About the sheers, I know you said they ended up being wrong size but...did you buy them for the sky deck or beach? Do you know the correct size the sheers need to be? Also, where did you buy your original ones from? Thanks! :)

Hi all!!! Total noob here- and a Type A "über planner" noob to boot! We are just starting our planning, though I have read nearly this entire thread and wish we were getting married next month- you all have me so excited!

My MOH and I are attending the Dress Rehearsal in June since my FI is unable to come (and is pretty laid back and has basically told me to book whatever I like and it will be fantastic).

We are choosing a date WAY in the future- working with a GI approved TA, she is negotiating things for us despite being so far in advance- and will allow everyone to put their deposits down and then have a long time to pay in full.

Our tentative date is February 29, 2016!! (We liked the idea of a leap year). We will confirm this with AS once returning back from the dress rehearsal.

Looking forward to sharing the planning process with you all, and watch you all celebrate your big days since I am sooo far off!

Quick question to you all. My fiance is figuring out the music for our welcome BBQ and cocktail hour. We have speakers for the welcome BBQ and a iPod dock for the cocktail hour. Our WC has specified that for both devices, we need an iPod with a 30-pin connection.  We have an iPod with the lightning connection.  Has anyone successfully used the 30-pin to lightning adapter with Lomas' equipment?  It should work...but we're nervous that we could get down there and find out it won't!

So, I haven't been getting responses to my emails to my WC Erika in over 3 weeks. I checked my online wedding summary and my coordinator is now Lucy.  Was someone going to tell me?

Too much money is being spent between my guests and I to have Karisma be so awful with the planning process.  I know most brides say to be patient and that it all works out in the end, but I'm tired of this.  Karisma is making enough money off of these weddings to hire more staff to accommodate their wedding couples. I began this process nine months out and it is only because of this forum that I know what is going on.

While I am looking forward to my wedding and much needed time away, I would definitely be hesitant to recommend Karisma for this reason alone. I have read every post on this thread since Jan 2012, so I know it will be beautiful and my guests will have a great time but I am tired of having to beg Karisma to give me the information I need.  Now I have spend my morning trying to figure out who Lucy is and how I can contact her.

Thanks again to all the brides who have assisted me, answered my questions and shared their experiences.

I didn't know you had an online wedding summary?!?!  Wow. im 12 days away from my wedding and in the year and a half that I've been dealing with karisma this is the first time im hearing about this.

I am like you...I would not recommend a karisma resort bc of the planning issues & on top of that the insane fees.  I check into other forums and girls are complaining about $300 vendor fees.  Please give me that!

The way I see it is a "Top Rated" resort should act like one through the whole process...not just that one day.

The very first email I received from Karisma after paying my deposit had a link to weddingportal.karismahotels.com with my user id and password. That is where I could see what she added. There was then a time when they allowed you to add things yourself, so I saw options I didn't know I had and was adding like crazy (things like free tote bags, free silver photo frame) and I edited my spa services and Spoons reservations. They then took away the option to log in at all.  When I called about it my WC gave me a link to view the summary.

So that is all I have access to now and which is how I saw my summary has a different WC listed.

The fees are insane and have forced me to scour this website to find low-cost alternatives.  While a pain, I love to save a buck so in a weird way it became a hobby. Still time consuming.

Karisma gets an F for the planning process, but I'm trying to stay positive that once we are there I will forget this part of it.

I previously had the same issue with Karisma; I was working with Karla (who was great) and stopped getting responses, only to find out through this thread that Karla had resigned from the company - if only this was the worst of it.

We are getting married May 3, 2014 and I'm beginning to panic.  I now have Carol as my wedding coordinator - she is a complete mess, unfortunately.  She is not efficient and has absolutely no organization at all.  Our final payment was due on March 21 and I finally got a response from her this past Monday, after numerous phone calls/emails requesting our detail sheet.  Well, when I finally received the detail sheet - it is completely wrong.  Prices are wrong/head counts are completely off and she didn't even have my bridal bouquet or half of the centerpieces listed!  I am working two jobs and planning a wedding where 70+ family members and friends are paying a lot of money, as are we!  We've spent thousands of dollars so far and Carol can't even make time to correctly input our requests?

Needless to say, I'm extremely frustrated.  I contacted the online chat yesterday and was able to get a supervisor's e-mail.  I sent an extremely well thought out, disappointing e-mail to both Carol and the supervisor, hoping to get some sort of response/compensation for the incredibly upsetting planning that has gone on thus far.  I am really hoping that all the previous brides are correct when they say that everything will go off without a hitch once we get down to Mexico.  Because the off site coordinators don't hold up to the "Gourmet, Five Star" name of the Karisma resorts.

Extremely disappointed up to this point, but I refuse to become a bridezilla!  :) Best of luck to you and the rest of the brides, I know we will all have beautiful weddings and a great time, once the planning is done!

Its not being a bridezilla.  You are paying good money to stay and have a wedding at Azul.  Its a top rated resort so you should be treated like a top rated guest throughout the planning process.  The customer service out of Florida is appalling.  I have worked as a waitress & in customer service my entire life.  I don't know how a corporate run business allows this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
