@@kmk2016  I totally agree with you on the cupcakes. They were not our favorite either. We liked the cake pops -- they were very very rich though.  I am not a huge fan of the fondant but I heard butter cream icing doesn't really hold up in the heat.

Hi Everyone,

Just got married at Azul Sensatori on Friday. It was Fabulous! The weather was hot, rainy and humid but we had a great time. We had a Welcome Cocktail party on Thursday which was supposed to be on Zocalo Al Fresco but was set up on Zocalo Terrace due to a mis-communication with our Wedding Coordinator, Omar.

The on-site wedding coordinators, Omar, Antonio and Victoria are excellent. They work very hard with each bride to make their wedding events special.

It started raining during the Welcome Cocktail Party. Since Zocalo Terrace is outside next to the pool, the party was cut short. Since the weather was forecast for more rain on Friday, we asked Omar if we could move from Zavas Plaza to the large ballroom. It was a great decision. Omar and his staff hung up our Xmas lights and paper lanterns from the ceiling and made a beautiful 'starry' night inside, in the air conditioning.

@ Lolita2014 - during the June rainy season, the ballroom is definitely the best place for the reception. My 40 guests were able to eat, dance and party for four hours in privacy and comfort.

Back to the ceremony. We had it on the Sky Deck and it was spectacular! The clouds cleared up for a few hours just in time us. I only have a couple of pictures to post in the gallery but will post more when we get back from our honeymoon.

My guests had a fantastic stay at Azul Sensatori. They raved about the food at all of the restaurant, the service and swimming pools. The music from Mega DJ kept the reception party moving and dancing. The BBQ deluxe was an enormous amount of really good food. There was enough variety of exceptionally good food to satisfy everyone. The wedding cake was delicious! We had 3 layers with the bottom in chocolate, middle section in vanilla rum, top section in carrot cake and covered in butter cream. I thought we would have leftovers but people went back for seconds and thirds. Before I knew it, there was only a small piece left.

I will post a full review later but wanted everyone to know we had a great time. I want to give a special thank you to Angeles in the Spa who did my hair and makeup, Marcel from the Spa who trimmed my husband's hair and beard. I also want to thank Erika who acted as my personal assistant on my wedding day.

@@Jennypert we saw your set up on our site tour at the dress rehearsal and it looked beautiful! Victoria told us about your move to the ballroom and we took a peek and it was sooo pretty how they decorated (she told me how they tried to make it like you were dancing under the stars) and showed us your reception set up and all the items you brought- it was sooo nice! I loved how your guests were all in red!! (Was that planned or was that just the ones we saw?) it looked like it was going to be a great party!!

Congratulations!!

I'm so happy to hear that you and guests are having such a great time.

Did you have a dancefloor in the ballroom? Did they charge you for this?

My FI thought $500 was ridiculous so he asked me to remove it from the detail sheet. He thinks we can negotiate a better deal on site.

I did silk flowers for my bridesmaid bouquets and real touch roses and latex orchids for my bouquet. Saved a ton of money.

Check out afloral.com and Hobby Lobby when they have their 50% floral sales.

I loved your flowers @@lolita2014 Where did you purchase them? Im looking to do the same thing to save on costs. How to did you carefully get them down to Mexico?

I haven't had my wedding yet. I leave for Mexico in 9 days.

I just plan to pack them in my suitcase with the other wedding items and fluff them when I arrive.

I got the silk Dahlias (clearance $6.99 each) and latex green orchids ($8.99) from afloral.com. They came as bouquets and I just split them up to make smaller Dahlia bridesmaid bouquets and corsages for the moms. I split the orchids between my bouquet and a smaller throw bouquet.

The real touch ivory roses came from Hobbly Lobby when they were 50% off ($1.50 each). I got a smaller silk rose bouquet from Michael's for $6 ($9.99 @ 40% off) for my throw bouquet. I also purchased real touch rose bouteniers from Hobby Lobby @ 50% off, so they were $2-4 each.

In total I think I spent $120 on all my floral and that includes wrapping tape and ribbon.

My friend who had a destination wedding in April borrowed my idea and I helped her make her floral and it worked out great. She and her FI thanked me because they were already over budget and they saved a ton on floral.

I also attended a wedding this weekend in VA and her flowers were fakes too.  I could tell, but I don't think most guests could. Everything was beautiful.

If anyone has any questions- fire away. I just got back and will post a detailed review of the actual rehearsal on that thread but if anyone has any planning/hotel questions I am type A+++ and took detailed notes on everything and anything so can answer hopefully a ton of questions anyone may have.

I don't have a TON of pics until tomorrow as my MoH took them so I could ask questions and take notes- and I won't get them from her til tomorrow.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
