family was uncooperative or not attending. MY FI's parents doesn't understand how we can get married (they are crazy old Irish Catholics from Dublin) and his brother told him "I am out of Time Off from work, can you move it to next year"huh.gif?

Now onto my wedding coordinator/pricing funnies of the day. Who wants to know how much napkins are? $5 a piece. That is worse than the chair bows! Tablecloths--$30. My favorite is the band who plays in the mojito lounge who quoted us $1,000 for 4 hours---Lomas Travel wants $2,800 for 2 sets of 45 minutes.
Ash, I was told that if you purchase a private dinner (ie: cheap 3 course meal like I am) then all the napkins and linens, plates, chairs and covers come with it...

I am not sure if that is what you are talking about but we are paying 14$pp for the menu 1 option and all of that other stuff is suppose to come with it along with a 4 hour bar.

Its in the private banquet kit...am I right about this ladies?

Hi ladies - I'm doing a private event, and the linens, chairs, etc come with it. Now if you want colored bows on the chairs, that's extra. We are doing Option #4 and that comes with the bar package. I just got my spreadsheet back from my WC and there are no "odd" charges listed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
