Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

27 dresses -I am sorry to hear about your change of plans. It must have been a hard one. We almost made that decision awhile back. The recession has hit us and our friends and family quite hard too. It is amazing how many people I know are out of work.

As difficult as the decision was, whatever you do instead will ultimately turn out to be for the best, you kow that is always the way with these trying decisions!

Heather- I am glad to hear your wedding turned out so well! We considered Cuba, but we have guests from the states, and unfortunately Cuba is a no go for them! Canadian and UK Brides with more time may want to consider it...

How was the food?? When my FH & I were there 2 years ago, it was the only thing we really didn't like. We stayed at the Paradisus -gorgeous hotel -gorgeous beach -lovely staff -great spa, but the food left a lot to be desired...

Zocollo terrace won't work unless you have 40 peeps. The only places we had as options -there are 13 of us- were the Zavaz Cocktail terrace, the beach (which means dance floor rental), the Yoga Palapa and the private room in the Sierra.

I think the Yoga Palapa is too small unless you only have like 5 peeps there if you want a dance floor too. My WC suggested renting the dance floor for that locale.

We chose the Zavaz.

I have a pretty random question for all of you about the actual ceremony.

We are planning for a friend, who was ordained on the internet, to marry us so we are not paying for the civil ceremony or blood test stuff in Mexico. We just want it to be more personalized by having a very close friend perform the ceremony. We also do not want to get married before or after at a JP. We were just planning to apply for and file the marriage license here in Travis county with the date of the ceremony we have in Mexico. Is that legit? I mean, will it be a legal marriage as far as the state of Texas is concerned?

More and more charges!! So frustrating! I wonder what would happen if we booked it for 40 and then more actually show up for the dinner. I mean, would they refuse to serve them at an ALL-INCLUSIVE restaurant on site? Anyone have a clue about the size of the restaurant?

WTFhuh.gif I can't wait to see what they come back and tell me next.
Ash,

Same here!! I am fuming right now. We got our first quotes for room rates in October or November of 08. My TA sent me rates on January 9, 2009. When we decided for sure to sign the contract on January 20, the resort came back and said those rates no longer applied because they were given in 2008 - even though they quoted them again to my TA in January. So we signed the contract based on higher 2009 rates - it was only $15 or so per person per night so we were only mildly annoyed. At that time my TA fought for me to get the lower rate but they wouldn't budge and they ASSURED her that the rates would not go down this year and that was the absolute lowest we would get...period. Now I see my guests could be saving $215 for their trip!! Let me know what they say about it.

I figured not everyone would come, I will have closer to 50ish as well but I know some that probably won't be up by 10am the next morning and some that are leaving that Sunday. So I figured I'd be safe :)

Thanks for the advice Allisa! I don't know why they don't make all the options etc more clear in all the literature....what would I do without you all?!!

just an interesting reply from Claudia that I thought some people might be interested in. I emailed just to see if she was available for our wedding date before trying to fight to get her...this is what she replied:

"Hello Katie,

Thank you for getting in touch with me and Congrats on your upcoming

Weddings!!! I'm sorry I'm already booked for May 7th,10 and I don't

think you'll get the Karisma people approval for us to work at the

Azul anymore..."

and that "...." was her, not me! sounds like there's something going on there. and that sounds to me like they won't even let her in!!

weird....

Shandalier,

I expect to hear back from them today. The way I see it, I can break my contract and rebook, but still save about $7,000. What really concerns me more is that we booked this resort because the prices were high enough that it ensured a certain class of people would not afford to travel there. Now, that is not the case. Also, How is it possible to cut your prices by 80% and maintain the same quality of food, liquor, and staff.

The only thing keeping me going is that we are getting married the day after Thanksgiving which is historically very quiet in this area.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
