We sent out our STD/Invitation combo in early June and set Oct. 1 as the RSVP online date. Being a DW, I was prepared that not many people would be able to attend, but what I was not prepared for was the complete lack of response. We've heard nothing from almost 70 percent of the guest list. I'm just really hurt and frustrated by it.

I kept holding out hope that maybe people were just waiting to the last minute to decide, but analytics shows that, no, that's not the case, since we had exactly one visitor this weekend and it was likely my mom.

Since you have your RSVP online can you send out a gentle reminder email?  I find that sometimes if I have an email with a link to click I'll go do it immediately.  If I have to find the invitation and type in the link myself I just keep putting it off.  I know, that's really lazy of me....but..I bet a lot of people are like that.....it might be worth a try.  Sorry for your frustrations!

I am looking into getting maracas for our guests. Anyone have any good sites on where to order them from? Also, does anyone know how much it is to have Fire Dancers at the reception and Mariachi band??  Thanks ladies:)
I ordered maracas from the following website and they are absolutely perfect! They look very authentic and the medium sized ones are just the right size. I know it seems crazy to take maracas to Mexico but these were cheap and should fit in our luggage ok and we didn't want the hassle of doing it once we get there. We are going to personalize them by adding tags with our wedding date, names, and a jIngle to shake for a kiss instead of tapping on glasses! http://www.amols.com/catalog/medium-traditional-maracas

I had the same issue. I was shocked by how many people did not respond. I sent out a reminder a week before, then ended up texting/calling those who did not respond. I totally understand how frustrating it is! Especially since one of the people who I had to text was one of my bridesmaids and even she did not respond until 5 days later (btw her answer was that she was not coming, I wasn't really shocked as her lack of response said it all). Oooopss now I am venting.

Anyways, my wedding is next week. And even though there have been some hurdles along the way, I am excited and happy to look forward and move past all those little things!

I am getting firedancers for a 30 minute show. I booked mine through a company outside the resort. I am paying the $800 vendor fee but the dancers & vendor fee is less than the firedancers through the hotel cost. But sadly, I was the last person to be able to use this outside vendor as the hotel no longer allows that company in.

I have quotes for other firedancers I found if you want to check them out. Zúñiga Productions in Cancun (www.decocancun.com) and Tibor (You can find our company on facebook: nomadcirquel illusions email: nomadshotime@gmail.com). You will need to check with Azul to see if they are a vendor that is allowed in.

We have been telling our guests all about it since last year and many are really looking forward to it since they are such foodies person. Now to learn you have to pay $25 on top of the room rate on top of the airfare is NOT someone we were expecting at all! All of them are already making such sacrificies and now to tell them to cough up more money! Its not like $25 will break the bank but its the principal that my FI and I were never aware of this hike! Sorry i am just venting..... soooo upset!

As for your upgrade to the swim up, do you remember what room #? Were you in the Premier section? I'm curious which rooms is located near the sewer...

thanks!

Yea, we were disappointed about Le Chique too. Everyone on this forum raved about it and we were looking forward to experiencing it.

As far as the rooms.  Our room was in the adults only section, not the premium. Our room number was 2120.  It was only the rooms in that section that smelled funny. Maybe about a block of 5-6 rooms. Once you are in the rooms you cant smell it. But you can definitely smell it outside.

Kathryn,

Have you had any contact with most of these folks since you sent the STD/Invitation?  Are people indicating to you that they are thinking about coming but haven't booked yet or RSVP'd?  Sometimes when people get something far in advance, they put it off initially, and then kind of forget about the actual due date.  I know I'm really bad with that stuff (and now that I've had a wedding, I know how many brides were cursing my name for not sending in the reply card on time).  How does the room block work with your contract?  Do they need to book by a certain date to get your blocked rooms?  My travel agent sent an email reminder to everyone about 2 weeks in advance of our drop date, and then sent another one on that date, or the day before.  That way, it was all on her, and I didn't feel like I was pushing people.  I still didn't get a response from a decent number of people, but they were mostly people I figured wouldn't come anyway, so I didn't worry about them.

I know it is frustrating.  If your travel agent can't send a reminder, you'll have to do it yourself, or have friends and family help you (i.e., have your mom or fiancee's mom get in touch with family members, etc.)  And keep in mind that a small group is not a bad thing!!  We had about 65 guests, and while we had the best time ever, it was NOT RELAXING AT ALL, because we were constantly running around, trying to spend time with everyone.  A lot of days I didn't even see my husband that much because we were running in different directions.  As long as you have those people that are most important to the two of you, it'll be perfect.  Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
