I ended up going with the spa for hair and make up. The trial went well and I was very happy with the results on the day of the wedding too. However, if I could do it again, I would have gone with an updo ( not their fault of course!). I have naturally curly hair and although it wasn't that humid, the wind and heat definitely caused my hair to frizz and bit.  I would request Angeles as she seemed to be most experienced. She was really sweet and was happy to make any changes I asked for.

@@raqpena - congrats on the wedding!!  Any advice for us brides still planning??   Did you use the 36 laterns at your reception?  Was that it at Plaza Zavas?  Trying to figure out how many I'll need

36 was enough. It filled the palapa at Zavas plaza perfectly! I will post pics soon!

They looked in our bags but didn't ask for receipts. They said they see brides all day everyday. They understand.

With the paper lanterns, you don't need to put lights in them if you do string lights on the posts. They will hang them so you just provide the lanterns.

I'm looking for Ivory as well, I am sticking with just one color though.

Did anyone try bringing a makeup artist from off-site to the resort? Trying to figure out if there is a way around not having to use the resort spa, and bringing in someone else without having to pay the vendor fee.

@@LaurenR I decided to just go with one color, too. I want to keep things simple and didnt want to have too many colors going on. I think I'm going to order two of the panels I posted before.

 

@@raqpena How were the beaches when you were down there? I've heard a lot of reports of tons of seaweed from posters on TripAdvisor and the pictures people post make the water look pretty greyish. Not a huge deal to me because our Travel Agent warned us of that and we plan to spend most of our time by the pools but I thought I would get an opinon first hand! Congrats on your wedding, glad it was everything you hoped for! Did you guys go with a DJ? I'm also still deciding what I want to do with my hair- I have a veil and kind of wanted to wear it down. My hair is very straight and doesn't hold curl very well so I'm thinking of just doing beach waves in my hair.
