 Hi! Jana

I also read from past brides that shipping stuff to Mexico is a bad idea. I would love to have my stuff shipped down as well b/c I am now realizing my stuff is sooo heavy! Just the 58 pairs of flip flops and 38x 5'7" wooded frames is taking up 1 huge suitcase and that does not included the decorations and other misc stuff. :(  I think I am going to have to leave the wooded frames at home and divide up the flip flops among my bridesmaids and MOH.  Not sure if you can do the same thing....ask others to help you bring stuff down to  AS??  Can't wait to see you!!!

Oh, if you are wondering why i have wooded frames its b/c my future mother-in-law has been amazing in hand painting these wooded frames so each guest has something to place their picture in from the photo booth that I am having during the reception.

I leave today for the brides dress rehearsal weekend!!! I will be sure to take lots of pictures and ask lots of questions.

Jana I will ask them if you can ship items there.

Also does anyone know what the price for a shuttle or transportation to the resort from the airport should be. I keep hearing that it is crazy expensive. Just want a feel of what is fair when we are negotiating

Jamila

My guests are using Lomas Travel for the transporation from airport to resort and back.  The round-trip transfers are $32/per person and my travel agent is coordinating it all. Unfortunately, it is same price for kids no matter what age...except infant..i think. You will need to check on this. The youngest guest I have is 3 years old and it is still $32/pp.

First of all does it sound realistic to have a ceremony and beach reception, plus our rooms and flights for around$5000.00. We will probably have around 50-70 people attending. We are only paying for our own airfare and room of course. I keep reading that alot of you bring your own decor. How do you get it all there?? I am feeling very overwhelmed and Im trying to stay positive:) Thanks ladies.

Hi! Welcome to the most amazing forum! And congratulations!!

If you click on the link below, you will find the different packages and its prices.  I am fairly certain you can get away with spending around $5K. The pearl wedding pacakge is $950, which includes beach ceremony and dinner reservations for your group not over 40 or depending on which resort you choose. Of course it will be extra for over 40 people and not sure if its extra if you ask to move the dinner to the beach. The expensive part is the extras, such as photographer, videographer, dj and decorations. All of this stuff can be pricey and adds up quickly. To help keep costs down, brides will pack up their decorations in their luggage and  bring it down wtih them. Or divide up the stuff amoung family/friends.  Of course, there is also a set up fee but it is still cheaper than renting the decorations from them.  And of course if you want to do OOT bags for your guests this will also be extra. If you just do the min, which is beach ceremony and beach reception + your room and flight i think you can get away with $5k. How long do you plan on staying? Also, if you book over 15 rooms then your room is sort of for free. There is some calculation which i still do not fully understand. I think Jenny can explain this better than I can. Or if you look back, she did post an explaination on this.

Happy planning! :)

I would love to hear some more details about the petite gourmet. We are thinking of doing that also. Is it a buffet style?? How many people did you have??

It all will depend on what you want to do. As another bride mentioned you can do the Pearl wedding for $950, but that is dinner at Spoon restaurant in a curtained off area. If you want a reception on the beach or private it will drive your price up. We had 63 guests with a private reception, as well as a private cocktail party. Our total was about $13,000. I think you can tailor your wedding to be closer to $5k, just be aware you might not be able to everything you envision (ie. beach reception).

My Aunt and Cousin are not sure if they are going to come to my wedding anymore because they cannot be guaranteed 2 beds in their room.  Any advice??

Honestly, most of the rooms are 2 queen beds in the family section. In the adult only section, as well as the premium section, they are mainly a single king bed. I don't think your aunt and cousin should be too worried. I would make sure they book in the family section, and have the TA add a note requesting the 2 beds. As well, as soon as you arrive to check in, have them check in first and I am sure they will be able to accomadate them.

About the set up charge.. Before I left I read it varied from person to person so I wasnt sure what to expect either. If this is any help to you I got charged $200 to set up..

Bows for ceremony chairs

Bows for reception chairs

Table set up for guest book and 'Love' sign

Scatter crystals on all the tables and cocktail tables

Favours at everyones place

Menu Cards

Place Cards

Childrens gifts to be put on table

Gifts for parents to be put on top table

Flower pins for bouquets

I didnt think what I took considered alot of work but I dont know how much the people take that they charge $100 for.

Also, as for the sheers, we went with the exotic gazebo package which included the candy cane wraps. I asked if I could change these to be draped instead and was told no. They asked if I would like to add the extra sheers over the gazebo for $100 each otherwise the top would be open. I thought for a 20 minute ceremony, I can cope with it being open. But on the day, They added 2 sheers on top of the gazebo as well without any charge. I was very happy with this as it did make it look prettier. I will add pics as soon as I receive my professional pictures :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
