Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

This is a very odd question but my niece keeps asking if she can blow bubbles at the wedding...I wasn't planning on having bubbles because I figured it would be too windy, but she is my godchild and I usually let her have what she wants :)  My mom keeps telling me it won't be too windy...has anybody ever tried to use bubbles?

I waited until I knew what I wanted for sure (private party vs. spoons dinner, dj vs. ipod etc.) and then just added it all up and checked it against the packages, it just seemed that the free package worked best for having a private reception.

:)

Just add it all up and see what makes sense.

It would be useful if I could understand everyone's abbreviations that they are using. Whats a AHR and DW. Sorry to souns stupid but I'm new to this, I'm not even sure I'm replying right haha!

I've had some really useful info from the karisma hotels website, I emailed them directly and have been in touch with a  wedding co-ordinator who has told me about all the extra's I can buy for my wedding. What do most people do?...buy the basic wedding and add to it, or has anyone actually paid for the silver/gold pacakage? xx

I was considering it. Ive seen it in some pictures and it looked lovely. The only reason i changed my mind was the weight in my luggage taking it over!!! I say why not. If its windy at least it will keep your niece occupied.

Thanks for the info.. Ive just had a read through your review.. again lol.. Its great, helps out alot as our timescale is quite similar.. I am getting married at 2.30pm.. Having our cocktail party at 4 - 6pm and reception 6 - 10pm.. How busy did you find the beach at the time of your cocktail party? I see you rented the amp too.. I am also going to do this, how did u find it? Did someone control the Ipod through the reception?

When you requested your bouquet did you just tell them what colours you wanted? Or did you supply them with pictures also?

Sorry for the all questions.. bridal brain is on one today! lol xxx

The beach really wasn't too busy during our cocktail reception. (we also got married in January, and most people find it cools off late afternoon and leave the beach) Plus the staff set up cocktail tables and steer other guests around the area, so it feels a little more private. The waiters and bartender were fantastic!

The amp worked so well for our group. We didn't expect it, but there was a staff member handling the amp/ipod the whole time. So during dinner, he just played our Dinner playlist. And we had a number of speeches during dinner, so he just faded the music out, let the MC/guests speak, and then faded the music back on. Same thing after dinner, he just started our Dance playlists, and when people wanted to use the mic, he just faded the music. It worked out wonderfully! And everyone, since we had a large party, could hear the speeches/music.

Bouquet....here was my only slight disappointment in the wedding. I had wanted specific colors (didn't care about flower types, just the colors). It was to be a tribute to my mom (she could not attend due to illness). Anyway I wanted to have matching colors to her bridal bouquet. So I sent photos and had them list the colors in the detail sheet (purple, pink and white). Anyway I ended up with pink, different pink and white. Still beautiful flowers...but my only disappointment! But my bridesmaids came to the rescue, they ran around the resort, found a bush with pretty little purple flowers, plucked some and inserted them into my bouquethug2.gif

Technically no. But play dumb...do not tell your WC about this plan. And then when you arrive at the resort talk with the onsite coordinators. Many brides, myself included, leave items behind (I left 8 vases there!) The only thing is, 1) be prepared to pay a small rental fee (which the price my guess will be completely random, depending on who your onsite WC is); 2) the vases may not be what you expect, ie. if you want square and get round; 3) they may not all match, depending on how many you need. But what I do know is the onsite WC will bend over backwards to make it the wedding of your dreams, so to help with this little vases issue should be easy for them!

(in the meantime, if they can't help you, I think it's in my review, but in Cancun there is a party supply place where we bought 8 vases for $12 US total)

I would think bubbles should work. You just have to blow with the wind, not into the wind LOL!

I would bring down small bubble containers for the kids (not just your niece...) and it should be fine. You can find small bottles of bubbles usually at the dollarstore.

Someone asked about the packages. We ended up selecting the "free package" and added on items. It still was cheaper for us in the end and we had what we wanted. Be sure to really see what is included in each package and what you will or will not use.

Melissa - less than 2 weeks! I am so excited for youpinkie.gif

Welcome ElaineNYC!  We got married at Azul Sensatori on 05/28/11.  We used Mike Cantarell of Cancun Wedding Video, and he was actually a preferred vendor for the resort but did not show up on the preffered vendor list.  Ask your WC if they are still preferred, as we paid no outside vendor fee.  Mike was great.  Our highlights video link was ready within a couple weeks.  You can view it at the bottom of my post.  It had 2 songs, one that is sentimental for us, and the other is an upbeat Michael Jackson song.  Within the month our dvd arrived.  It had several segments:  getting ready, the ceremony, video session on the beach and around the resort, first dance, father/daugher and mother son dance, family speeches/toasts, and then the party at the reception.  Mike sent these to us via FEDEX.  He was awesome!  We used Ivan Luckie Photography for our pictures.  Ivan and Mike worked very well together.  Ivan hurt his knee after our wedding and had to get surgery, so it took a long time for us to get the link to our wedding pics (just over 4 months).  It was hard waiting that long, but he is a very nice person, and injuries happen.  Ivan is a very kind person.  We are waiting for our thumbdrive to arrive via UPS.  Both vendors respond quickly to emails.  Here are some pics from Ivan:

I know I do have time, but I would really like to nail down my photographer/videographer. I don't mean to ask a dumb question as I am sooo new to this stuff, but does a photographer normally bring a videographer? Or is the videographer completely separate? I feel this is one of the most important parts of the wedding and I am willing to pay a little more and save on other stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help and guidance!! And congrats to EVERYONE!!!!

One last thing, not sure if anyone is having a cigar roller, but this is very important to my fiance. I believe it is $400 for 2 hours (?). They only roll Cuban cigars for 1/2 the time. But my fiance wants all Cuban. I have asked how much this would be and I am waiting on an answer. Once I know, I will post that info. :)

THank you for posting.....I am less than 2 weeks now and have Ivan Luckie doing our wedding too!  :)

What did you tell Ivan exactly about the style of pics you wanted?  Did you meet up with him prior to the big day?

I really like your pics, you looked beautiful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
