Congrats!  From what I understand, the storms only last about 30 min and then everything clears up!

Thanks Murmel, I have looked at Taylorjackson site and saw your ttd photos.... apsolutley stunning. He looks like a great photographer. I have been in touch with mexicanweddingphotos as I would not have to pay the ridiculous $800 to come into Sensatori and I like his work. He is available on my wedding day too.....hopefully will use him. I am going to see what Herbie thought of caribe as we have an hour in with our gold wedding package. Thanks AGAIN!!! x

Cooking class??? I don't think I have seen that one. They do a pizza making activity for the kids club...

We brought a photographer with us. His name is Taylor Jackson. http://www.taylorjacksonphoto.com/blog/ Some of our photos are on the blog (you just have to scroll down a little)- Miriam and Luke.  You avoid the outside vendor fee, if the photographer is a guest of the hotel for 3 days or more. Otherwise it's now an $800 fee (yikes, used to be $500, which was horrible enough). Photos were super important to us, since a lot of family could not attend so we spent the extra money to have who we wanted. Mind you we found bringing someone down with us was not too bad in the end. I think I spent less with Taylor, than if I would have hired Elizabet Medina.

Melissa, for the laterns use LED throwies. Much easier to transport. Go to my planning thread for the website that we used for the batteries and LED's, super cheap and easy. I'll come meet you for dinner and we'll put them together!

We only had one mom and dad, so we did a bout and a wrist corsage. But really there are no rules, do as you see fit. Luke's mom wore her flower on her dress instead of wrist. If you do choose to buy everyone flowers, yes- you would be expected to pay for them. But again you don't have to do anything at all.

I can't speak about September, but we were watching for weeks before our wedding in July.  Every day was 60% chance of rain.  It rained twice for about 5 minutes each on the day we got there, and then again the day we were leaving, absolutely nothing in between.  The wedding coordinator even called me on the day of the wedding to see if I wanted to change locations because there was a 50% chance of rain.  It was a perfectly sunny day!  So try not to freak out too much, odds are, you'll be fine.  cool.gif

I just got back from my wedding at Azul Beach-- we were down there from July 28-Aug 2.  I freaked out the day before leaving because weather.com predicted 50-60% chance of thunderstorms for the whole five days.  Waste of time to worry about it!  It rained for about ten minutes on a few days, but it was sunny again immediately before and after, so didn't really interrupt beach or pool time!  There were two storms, both in the evening.

We had a 6 pm beach wedding with an indoor reception starting at 7 pm.  The storm clouds started gathering around 5:15 but the staff were awesome and let us keep the ceremony outside; they even had us start a few minutes early, just in case.  The storm hit pretty hard right at 7 pm as we were heading inside from taking our photos.  So I guess we got a little lucky there, but I also give full credit to the staff for really working to make sure we could have the outdoor ceremony.

Another thought-- the gathering stormclouds made for awesome photos!  We have some really dramatic shots with a black sky behind us.  Not sure that I like the metaphor that draws for the marriage, but the photos are really cool!

I would not worry too much about the forecast, but maybe try to plan your reception for an indoor or covered space, just in case.  I was really glad we didn't do a beach reception- even if it hadn't stormed, the wind was too strong most days and nights to comfortably eat on the beach!

Thanks for the insight Laura! I was looking on a live webcam from Cancun today, the forecast said rain and what do you know when I looked on the webcam but bright & sunny! So that totally put me at ease. Thanks for all the input ladies, I won't let the weather "rain on my parade" so to speak lol

WARNING:  BRIDES SEEKING A LEGAL CEREMONY WITH AZUL SENSATORI AND LOMAS BEWARE...OVER TWO MONTHS AND THEY HAVE NOT DELIVERED THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH AS PROMISED.  Be sure to keep a hard copy paper trail of everything you purchase and the email exchanges.  I'm going to have to send them to the BBB.

Ladies my husband and I paid for the gold package $3500, and a judge $500 for a legal ceremony.  We gave both of these business a lot of money as we had 38 guests, and also paid for 2 private events for 38 guests, (the BBQ Deluxe for our welcome party, and the Filet Mignon and Lobster for our wedding).

We were married on 05/28/11 and part of what we paid for was for them to translate our legal documents from Spanish to English and fedex them to us within 30-60 days so that we could have them filed at a court house in the US and be legally married here.  To date, we still have nothing.  I sent an email to my coordinator at Lomas travel in the States and to my travel agent through destinationweddings.com on 05/26/11 because I was getting nervous.  Change of life events for insurance etc. closes after 60 days with my job. 60d days is gone.   My husband has been unable to make any changes.  One email from LOMAS checking into it in May by sending an email to LOMAS in Mexico along with my detail sheet.  It has been over a week, and nothing from destinationweddings.com. and I have not heard anything back from LOMAS.   I even went on thedw.com website this week and and sent my problem to the manager via the website, and nothing.

I guess it is time  to go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint for services not delivered. VERY, VERY, VERY disappointing that after over 2 months in the US we are still NOT legally married here because we have nothing to file at the courthouse.  SHAME ON BESTDESTINATIONWEDDINGS.COM and LOMAS Travel.  What a shame it is to have had the most beautiful wedding we could imagine tainted by their dropping the ball and not seeming to care enough that we have not received an answer to this problem since bringing it to their attention on 05/26/11.

Just a warning to anyone considering the legal ceremony.  frown.gif

So I have made a very basic diagram of how our reception at Zavas Plaza was laid out. Again- not to scale, and the pathways that I can remember I put in, but I think there may have been a few more...

We did not have a "head table", we just used 2 of the regular tables as our 'head tables'. Also the cake table was put out later in the evening, closer to the DJ's table. Hope this helps.

Will someone walk them past the two tables by the walkway?

I am having place cards, does the wedding party make sure that everyone gets theirs?  Who "moves" the guests from your cocktail hour to your reception?  and again, do they pass the tables?

:)

THanks for the diagram, helps!!!!

I'm really sorry to hear this, I hope that it gets resolved soon and you can continue to be Mr. and Mrs. at home too!

If you would like, I would be more than happy to sell to you at a lower price for your wedding. This way you know they will work and be great for Zavas plaza, I will show you pictures of what ours looks like when we get married.

let me know what you think :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
