Can anyone comment on a 3pm wedding on the beach? Will it be too hot? I liked the idea of a 6-16-16 wedding date but they only have 3pm available.

I would say too hot, especially in June! Andddd if your on the beach there will be A LOT of lookers. We wanted something more private so we had our ceremony and cocktail hour on the sky deck. If you decide on beach, try having it later. Also the seaweed was TERRIBLE. Apparently its becoming a major in the area (not just that resort). Just keep that in mind :)

Future Brides.. We asked for our guests not to bring gifts, their attendance was all we wanted. With that being said, people still gave them. We had a basket on our welcome table at the reception for favors, the wedding team made that into a gift/card basket later on into the evening. The brought the cards over but there was a gift bag sitting next to it which went missing towards the end of the night. Come to find out it was jewelry. I was very disappointed...

So lesson learned. If people bring gifts DO NOT leave them on any tables which are not occupied by guests.

I was married on the beach at 5pm.... The ceremony is so quick that it's not bad. As far as the seaweed, I read that this was a problem and asked that they make sure to clear it. There wasn't one ounce of sea grass on the beach near my ceremony! Also the spectators are respectful. The staff doesn't allow people to stand close or walk through your ceremony. We were married by the pier and we had about 75 people watch our ceremony but they all stood along the rail out of the photographers sight. It was actually cool to turn around after the loss and see an additional 75 people crying and clapping for us. I didn't mind.

Also if you're concerned about the heat, put your programs on fans.

Agreed. I had read this before from other brides mentioning gifts had been taken. I made my mother in law in charge of watching the chest and emptying it periodically. As far as I know we didn't miss anything. That said I didn't ask for gifts either but like you said people still bring them so everyone should be prepared.

So I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have a lot of family and friends who love us and want to see us get married this October. The bad news is that the amount of people booked over exceeded both locations I had for cocktail and reception. For over a year I had my heart set on these locations and due to the amount of guests attending, I have to switch to new locations. This makes me so sad.

Can previous brides please tell me if they had their reception in the ballroom or at Zocalo restaurant? If so, can you share your experience of how it went and any photos of your wedding reception?

What locations did you originally have booked? How many do you have booked currently?

@aliyedeinramirez the zocalo restaurant is really nice and you wouldn't need much decor since the walls are so heavily decorated. I took a tour of the location of my bdr and loved it but there is just a $1000 up charge to use it since they have to shut down the restaurant when there is an event. Plus you have AC so if it's raining or too hot you don't have to worry. The decor is yellow with Browns, so much prettier tho.

Hi! I originally had zocalo terrace for the cocktail hour and Zavas plaza for the reception. The Miami coordinator just told me that Zocalo restaurant only can hold up to 100 ppl. :-( we have 105 booked with about 15 people let to book this week.

I had a cocktail hour in the Ballroom. It was decorated very nicely. I got married October 11th with 70 guests. Whichever location you choose, they will make it beautiful!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
