Hi there, thanks!  Yes, I sent the DJ the list of songs (filled out his form) 2 1/2 weeks before the wedding.  I asked my WC about the difference between the 2 Lomas DJ's and All Music has an MC, while the other does not.  Our DJ had the Hava Nagila song for us!

Amanda, I have two quick questions for you... Did you have a choice between DJ All Music and Mega DJ from the Lomas website? The reason I ask is because there is a $500 difference between them!  Also, did you feel like you had enough lighting for your smores bonfire event?

Thanks so much! :)

~Tamara~

See post below regarding the DJ.

I would ask for additional lighting for the dessert table... but the bar and around the fire had perfect lighting.

Hi TKUZMA! I did ask my WC about websites for the DJ's, but the ones they gave me are from the Lomas website. They both seem similar in pricing, check them out. I wish there were more reviews or something to go by, I don't feel comfortable booking unless I know they're a great DJ! Hopefully some ladies on here can help us out =)

Hi Jenny, I've searched and I can't find websites for them.  However, I haven't asked my WC about it, so maybe they do have one...? Let me know if you hear anything :)

I don't know if it helps for comparison, I got a quote back from DJ Mannia today (who I've heard is highly recommended!) for $990 for 4 hrs.  I was thrilled until I realized I would still owe another $800 on top of this to Karisma.

Question for you ladies...so as time passes it seems like our guest list gets smaller and smaller, which is ok with me; I'm thinking we'll likely have 30 guests, max 40 and that's pushing it.  Initially I was thinking 50 guests, so I thought for sure I'd hire a DJ.  Now I'm wondering should I still do a DJ or do something more intimate like a mariachi band for dinner and IPod music after? Thoughts?

I am having a really hard time deciding whether to go with a DJ or just do our own playlists with an ipod for our private reception. I have been to destination weddings with both and more people definitely danced with the DJ but their prices were almost half of the Lomas ones. And the one with the ipod was still a blast! I am just having a hard time justifying the prices! My WC from Miami just got changed which made me a little nervous b/c my first one either got fired or quit. I asked her about the pricing for the smores fire thing b/c it looks like a fun idea but she hasn't got back to me yet. Does anyone know the going rate per person?

Hi there! I was quoted $15 per person for a smores bonfire on the beach, which is for a 2 hr event.  If I can squeeze it into my budget I definitely want to have one.  Amanda (Mnd3A) made it sound like it was a really great event during her wedding week.

Who are all your girls' WC's? I have Valeria Martinez for the ceremony part of my wedding at El Dorado Maroma and Amanda Patek for reception planning and all other events at the Azul Sensatori.

Does the $15 per person includenthe dessert table and private bar? Not bad if it does! And what time do most people do it? My WC was Dena Henfield and is now Erika Torres.

I had such a hard time figuring out who was who in the zoo.  I did get an e-mail from Dena as well a couple of weeks ago, does that mean she's gone? Also, for reserve the date I was dealing with Lynda Gomez.  There has also been an e-mail from Nahiomy Paulino for reserving a block of rooms.  Can anyone tell me why we need so many people to deal with over there?  I am still not clear as to who my actual WC is going to be....lol

This is the information I received from my WC, Erika Torres, on the smores bonfire. For $15/pp, it is not bad. And based on the pic and review from Amanda it looks like a lot of fun. I will try to remember to request for more lighting by the dessert table. My wedding is on a Saturday so I am not sure if I am going to have this event on thursday or friday night. I think I will decide this once i know exactly how many people are coming.

To our newest AS brides: Can you give any feedback on your experience with either of the Lomas approved photographers and DJ's? I'm having a hard time finding any reviews or information, and I'm not thrilled with what I've seen thus far. If I have to pay the outside $800 fee, I want It be sure it's necessary & also worth it. Please help thanks ladies =)

I booked with DJ Doremixx b/c he came HIGHLY recommended by many of the past brides and they said it was well worth paying the vendor fee of $800. His fee is not outrageous and if you do not add on extra stuff it would be about $800 for the night. Like you, I was having a hard time looking up reviews of the approved DJ's. I just chalked it up to most brides did not use the approved DJs? that is just my assessment....

As for the photographer, I went with Elizabeth Medina. Instead of paying the vendor fee, I have added her to my guest list since I will be receiving 1 free room. I looked into Claudia photo and Ivan Luckie photography, who also had great reviews from other brides. Unfortunately, they are also not approved photographers.

sorry i am not much help on Lomas approved photographers and DJs

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
