Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I asked mu husband about this, since he was the one that handled everything with the DJ.  He said it took a couple of days for to get confirmation.  Honestly, try not to worry about it.....they'll get back to you!  Once we got to the resort, Ivan came to meet with us to go over everything, and they were very legit and professional.

Hello all,

I actually am the groom-to-be and my fiancé Jessica and I have recently began setting our eyes on the Azul Sensatori resort. This forum is so vastand in-depth I truly do not know where to begin.

A few questions/concerns we had were:

Is the beach/ocean truly un-swimable? I've been reading even with excellent reviews that the ocean is overrun with seaweed and rock making the desire to swim less than stellar.

The swim-up suites by the pool: in theory, these look awesome to me. I was in a wedding in punta Cana this past July and I remembered the hotel having these sites and I thought how convenient and cool the looked so when I saw that Azul Sensatori has them I immediately got excited. I've been treading though that a major issue with these suites is that they are swamped w mosquitos and a pretty awful smell that carries over into the rooms.

Reception fees: we are expecting between 40-50 people attending our ceremony and all of our friends/family are pretty big drinkers (ha) so we wanted to look into possibly reserving one of the restaurants for dinner after the ceremony and then just go to one of the bars for drinks. Is there anything they have set up for dancing or no? Ideally we would just bring one of our iPhones and plug it into a speaker system if possible? Another idea reception wise (again something I experienced in punta Cana) was to just rent a boat/yacht that would take us somewhere in the ocean and have a meal/drinks/swimming then return to te resort later and continue the fun at one of the bars - has anyone looked into this option or know where to look?

We currently are going through a TA who is stating they will handle every detail but I still like to research this information for myself.

I apologize if these questions have already been asked but thank you for any and all information! It is truly, truly, TRULY appreciated!

Hi ThomasK,

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully some of us former brides can help you. I have answered below in red. Good luck, and if you have any other questions feel free to ask. If you click on my profile you should also find assorted photos from the resort.

The beach is not the normal stunning Mexican beach. Althought the sand is nice and the beach beds are great, the ocean directly in front of the resort is an old coral reef. So it is very shallow, and rocky/coral. If you want to swim in the ocean, walk about 500 yards north along the beach (when you face the ocean, turn left), right at the point is a beautiful area with white sand and you can just walk into the ocean for a swim. No rocks and it gets chest deep better quickly. Just be careful not to go to far north, or you will run into a nude resort. There are signs warning any guests who may find this offensive.

We have now been to the Azul 3 times and I have not seen a mosquito (April, September and January). There are however sand fleas, so if you spend a lot of time on the beach you might get some small bites on your feet/lower legs. But I find that everywhere I go down south has sand fleas. The swimup suites are fantastic (and if you stay in the premium suite there is also a hot tub). We have never had any issues with smells.

-You can't reserve any restaurants at the Azul, unless it's for a private reception (ie. you are paying extra) and then you can only reserve a certain section of Spoon or the patio at Zoloco (mexican).

-The drinking- no problems! There are bars everywhere and great bartenders LOL

-There is Mojioto lounge upstairs in the main lobby that has live music every night where you can dance. Also the teen's club late at night has a DJ where you can dance. The adult swimup bar also has live music (guitar, saxophone) early in the evening, usually 6-9pm.

-We brought an Ipod dock station with us, and used this to play music. It worked great and there were lots of plugs all over the resort.

-There are a few yacht rentals, although I have no experience with them. You will have to book this privately.

My husband and I travel quite a bit, and by far the Karisma resorts are truly fantastic. The food is the best we have had down south (and my husband is a former chef). If you have any kids coming the Sensatori kids club was great, we had 7 young cousins and the parents felt like they didn't have kids. The kids were kept entertained morning til night (9pm). If you don't have kids coming, I would suggest also looking at the adult only resorts, El Dorado (Seaside, Royale, and Maroma).

Good luck.

I chose the pick and choose menu and opted to add a 2nd "app" of risotto to ensure they had enough food.  We also mailed out a entree selection card (I included it in my pre-travel mail out, along with a brochure, luggage tags, and get-ready CD)....they had a choice of either Filet Mignon or Salmon & Chicken....it was plenty in the end.

Menu - soup, risotto, entree, creme brule (that I wouldn't recommend...it was more like pudding/jello mix) - was the ONLY thing I didn't like food wise all week...go figure it was on my wedding day! lol

It's $18 per person and it includes an appetizer and dessert. We didn't want to bother asking everyone what they wanted, plus our guests are all easy going... I shall see if this was the right choice in a couple of weeks!

Hi there,

Well I have to say that Azul Sensatori was awesome!!!  Our wedding was fantastic and the coordinators did a wonderful job.  I just wish we had more time to enjoy the resort after the wedding.  One week is just not enough.  We are now looking at going back at another time.  We need a real honeymoon....lol.

Thanks again for everyone's advice and ideas on here!!!

Happy New Year!!!

I was thinking of maybe giving maracas as a favour. I know a few of you have done this and I would like to know where you bought them? In Cancun, Playa Del Carmen or from Lomas???  Any suggestion would help :)

Has anyone ordered churros at their reception?

Thanks again...101 days until I get married!!!!!!

hi!

I was going to order them from http://www.amols.com/ ..... I found them to be the cheapest even after shipping and taxes (I see you're in ontario) but my cousin will bring them with her (she lives in Mexico). Another option is to order them and have them shipped to buffalo to a shipping house where they will receive packages for you. I did this with a number of things... bows and organza fabric bolts from amazon.

happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
