Question for everyone: I got an email from "Fabio" telling me my planner Karla, who I have been working with for almost a year, is no longer with the company. I expressed my concerns and asked him to set up a phone meeting with me over a week ago, and emailed him again yesterday with no response. My wedding is three weeks away and I'm freaking out about all the final details:-/ Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm a week after you, and totally feel your pain. I know they are short handed right now, and it's definitely taking them longer to respond that it has in the past. That being said, our planner is Lynda, and she's been pretty great... So take a deep breath, get on the phone, and ask for a manager level planner to take over, someone who has been there for a significant amount of time. Do not be afraid to push for what you want, it's your wedding day... But it will work out, they may be short handed, but I don't think they're dropping the ball on anything.

Did anyone have guests coming from europe? How did you make it work? I'm thinking it may be cheaper if they fly local then fly out with the rest of the party.
I have just one person coming from Poland, and we are having her fly into NY, then to Cancun with the wedding party. It came out to about the same, but definitely less stressful for her. I guess the pricing probably depends on whether your airport is a major hub or not...

OMG. My planner is (was?) Karla!! I sent her an email about 2-3 weeks ago and didn't get a response. I have not thought very much about it since she is often slow to respond and I still have over seven months before the wedding. It would be too much of a coincidence to have 2 Karla's working as wedding planners for Karisma!! I'll follow up with my TA. She's been great and I'm sure will find out what's happening.

I just found out Karisma has introduced a series of totally new wedding packages for the Azul and El Dorado properties.  If your wedding is soon, you may not want to change.  But, the new packages and website are definitely interesting and worth considering.  http://www.memorablemomentsweddings.com/

The roll out of the new packages may be part of the reason for the slow responses recently.

Does anyone have a video or the script/order of what is said and done at a MEXICAN CIVIL CEREMONY? I'm having a really hard time finding it... I know there is a judge and a translator, and I think there's fingerprinting at some point, but I don't know where to plan Readings (2) and the sand ceremony...

I'm not sure if this is the same script Azul Sensatori does, as things tend to vary quite a bit down here in Mexico, even with legal things! This was sent to me by my independent wedding planner and is the script from an independent civil judge we were considering hiring. Maybe the resort has a copy of what they specifically read out?

We ended up getting our marriage paperwork dealt with at home ahead of time so that we could write our own script, and it also saved us about $600 in judge transport and service fees and blood tests. We had our good friend from Playa Del Carmen that used to be a lawyer marry us, and only 5 immediate family members out of our 72 knew that we had done the paperwork at home. We told everyone our friend was ordained and no one had any idea! It was also great to have someone close to us preform such a special ceremony, even though it was a symbolic one.

Please excuse the formatting below, as I just copied and pasted it from an email.

  MEXICAN CIVIL MARRIAGE ADVICES

( TAKEN FROM OCAMPOâ€S LETTER )

Ladies and gentlemen, according to the laws of this country we are gathered here to join the bonds of Matrimony which is an honorable status:

________________________________    and    _____________________________

Seeing it is a very important act, I would kindly ask everybody to remain in silence.

As witnesses of this important act, there are present here:

1. – ______________________________      2. - ______________________________

3. -  ______________________________  4. – ______________________________

Who will sign the marriage document.

A great Mexican philosopher of the ninetheen century, Mr. Melchor Ocampo, wrote in his legendary letter, the following words that until today are always read in our wedding ceremonies “ marriage “, it says is the only legal and moral way to found a Family, to preserve mankind and avoid imperfections of the human being who are only able to obtain the perfection of the human race, through matrimony in a conjugal duality.

Men and Women have the same rights, but it is important to observe their respective obligations.

Both of you should have respect, fidelity, trust and assistance to one another and also tenderness and love, much love. Do not fight with one another, use your heads and your hearts to correct something wrong.

I now ask two questions to your witnesses.

1.-Are ________________________ and ____________________ ¿Persons you know well?

2. - ¿ And are there any objections for them to be joined in legal marriage in Mexico?

________________________ ¿ do you accept _____________________ as your

beloved  and wedded wife, __________________________  ¿ do you accept _____________________ as your beloved and wedded husband.

____________________________ and   ___________________ after ratifying your wish to get legally married by means of your sing and with your witnesses†sing and in the presence of your family and friends in the name of the law and the society and with the authority from the Solidaridad Municipal, here in Quintana Roo, Mèxico, I now declare you husband and wife.

You may kiss the bride.

¡ CONGRATULATIONS!

Playa del Carmen, Solidaridad, Quintana Roo. The  ______ Of. _____________

El C. Oficial 07 del Registro Civil.

Aren't the new collections beautiful? I was actually inquiring about the Coastal Bliss package with my WC Lynda. I haven't decided which route I'm taking yet. Based off her answers to my questions, the shade lounge can't be used for a cocktail hour (it's only a part of the ceremony decor) and they can't transfer any of the decorations over to the reception. These were two pretty important factors since the packages aren't cheap!!! Also, the music playlist is just a suggestion of songs for you to put on your iPod - they don't actually have music equipment setup to play the list of songs.
However, the decor is gorgeous so I'm having a hard time deciding if it's worth all this extra money!!

Also, for any of you who purchased the 'Pearl Package' this is now called the 'Always & Forever Package'. MAKE SURE YOUR WC CHANGES THIS FOR YOU ON YOUR DETAIL SHEET!! It's the same price but you get a lot more perks (candle light dinner on the beach, free wifi, discounted spa services, one night anniversary return voucher, etc.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
