I actually went with the the Free Sweet Wedding package because it worked out to be cheaper for us to pay for add-ons to the free package as we weren't going to use a lot of the included items in any of the other packages.  You should calculate how much each of the individual items you want costs and the figure if any of the packages work out to be a "deal" for you!

The 1st mock-up we did was to paint the wooded frame lavendar and then used a champagne/gold color glittered marker to write on it. I hated it. It just seems like any child could do that. So now my 2nd attempt is to paint a beach background onto the frame. I will work on that this week. A lot of unexpected events occurred yesterday so our time was very limited.

If I still do not like the way that looks, then I may look into doing the wood burning and etch in the wording I want and my wedding date onto the frame.  If i do go this route, then I will probably try to find some beach themed stencils (palm tree, starfish, beach chairs, etc) and etch in those as well.

Its a work in progress. But I am glad my luggage tags are done! I just do not know which colors to choose. The original? Or the lavendar, since that goes with my wedding colors. Your thoughts?

Sorry to hear about the frames! As I already mentioned, I am disheartened about my lack of progress with my current DIY as well.  What about gluing gold painted shells to a lavendar background?

Happy for you about the luggage tags! They look great :) I like the original beach picture with the lavendar back for personal information.

I've been told that the Free Sweet Wedding package is not available to Canadians so I chose the Pearl and am thinking the same as you for the add-ons.  I don't need the private dinner, etc because we are there with friends and family for one week and plan on enjoying their company.   We'll do the couples thing for our honeymoon week at another resort.

So,  are you sure you can do the Free Sweet Wedding??

Who is your WC? I told mine (Amanda & Valeria) that is what my FI & I wanted, and no one told us we couldn't have it.  That seems a bit ridiculous to me that someone told you Canadians don't qualify- on both the Karisma & Lomas websites no exclusion criteria are listed for nationality; I would fight this!!!

My WC is also Amanda.   She told me this when I booked 6 weeks ago.  I thought it sounded strange.  Maybe it has something to do with Signature Vacations being our travel company.

You guys are the best! Thanks for the advice on the pic frames...will keep you posted! :)

As for the luggage tags, I am going to stick with the original. I was leaning towards that but sometimes you just need some smart brides to help you make the final decision. Thanks ladies!!

It is true. I am Canadian and my husband is American, and we received the free sweet wedding package through his "American" group contract. My Canadian group contract didn't qualify. It's pretty lame, I don't know why they have it this way, but unfortunately, that is their policy. Luckily our American group is way bigger than our Canadian group.

I'd ask for her to send you some sort of documentation that states the Canadian exclusion- there is no good reason why that should be the case.  Good luck!

My FI and I will go to city hall right before we leave to obtain our marriage license and then head to AS for our symbolic ceremony. Even if you do a legal ceremony in Mexico it is still not legal in the US. The idea of having them draw blood from me was completely out of the question for me. I believe that is the only big difference b/w the gold and silver package. But I agree with Jenny, I choose the silver b/c of the extra perks that I know my FI and i would enjoy.

I agree with the girls. We did the Free Wedding and just added on items we wanted. It ended up being cheaper for us that way. The only thing was to qualify for the Free Wedding we had to book into a premium room.

I don't believe this! Both of us are Canadian and we got the Free Sweetheart Wedding. Originally we were booked for the silver package, and after reviewing what we wanted, we realized the Free package was plenty and we just added on the flowers and a few other small details. The only thing to get the free wedding was we had to book into a premium room. But we figured spend the extra money on the nicer room/perks and not on the wedding items we didn't want.

Also I would compare the Free/Pearl/Silver/Gold packages and see what you actually want/need. If the Free would work, I simply told my WC that we were switching (I didn't ask- I just told her!) and there was no problem. But of course knowing Lomas, they have pulled and quick one and changed the rules again. But I would try for it! Good luck.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
