Can someone please relieve me from my confusion about food/private reception?!

I know that a semi-private reception comes with the wedding package for up to 40 people at spoons….How much is per person to do a private reception?  Do they charge for everyone or just over the 40 person limit for a private reception?  Do you have to pay a private reception fee per person plus the fee for the food?  Is alcohol included or do you have to pay for that separate as well if it is private?

After looking at the menu the prices are pretty pricey and if I have to pay more on top of that just to have a private reception I'm wondering how much that would actually add up to…it seems like it would be a lot!

The menus in the banquet kit are ALL private events... If you do a semi private it's a different selection and is $25/pp

Those all come I with an international bar as shown on the bottom of each page. The list of what's in that bar is in one of the last pages of the banquet kit. If you qualify for a free dinner at spoons. First 40 are free and then remaining are $25/pp for adults. If you opt for a private reception you have a large number of different options and price points.

this post on my EDR/EDCR thread outlines the private event options (the locations are for EDR/EDCR, but the banquet kit is the same for Azuls).

the semi-private event is usually just a dinner in the restaurant, no special decorations or entertainment. a private event is just your party, and you pay the fee per person for the food option you select for 4 hours. the bar is included, as are the staff (that's what the cost is for - the additional staff just for you). you can add additional hours, or

decorations and entertainment. the private events include white table linens and basic plates, glassware, etc.

HTH!

Thanks so much ladies!!!  So I just want to make sure I have this correct….if I do a private event there isn't an additional charge on top of the food prices because the prices are already priced higher to include all the extras?

Your additional costs for private events would be decor and entertainment if you had any. But the service, basic tables set up, food and drink (4hrs) are included. But for the actual event, they are charged per person. Good rule of thumb is kids prices are 50% of the rate you see in the kit if they want a smaller portion of the dish.

right - there isn't an additional charge for most venues to host a private event. for example:

40 guests for the BBQ buffet = 40 x $38pp = $1,520

with that price you get 4 hours of the open bar, the food, the staff (bartender/waiters), the tables & chairs and basic white linen (table cloths and napkins) set up.

if you want to rent table runners, chair bows, have a DJ, have centerpieces, or any other decorations, that's all additional.

Hey everyone,

I just got my confirmation for my wedding from another coordinator, not from Bridgitte Castro. A new link for the private banquet kit does show the increased pricing. I plan on talking to her on Monday but have you other brides experienced this too? Is it definitely changed and nothing we can do about it if isn't listed on our detail sheet? I just received a detail sheet last night.

Please don't ask if the price has increased!!! The price on whatever information the provide at the time, is what many brides are trying to get. If you were sent the new pricing from your WC (and you didn't previously receive something cheaper quotes to you) then it's likely the new price. Unless you are actually quoted a price I don't think you can push to have it honoured.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
