You go girl!  :)

I found a company Fresa Weddings (great reviews online & very prompt to responding to emails). The company quoted me $650 for the fire dancers for a 25 minute show. I also noticed that they did flowers, cakes, and decorations, so I priced them against what I was getting at Sensatori.

Then I saw a post about the free Welcome Cocktails and someone using it for the wedding cocktail hour. (I was using mine for the day before.) I contacted my wedding coordinator at Azul and asked if I could use that free cocktails for my wedding cocktail hour instead...and she said yes! That is saving me about $1,200.

With Azul I would have gotten the flowers, sheers for the gazebo and a cocktail hour, but going with Fresa Weddings  I am getting the flowers, sheers for gazebo, cake pops, and a fire dancer show for only $300 more. And yes, the price difference does include the vendor fee.

YAY!

I opted for "ivory" flowers as I wanted it to match my dress, and they were WAY off....I now wish that I had done more color in my bouquet as to not have such varying colors of whites....

I like the idea of the coral in your bouquet to match our daughters dress.

:)

Good luck

Or something a little more colorful with salmon and peach roses (I do not want full on vibrant colors - they're pretty; just not what I'm going for):

I have no bridesmaids but my 12 year old daughter is participating in the ceremony and wearing a coral colored dress.  Opinions???  Thanks!

Hello,

Hopefully you hear soon, that was the worst part for me, nailing down a date!!!!  :)

You will be assigned an off-site coordinator (they are in Miami) and they help with the details as you go....OR you could do what most of us did on this site..use all the girls of present and past, as you get the inside tips and tricks from the best!!!  ;)

I would suggest going back and reading as much of this thread as you can...you will know EVERYTHING and then some on what is offered that is good/no so good etc.

(it is also overwhelming....so beware)

Enjoy this time planning, have FUN...and though you won't believe me when I tell you now, but you really could plan it all once you get down there....your first day you will have a meeting with caterers, wedding coord. managers etc. and they go through ALL of your options with you there!  So don't stress too much!

You will love the Sensatori...we were married there in October 2011, and I had the time of my life!!!!!

:)

We tried so many dates & places and we wound right back up at the Sensatori [which was my FI first choice!]. Seems like everything is already booked, so keep your fingers crossed for us please today =)

So while I'm waiting to hear back, can anyone help a newbie out with what we should do once the date is confirmed?

When do all the details like menu options get discussed with the rep?

We're hoping it will be May of next year =)

Thanks so much so excited!!

Hi ladies!!! Counting down the days, 71 to go!!! Questions... Anyone have any cute welcome gift bag poems for your guests?? Also, those who brought own lanterns or decorations, did you ship them down ahead of time or pack them with you? We have lanterns and maracas and they are taking up a lot of space in suitcases... Trying to find easier way to transport them. Thanks!!!!

2ndtimesacharm- I personally would go with a coral and ivory color flower mix and then bring down turquoise ribbon to wrap the bouquet. You won't get overwhelmed with color and the hint of coral in the bouquet will stand out in the photos. MishMash- we had lanterns and just packed them flat in the bottom of a suitcase. We had lots of OOT bag stuff as well, so that took lots of room. My advice, if you have good friends see if you can spread the weight a little. If not, call your airline in advance and try to get a good rate for extra weight. Shipping is not suggested because of customs and the hotel losing your package ( they will not take responsibility). I didn't really have any cute welcome poems, but a sincere welcome and thanks for attending/making the trip was what we did for our OOT bags. I think I have the welcome booklet in my planning journal if you want to look.

Hey ladies!

I have not been on here in a while!

slarso13- We had such a hard time choosing the location for our reception as well but decided to go with Zocalo Alfresco. Our TA has been there so many times and just recently got back and sent me some pics. It looks really cool with the screens, you can have the best of both worlds (indoor/outdoor). My only concern was some people on here mentioned the lighting in there is bad for pics.

Has anyone asked about sending stuff to the resort? I am wondering b/c I found some maracas online that are made in Mexico but the shipping is expensive to Canada (and I just dont want them to get shipped here, pack them all and pay for overweight luggage, then take them back to where they came from). They said they will send them to resorts BUT they need to have contact info, etc. I havent even asked our wedding coordinator yet b/c the thought of it worries me a little.

Our theme and colours for the wedding is peacock- green, blue, purple, etc! Haha the bridesmaid's dresses are almost royal blue and then we will most likely have mainly green accents with it. The nice thing with the peacock feathers is they pick up so many different colours so I dont have to worry about matching too much. And they are light to pack to take along for decorations! Since the price of the Lomas stuff is making me a little crazy, here are what we are going to do for bouquets/boutonnieres (sp?) and I found them on Etsy. We will just customize them with ribbon in our main colours.

I didn't initially like the idea of artificial flowers but I found these ones made from that rubbery/foam material and I have seen them in real life so I know how real they look and feel!

Thanks Mwise17!!  I looked at your pics and thought your bouquet was very pretty but when I looked very close I could see what you were saying about the varying colors.  I wasn't planning on having any greenery in it so I wanted them to be all the same shade or it would look weird.  I ended up going for the other one with the coral/salmon roses.  Thanks for advice!!

Murmel - THANKS!!  I will do that.  $10 extra just to wrap the bouquet so we're bringing our own ribbon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
