@@kmk2016 My coordinator is Lynda too!

According to my TA she is the best one to have!! :)

Also, I was curious if anyone has thought about bringing their own sound system?

My fiancé is a musician and has a portable Bose sound system that sounds awesome and is super lightweight and not hard to travel with.

Thoughts? Am I crazy for maybe thinking about bringing it? haha

Yeah I'm totally impressed. I sent her 5 questions/requests yesterday and she came back today with my requests all filed on my sheet and my requests noted.

As for the Bose sound dock, lots of BDW brides have done it! I plan on doing it for our welcome beach s'mores party... But not for my actual reception (going with a dJ)

for those of you who recently had your wedding, did the wedding coordinator at the hotel do a quick dress rehearsal the day before so everyone knows where to walk, stand, etc

This is something you put on your detail sheet with Florida if you want to coordinate one. If you don't, you can either do it yourself without a WC or try and squeeze one in with your on site coordinator once you sit down with her upon arrival for your initial meeting.

I had Lynda. During the process I thought she was good enough. But after the wedding I changed my opinion.

We brought our own sound system with us. Which would have worked fine. Except everyone failed to tell us that a wedding with a DJ was on the beach (we were plaza zavaz). So we couldn't do anything but listen to their trance. We got a first dance in and that was it. No father daughter dance etc. when I emailed my reaction to Linda on that and a couple other things (as a keep in mind, not I require a fix)..well that was in March - I'm still waiting for a reply. Totally unprofessional.

Ask Lynda, get it in writing what wedding receptions are currently booked and for where.

Like I said our sound system was fitting the bill until the other dj got going.

Agreed- that would be so annoying about the music! We are going a DJ so I'm not concerned... But maybe the reason they can't provide that info is because people can add things to a detail sheet up until final payment and someone could add a DJ after you think they are only getting a sound dock... And then what are they supposed to do? Also I wonder if there is some sort of privacy implications there. I certainly wouldn't want another bride being given information on my private events without my knowledge! I share here cause we are all "friends" but I would be upset if I knew my detail sheet was being shared with someone without my consent!

When I was there for a site visit there were two receptions with two dj's not THAT far apart... We were surprised that the sound didn't cross over from one party to another. I wonder if your fellow bride had a DJ play louder than usually allowed (could be a reason for the sudden decision to not allow outside DJ vendors!

That very well may be the case. Never the less we should have at least even told the venue was booked and if the wind shifts it could interfere with our reception. I didn't realize the beach reception spot was directly infront of the zavaz plaza. They have the knowledge of the venue and we trust them to use that knowledge to help us think of things we wouldn't.

Having to tell my dad there would be no father daughter dance was definitely not the highlight of my wedding.

Privacy issues aside, a simple a wedding is booked with a dj so u might get drowned out is all I would have needed I would have did my reception different.

Totally agreed! I'm surprised the sound carried back to plaza zavaz, since when we were there the "protected area that had the plaza tucked back from the beach was one thing we noticed. Zocalo terrace proximity to the beach area frequently used for weddings looked like it would be a bit more of a problem. Hmmmm

I will definitely ask my WC about other bookings when I pay my final payment. Once I know how many other weddings are happening, I need to keep my fingers crossed that they don't change location/plans once they arrive and see the areas in person! Thanks for the tip!

those of you who had your weddings, did the hotel provide the number cards for the reception tables? if you had to bring your own table number did the hotel provide a holder for that or you had to bring that too?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
