yes, these rooms book up quickly because of how popular the resort is! my fiance and i dished out a ton of money to book rooms - the deposit is $200/per person. you get the money back 100 days before the wedding and don't have to pay for the wedding until 30 days before so it all goes into the same pool. i believe this is the only way you can guarantee space for your guests.

we used luxe destination weddings to help us organize all of this and they have been great!

hope this helps. book your rooms! can't take any chances here!

Hey Jenni,

So funny! I am also using Luxe destination weddings for my travel arrangements! Are you using them to plan the wedding and reception as well?

I'm so disheartened right now. My TA told me tonight that the 4 lowest room categories are sold out for my wedding weekend. The resort is pretty pricey as it is, now it is super expensive. I sent an email out to my friends and family, so they wouldn't be surprised by such a high price. I suggested that they could stay somewhere else and come to the wedding on a day pass.
If anyone has any suggestions, advice or access to cheap rates, please let me know.
For those of you near my date, you might want to check and make sure what availability is open for your guests.
I have even contemplated changing resorts, if that tells you anything!
That sucks! I'm worried about that too, we're early April. For those booking late, maybe they can book after the Karisma webinar. There's suppose to be some discount. Or what about the post w/ 25% off that was posted not too long ago? I know a few of my guests called the hotel and used that promotion which was cheaper than the rates we had from our TA.

Pammy,
We are getting our November 2009 date confirmed too. Our TA (the wedding holiday), had told us, that you will speak with Nancy or Fabio and hmm, I guess you can note all these requests (whatever you see on Lomas through with them). (... ok, I don't think I'm being very useful here= I'll have to confirm that with my TA). :)

jennrenn,
How about you?
all together we are a group of 36. I also wanted to let you know that I paid my balance yesterday via CC/Fax. It's on now. I've decided to let it go and be happy with whatever it becomes. There is nothing I can do to change this and it is my only wedding day. Did you ever get your exel sheet from Fabiohuh.gif?

Hi Polina

I am using destinationweddings.com (Joani) and they/she is great. She just informed me that one of her colleagues was down at the hotel and progress was looking"iffy" for Nov.

Being that our wedding is Nov. 14th I went a little psycho and called Berwick travel to ask what they knew (they seem to have to most info online) I actually got to speak with steve (the dude from all the utube videos) and he said that as far as he knew they would be ready.

Long story short we really won't know anything until the day comes. Totally sucks but really helped me put some aggression into my personal training session this morning.

Amy,

Have you called Karisma directly? I'm sure they will be open by your wedding. I couldn't imagine them not opening and ruining their reputation by screwing up so many weddings. They are well aware that they have several weddings in October and I'm sure they will do everything they can to open on time. With construction there are usually delays but it seems like a month late is plenty.

JHarwood: Check out Dailycandy.com they have a 25% off deal if you book by Nov 1. Some of my friends just used it and got the Luxury Jacuzzi Suite at $320/night. Kind of pissed that my TA didn't get us the best deals, but glad my friends got off some money.

PammyP: i have photographers coming from Canada and i am definitely getting them a work visa. they recently had a wedding in NY that they had to cancel the day of bc they were not allowed to cross the border with their equipment and no visa. very important to get them a visa to be safe! if not for the hotel, for when they cross border control.

I noticed that you are also from Calgary. Unfortunately the free wedding package does not apply to Canadians. Apparently we get better rates than Americans, still not really sure why?!? If you look at the fine print at the bottom of the wedding packages webpage it says its for USA citizens, no mention of us Canadians frown.gif

This is what I was told by Lorian at The Wedding Holiday, and a few girls were also told this (see earlier posts in the forum) But I would love to hear if any Canadians were in fact able to use the free wedding package. It would be much more economical and you would get to stay in the premium section pinkie.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
