Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Amanda,

everything included, photographer, videographer, decorations, props, sky deck fee, set up fee, private menu fee, our trips, rings, (not attire tho) etc. we calculated around 9-10 grand. This really depends on how detailed you'd like to get and how many guests you have. We had menu cards, luggage tags, a photobooth, we mailed people brochures and little thank yous, we're also giving them a book with all the photobooth pictures. Also, photography and video were really important to us. Plus the skydeck and menu alone were close to 4 grand. Also, we had 65 guests.

We had perfect weather all week. Not a single cloud or rain, however; it was windy. The day of our wedding was super windy, more so because we were on the roof. Temperatures however were perfect. Night time was still warm, no need to for pants or sweaters.

good luck!

I have literally read hundreds of pages of posts on this thread and love all the ideas!  I'm leaning towards the Azul Sensatori as I love the kids area and all the wonderful things everyone has to say about the hotel.  We will have a lot of kiddos coming and we have two of our own so the kid's area is a huge bonus!

Just wondering for past brides what your final costs looked like and what your totals were for having a wedding there.  In all the posts I've read nobody has really commented on how much they actually spent total on their wedding.  This would be so helpful for me to budget and start planning.  Although my wedding isn't going to be until February of 2014!!  Yep, get used to me on here, ladies.  lol

I'm also interested in the weather from all of you February brides and if it was windy etc, what the night temps are like.

Thanks so much and looking forward to getting to know some of you!!

Amanda

Thanks missmely!

That is exactly the kind of thing that helps me out.  I'm a photographer so I know how important photography and videography are to me and that's definitely an area that I will be splurging on.  We're plannning for around 50 guests and I plan to do a lot of DIY stuff thanks to the amazing ideas all of you guys have given me.   :)

Amanda -

I got married at AS in November, 2011.   Although I still haven't totaled up our wedding costs (something I still want to do, for curiosity sake more than anything else), I would estimate we spent around $15,000.  That includes everything.  The trip (a major part of the cost as we were traveling for about 2 weeks), clothes, two dinner parties for our 67 guests (welcome beach bbq and reception), DJ, decorations, paper stuff ( I spent a lot in this area  - STDs, formal invitations, thank you for booking cards, bridesmaids cards, thank you cards, reception menus, place cards, paper flowers, palm frond fan programs, etc.), flowers, shoes, jewelry, OOT bags and their contents, wedding party gifts, chair sashes, etc.  One major thing we didn't pay for was photography because my uncle is  wedding photographer, so he did it for us (and for that reason I don't have any idea of what a good photographer costs - but I'm sure that woudl have added at least a couple of thousand to our bottom line).

That being said, we weren't working from any specific budget, and didn't try to skimp on anything.  Depending on what you want, you can spend WAY less than that, and still have an awesome wedding.  If you have less than 40 guests, the free Spoons dinner is a great way to save money.  From what I saw, it is pretty closed off from the rest of the restaurant, and I've heard great reviews about the food.  If you have a private event, you can use your iPod instead of hiring a DJ.  What you have to watch out for is all the resort/lomas charges for things like decorations/flowers.  They WAY overcharge for things.  Sometimes it is worth paying for them to do stuff, just for the ease of it (and there really is only so much stuff you can drag with you to Mexico).  But those charges can tend to get irritating after a while.

I will say this - our guests LOVED the beach BBQ welcome party that we had the night before the wedding.  We brought absolutely no decorations or anything for that, and just rented the speaker system and used our iPod with a playlist my husband set up.  The music sounded great, and nobody noticed the lack of decorations.  The setting was beautiful, weather was great, and the food was great.  Of course, I think our guests enjoyed all the little touches that we spent a lot of time and money on for the reception as well, but my point is that it isn't necessary.  Your guests will have an amazing time regardless, and if budget is an issue, there are a lot of ways to make it work and still have the wedding of your dreams!

Hi Amanda I am flying out May 25th but the wedding is not until June 3rd. We may cross paths at some point. Seems like your very organised. Are you dealing with a Lomas planner? MIne was very good at getting back to me at the beginning but I am finding her very slow at the moment. What have you got left to sort out? I feel like I have forgotten lots. Gemma.x

Hey Gemma!

We are going to miss each other because we're leaving for another resort for the honey moon on the 21st.  I'm dealing with Elizabeth Riff, Karisma wedding planner in Miami.  She's been fantastic.  I still have to decide on the groom's, groomsmen (only 2), and bridesmaid (only 1) attire, purchase wedding jewelry and shoes, make place cards, OOT bags, begin planning the ceremony script (my fiance's father is officiating), and some other random things. My mom is going down early and is going to go to the market to purchase centerpiece stuff, because there was no way we're spending $80-$100 on Lomas flowers for centerpieces.  What about you??  So exciting!

We are expecting around 75 and we think we may have more. So glad to hear about one that size. Everyone there keeps seeming shocked when we say 75 even!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
