Thanks for the info about the private event and the kids being 50% off for dinner.  Good to know!

The only fee you have to pay is for your dinner reception should you choose to do a private event. And for that you pay per guest (it has nothing to do with when they arrive, or who they booked with. As well for you upcoming brides KIDS are 50% less!!! So make sure you tell your WC how many adults and how many kids.)  If you are using the Spoon reservation (free with a wedding package), I think it's free for up to 20 guests and then you pay seperately for the extra guests.

I don't know anything about a courtesy package, unless you mean your TA offered you a free package for x-number of other packages sold. In which case, the TA does not have to include that family of 4, since they did not book with them.

Take a deep breath and work on one thing at a time! It will all work out in the end. Take care of yourself and ask for others to help get things sorted!

Good luck.

oh yay! im not alone in March anymore :) Where are you from akopca? Its been a while since ive been on here and boy does the time fly. the countdown clock on Weddingwire actually makes me wanna throw up. My shower is coming up and ive been busy getting that ready so wedding planning took a break for a while. My registry experience was not as fun as they make it look in movies. It was stressful never owning a house and having to decide what i need and what colours and i just felt so overwhelmed. The mothers kept being practical and i couldnt decide on stupid china patterns lol Then my fiance and I went together and it was fun. We just decided to say "who cares lets just get what we want" and without the pressure we actually enjoyed it. I am having my dress made, I just tried it on the other day and fell in love with it!!! so excited but so nervous about having everything done. i am a huge procrastinator. Congrats to everyone! some of the pics and videos on here look absolutely amazing and I cannot wait!!! After attending many weddings this summer all I can say is "Thank God we going away!!!" we are all doing the right thing ladies. woohooo!

Hello Ladies!

My name is Jannell and I have been reading your posts for quite some time now and I thought it high time that I put my two cents in.

This sight has been such a blessing to me. I feel like I know so much about all of you ladies. Thank you for being so open and honest. I am SUPER stressed about the wedding because so many people in my family are annoyed about the fact that we are going the destination route. I booked through destinationweddings.com, Midge Kramer is my Wedding Planner. She is awesome! I was going to do a group agreement but changed my mind after reading some horror stories about newlyweds having to foot the bill for unused rooms...my planner keeps telling me that I would not be responsible but the contract seems pretty clear to me. At this point, I am just focused on making the day special for my fiance and I. We are getting married on August 10, 2012 at Azul Sensatori (Kerry872  can you add me to the list please). I chose the Sky wedding. Unfortunately my fiance was laid off recently so many of the wedding details will be left up to me unless my mom decides to contribute, which I think she will. The reduced income has me crazy about wedding budget. So here are a few of the questions/concerns that I have...I know you girls can help....

1. Where can I find out the cost of bouquets for myself and bridesmaids? How can I view the options available? My detail sheet has a listing for flowers but it is empty. Have any of you gone with real touch fake flowers? If so, where do you purchase them and were you happy with the quality/look of them in photos?

2. Our wedding comes with a complimentary dinner reservation for 40 at one of the resort's restaurants... has anyone done this? Should I stick with that option or get a private reception? I am guessing that I cannot do any decorating at the restaurant. I am planning on having a welcome BBQ or S'mores bonfire the day before the wedding so I don't want to spend even more on another private reception if it's not necessary...I just figured we could get married, go to dinner and then to one of the clubs to party...my concern is that I would miss out on the first dance, speeches etc. What are your thoughts?

3. What fabric is used for the gazebo sheers and chairs? Does anyone know the length that I will need?

Hey popo28!  Funny you say that about your issues with registering.  We had the same problems.  We dont own a house yet either and the first day we went out it was VERY stressful and we did not enjoy it at all.  Then we went home, talked about it, went out again a few days later and it was all better and we actually were able to have fun with it.  I live in Colorado but I am from Minnesota.  I'm going back to MN in two weeks for two bridal showers and my bachelorette party - it is going to be quite the wedding weekend!

How many people do you think will be coming to your wedding?

Are you having your ceremony on the beach / sky deck?

So nice to be talking to someone else getting married at the same time!!

Hi Ladies,

I know theres other threads about this but I wanted to get the sensatoris ladies advice! Are any of you having a AHR? And if so is it going to be formal??

My dads very traditional and feels that we should hold a formal AHR for family and close friends that couldnt make the DW.. It will be a sit down meal in the day for ppl that came to the DW and family that could not make it (approx. 80 ppl) including welcome drinks, wine on the tables, 3 course meal etc.. and then an evening reception for everyone else with a buffet..

Sometimes I think that it could be a little OOT seeing as we will already be married but then other times i think 'Ooh sod it! im only doing this once and it will be great to celebrate will people that couldnt be there'

I do deep down love the idea of having the intimate dinner in the day with close friends and family.. But how do we go about it? Do we get introduced in? Or do we just turn up there? Are you having a traditional wedding cake? We plan on all being in full wedding attire..

It will be held 4 weeks after we return from Mexico (Time to get back in our dresses!!)

I would love the advice & opinions of past and future brides!! Thank you xxxx

We ended up hosting 2 AHR after our Mexico wedding. However we did a very informal cocktail evening for both affairs. (they took place in 2 different cities, one for our friends where we live, and the other for family that could not attend) We really enjoyed the laid back feel, since it still felt like a celebration with family and friends, but did not become "another wedding". Everyone was dressed up to go to a nice cocktail lounge, and I wore my wedding dress again (mostly because everyone keep asking me to see it).

Both events were 3 hours long with drinks and waiters walking around with small bite size hor'dourves. It was a great success, and we felt it worked really well.

I think you can choose however you want to celebrate at home, just make sure to not stress yourself out because of it! Keep it simple so that you can enjoy it :)

I am from Toronto Canada. We are having our ceremony on the beach with the reception at Zavas Plaza. My colors are coral and aqua blue. Maybe we can share some stuff. I was looking to bring my own fabric for gazebo and lights etc...lanterns maybe. We are expecting about 30 people i think, maybe more. i will find out soon enough. It's hard to know because some people I thought for sure would come, can't and others i didnt expect to travel are now coming, so we will c. Have you chosen a photographer yet? I am going with Claudia but still have to pick which photographer we want. Our friends are all really excited about the destination wedding, it will be a first for everyone and we have a fun crowd so it should be a great trip :) We just attended the last wedding of the season so now we're next :S Starting to get nervous. Yay, Im glad we'r not the only ones in March now :) Congratulations once again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
