Ha! I think so.  We are having the ceremony on the beach at 5pm with the reception at Zocalo Al Fresco.  DJ and photographer booked.  We have a group of 35 people! I'm trying to keep it simple.

I love this resort - we were engaged there March 31st 2012.  They really treated us well.  When they heard of our engagement our room was decorated with rose petals, our jacuzzi was filled and champagne was waiting on ice.   How could we not return with our friends and family to get married!

How is your planning going?

I am on June 22nd. I was also told someone else is getting married the same day as me but have not heard anything else!

My FI and I are planning to do an outside DJ but are not sure how it will work booking him three days vs. the vendor fee. Do we let our coordinator know he is the DJ? How does the hotel react if he would only check in the day of the event? Do they say anything when he wheels in all his equipment?

I am so glad to hear the cake turned out. We just ordered a cake and I was very nervous.

Has anyone on here been to the the Market stores or the Party supply store? I was thinking of decorating our reception with large glass cylinders with submerged flowers but did not know if that would be something they have there.

Thanks for the Help!

Welcome!

I don't know how the hotel would react to the DJ being there only for 1 day. Have any of the brides tried this tactic yet? We brought our own photographer, but he stayed for the week with us.

I have been to the Markets and the party supply store, as well as the Wal-Mart. You can plan to do the glass vases/cylinders, but their stocks are always changing. So if you are envisioning large cylinders, but there are only square vases, could that still work? Or there might only be 3 of each type of vase? Could you have different vases on different tables? As long as you are flexible in your ideas and willing to change, it should work out fine. We did a very simple glass vases filled with limes and water as our centerpiece. (this is a photo of the vase in our room, and we bought 8 vases for $12US at the Party store)

Or perhaps if you post a photo of the other dress we can all look for you to see if we find something that we could make sure you have within 2 weeks? Perhaps try local ads of bridesmaids selling dresses (Kijiji, Craigslist?).

As for the company who you ordered the dress from....that is horrible customer service! You ordered with plenty of time, 6 months to get a bridesmaid dress seems unreasonable. BangHead.gif

Thanks murmel! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying hard it works out!

And on an off chance  if any of you ladies run into this dress (Bill Levkoff 165, Champagne, size 14 or 16) let me know! Thanks!

What to do???

Oh no, what a headache! Was it from House of Brides, by chance? Have you reached out to the designer directly? I'm sure they'd want to know that they're dealing with a poor retailer and might be able to pull you a sample. You could also try calling other stockists. I can call around Illinois if you want!

I will keep my eyes open....although it looks like it's a US store. I know I have seen very similar styles in local bridal shops....so worst case perhaps you can try local shops for something similar?

And I agree with kathyrn83, have you tried calling Bill Levkoff directly? Are they the ones saying they don't know if it will make it in 2 weeks?

Just looking at my local Kijiji....not perfect but if needed I could overnight ship to you http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-clothing-wedding-Impression-Bridal-MOH-or-Bridesmaid-Dress-W0QQAdIdZ444890684

tkuzma- IF you find anything close to the Toronto area let me know. I just realized you are in Edmonton...and I will actually be flying up on Thursday to see my sister! So I could just fly something up with me if we find something.

Yes, we did order from House of Brides! How did you know? Are they known for this type of thing?

I've called both Bill Levkoff in the US and the Canadian supplier as well- unfortunately, the earlies they can get me something is in 4 weeks, which is too late.

Thank you very much for the offer to call around Illinois.  I am planning on calling House of Brides tomorrow and speaking with the person with the most authority, and being forceful to ensure they do everything in their power to get me that dress!

That is so sweet of you murmel! I will let you know if I find anything.

Have a good trip to Edmonton! Dress warmly as the temperature dropped again yesterday and we just had a snowstorm!

I have found a Bill Levkoff chiffon dress (very similar style, strapless, floor length) in size 14, but it's black! Called around to a number of bridal salons and it sounds like Champagne is a custom order color. sad.gif (so even if they have a sample dress, it's usually not in that color) We'll keep looking!

We're also going through a cold snap this week! I am bundling up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
