Azul Sensatori is my first choice for my June 2014 wedding. Lots of questions. But, before I get too attached, I'd like to know if gay couples will feel welcome there? We have several relatives and close friends who are in same sex relationships. It is important to us that they attend, feel comfortable and have a good time. Does anyone have any experience with this at Azul Sensatori?
This is a tricky question. Although I would offer that the staff will be welcoming to your gay/lesbian friends, it is the other guests that may be the issue. The clientele is mostly made of families, and depending on the week you happen to be there, it may or may not be an issue. I am not sure if your guest list is adults only, or with kids. But if it's adults only I would recommend El Dorado Royale or Excellence Mayan Riveria. Both are beautiful resorts which welcome gay/lesbian couples and because it's an adult only environment, plus larger resorts, you may find these more comfortable for your friends.
Ok ladies! I need some input, please.... I finally received the first contract from our TA, originally she told us that the pricing for a group can be offered at about a 20% discount... The prices she sent over are the exact same as they have listed on their site as we speak! We are looking at getting married May 3, 2014. What are the prices you were offered for a 7 day stay? A 4 day stay? Were you able to negotiate a better price? Help! I can't see asking our guets to spend $2000 a person to come to our wedding!
The prices are not going to be what you expect this far out. For a May 2014 wedding, you can expect to see better prices starting in the fall. The reason is the hotel sells blocks of rooms to travel providers /charter companies usually 8 months prior. Right now all you see is the "rack rate" from the resort. Once the tour companies purchase these block rate rooms, that's when you will see price drops. Take a look at the prices for May this year. Although it is not a guarantee, it will give you an idea of what the price might be. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice but 2 of the gay couples have kids under 18. We will be a large enough group (30 or so) that we probably won't interact much with the other guests. If the staff are ok, then we will go for it and pray for tolerance from the guests. On another topic, the initial quote from my TA for AS is about $850 per person for 4 nights without airfare. This is higher than most other resorts. Several guests have told me they want to stay for 7 days but at that price they may not be able to afford it. I'm going to check around before making a commitment.

If you're in a larger group, and they have kids, I think they will be comfortable (again depending on the other guests). The staff is very friendly, helpful and their service is outstanding. As for prices, like Tammy mentioned above, her rates for this May look like about $200 less for 4 days. Again no guarantees for next year, but really you will likely not get good pricing until you are a bit closer to the date. ( I realize that can make it hard to commit to a resort) As a suggestion, ask Tammy if she has pricing for May 2014, and especially since they are a GI certified TA, they may have other added bonuses for you and your group. As for prices with flights, if your group is all flying from the same airport you might be able to get a group rate as well. Good luck! I know this planning part can be difficult. But the Sensatori is a fantastic resort for families with kids, and they truly are pros at weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
