I forgot to answer the question about the plaza being gravel. It's not gravel. It's concrete. It's like regular sidewalk. I wouldn't go barefoot, but you can wear any shoes, heels, flip flops, etc. and you'll be fine.

Katken, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions! It is VERY helpful to hear from someone who was already married at the resort!

As to Claudia, we had originally booked her for our wedding, but cancelled and decided to fly someone in after pricing things out. After pricing the "Golden Package" plus 2 extra hours of service, she became VERY expensive (and we weren't crazy about the final product -- something like 250 pictures -- I can't remember). Anyway, we are now paying a bit more, but we will get pictures for the whole vacation and a professional wedding album. I tried to get Claudia to lower her prices and she said that she couldn't because of Karisma. Maybe she expressed her anger to the hotel and the relationship fell apart from there huh.gif

Do you mind sharing approximately how much it is to bring your own photographer? I'm wondering if that is the way to go...I just dont want to spend a ton of money, and i Know if u bring your own, u have to pay for a 3 night stay, right?

We're paying $3000 plus all travel (for two, for 3 nts), so around $4700 for Friday night (rehearsal dinner), all day Saturday (wedding) and Sunday (brunch, TTD) -- plus album cost, which for their top of the line including parent books etc. will probably be another $3000 or so (but, of course, there are cheaper options)...

They must not realize how important this day is and how they are letting us down by acting this way.
She's afraid of flying... which isn't an excuse to me. More people get in car accidents the plane crashes!

She's had a few flights before but would a fear a flying stop you from your only daughter's wedding? It wouldn't stop me... although I'm not afraid to fly so I don't know.

Why is it that your mom isn't going? Especially when you've offered to pay!!
She doesn't like flying which to me is a LAME excuse... and how bad does it look that my FI's relatives are coming from Australia, London & Canada. All my relatives are in CA & CO... so it should be easier for them.

I won't let it ruin my day, it's not worth it :)

Is there a chance she's maybe finding it hard? emotionally etc. from the little I know from what you've posted 2 things come to mind as to why she may not be going - 1st. does she get on with your FH? approve of him etc? or 2nd. could she find it really hard on a day as special as that and your dad not being around? maybe she's running?

I hope your FH makes it an extra special time for you, no matter what happens with your mum.

Katie
I WISH those were the reasons... my fiance asked for her approval before proposing to me and she told he "I could have asked for a better son-in-law" they get along better than her and I do!

My father and her were divorced when he passed away so that's not the reason either. I just get nothing from her.

For our photographer, we negotiated to pay for her airfare and 3 nights at the resort. It comes to about $900 (the flights from DFW are only about $300). She is going to bring her husband and they are paying for him. The actual photo package we are getting is around $3700. It includes an taking pictures at an engagement session, welcome reception, getting ready, ceremony, reception, and TTD session. Plus we're getting a big coffee table album for us and 2 smaller ones for each set of parents, a video montage thing, and a CD with all the pics. I think we got an awesome deal!!

Meghan,

One other thing you might consider is posting a thread on here to see if someone else might want to share the cost of getting a photographer down there. If your wedding is Friday and theirs is Saturday (or something like that) it might work out where you could share :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
