My WC said I would have to book the assistant in the hotel too.  But she mentioned that this only applied to photographer and videographer.  DJ could only be from lomas.  Stinks b/c I had hoped to book Doremixx, I guess their policy's changed and an outside dj is not allowed now.  I know many of the girls are booking outside dj's but I just didnt even push the issue.  I guess Ill just have to go with one of lomas' dj's.

My WC (Lynda Gomez) told me that the vendor fee would cover the vendor and his assistant. So if my photographer brings an assistant it's $800 total for both. :)
Thanks girls for the feedback. I have all ready booked his room and didn't think about the assistant. I emailed the DJ last night and he said previously other brides have booked him a room and the resort gave them no trouble with the assistant. Hopefully that's true!

:( sorry you are going through this! But you are def not alone. I ended up texting and emailing people to get a response. It is def very very frustrating and even a bit insulting for not rsvping, but there is one thing i have learned throughout this process.....that is those who want to come will fight tooth and nail to be there!! To tell you the truth, my mother is not coming. i prefer not to go into the details but let's just say my parents have been divorce for almost 10 years and she still can't be in the same room as my dad. Hang in there! And try not to let this bother you too much!!! Your energy is better spent on the other fun stuff!! :)

LOL I know this is an older post (but I am taking the time LONG LONG time to read all the previous posts as I am new to this site) But I had to laugh when you said your mother isn't coming because of your dad. My father isn't coming for the same reason and they have been divorced for 26 (yes twenty six) years. Seriously?!?! It's not funny I know but sometimes all you can do is laugh to keep your sanity :)

Thank you all for your input with the cocktail party decision, it's very helpful! :) I'm thinking that guests can just go to one of the bars before the reception... The majority of our group likes to party, and they'll probably like the bar scene better anyways lol.

I do have another question, just to get everyones opinion and it's actually regarding the rooms... We initially booked a Premium Swim-Up Suite, but after reading another bride's review (I believe on this thread), they mentioned that the Premium section isn't worth staying in if your guests aren't staying in premium rooms because the hotel does not allow those guests to visit the premium section. So, we looked into the Honeymoon Suite but for 6 nights its very pricey! I think we rather splurge a bit more on a room on our honeymoon which will be at Secrets Maroma Beach.

Has anyone heard any reviews on certain rooms that are nice/ newer for a reasonable price? Thanks!!

Hi! Funny you ask... I initially booked our wedding at Azul Beach and switched to Azul Sensatori a few months ago simply because it's much larger. I thought a larger resort would offer my guests more options. Then, being the indecisive person I am when it comes to my wedding, I recently tried switching back to Azul Beach several weeks ago because I am such a beach bum, and a "nicer" beach was important to me. However, they would not let me because they said they could not accomodate a group that size. Not sure why they allowed me to book AB in the first place, but I am happy we're staying at AS regardless :)

Yeah I booked DJ Doremixx. I asked Ivan (the main DJ) and he said he brings an assistant to set up. The assistant won't be able to get in the resort so that's why I just did the vendor fee vs 2 ppl in a 3 night room which would be more expensive and also a headache to ask Ivan to know who he will be bringing etc.

Hey MK0386, What are you planning to bring for decorations? You and I are both having our reception at Zavas Plaza.  So far, I bought lantern and stringed lights to wrap around the poles but i'm not too sure what to do for centerpieces.  What are you doing for centerpieces? Since we are having our weddings in the same week, would you like to share decorations?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
