Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

I know you can get maracas at www.amols.com  they seem very helpful and get back to you quickly.  Where did you get the coozies?  I'd worry about the flutes getting broken in transit but I'm sure if you pack them in styrofoam they'd be fine.  I'd go with giving out the gift bags at check in as you'll have to pay an extra $$ to have them delivered to their rooms (better in our pockets than theirs).

Couple more questions -

What are you guys using for your processional throw? Rice, bubbles or rose petals?

Anybody doing authentic maracas as a favor? Where can you find them on the island for a reasonable price? My coordinator didn't recommend shipping them to the hotel.

Anyone doing a welcome kit? We have bags for each guest with the weekend's itinerary of events along with a custom coozie. I'm thinking of having them delivered to the guest's rooms or given out at check-in.

What are your thoughts on custom champagne flutes and the cake serving set? I keep going back and forth. I don't want to bother with having to transport it down there but I also don't want to regret not having it as a memento as there are so many things we won't get to bring back (i.e. cake, bouquet, etc.)

Thanks again!

Ally

Thanks MishMash!  It was really nice to have some quiet time alone in the salon to collect my thoughts and finish my cards to my Mom and Dad. Our photgrapher was Elizabeth Medina.  She is listed on this site as a vendor and she is one of the kindest souls EVER!

I have airmiles, so could get it for $90 instead of $350!!!  :)

One question though, how did it pack?  hard to tell how big it is from the pic.  and were you worried with it on the beach/on the sand?

My husband just wrapped it in a beach towel and kept the remote in the little baggie it came with while traveling to and from.  While on the beach, we had it on a little wood stub next to the cabana beds that acted as a coffee table and we had no issues with the sand.  It's a great purchase that you will use for years to come as long as you have Ipods.

We did a welcome kit and it had a welcome postcard in it that we both signed, a list of our activities and times, first aid kid, varous medications (tylenol, bendryl, pepto bismol, etc), chips, cookies, lanyard and keyholder, and ear plugs.  We gave them out personally to each of our guests either as they arrived or when they came to our Welcome Cocktail Party, which was on Thursday, the day most of our guests arrived. Our guests LOVED them and raved about them. Everyone mentioned how useful the snacks were when they were done swimming and needed something to hold them over until they dressed for the restaurants.

We took down our engraved flutes and cake serving set.  They look great in our pro photos, but frankly it is one of those details that I could have done with or without.  We transported both sets in their original packaging which was seated in styrofoam.  The day after our wedding, maintenance at AS broke one of our flutes. They apologized and reimbursed us and it was no biggie, it just made me a tad sad.  We reorded the exact same ones from the same company as soon as we returned.  Anyway, in just... neither set made a huge impact on our day.

Btw - you looked STUNNING!  Your pictures are gorgeous as well, you guys looked great. And the 80s hair? I'm just going to leave that alone lol Really, it looked wind blown (which it should as you were on the beach) so that is a good thing.....Congrats and thanks again!!!

Thank you, kindly! :-)  Sure........Don't worry, Edgar will take really good care of you if you can book him. My Mom thinks he did such a great job that she says I should send him a card with a photo of he and I together.  :-)

Hello my Love!!!!  I soooo owe you an email!  I left for travel status early this morning so I was trying to spend time with the family before I left, but I promise to email you back tomorrow for sure.  I LOVE the pictures that you sent of us!  Thank you for sharing them......They are classic good times!!!  My husband loved them and showed them to our neighbors who just married last year.  He bragged to the husband, "I betcha didn't have two brides at your reception." LOL!  I hope you and your husband are well! xoxo

As many on here have said before, don't sweat the details.  I met with Claudia (on-site coordinator) the day before the wedding, and went over everything I wanted.  I ended up changing my bridemaid, groom & best man flowers, beach location, and the cake.  I think dealing with the Miami coordinators prior to arriving at AS created undue stress.  Just my opinion.  Claudia will do whatever she can to make sure you have the wedding of your dreams (her words).

Regarding the dress code - Mark wore pants to Le Chique, and nice shorts the rest of the places.  Even at Le Chique, we saw a guy wearing a t-shirt, jeans and flip flops.  Not my idea of appropriate attire for an elegant restaurant, but from what we saw, no issues with dress code anywhere.

Champagne flutes/cake knife/server - I saw some comments on this.  I decided to bring them.  We had a whole suitcase we checked that was just wedding stuff.  We had fans, bubbles, sand ceremony (with 3 extra vases for the kids, plus 5 colors of sand), OOT bags which contained a picture frame, bottle opener, spanish guide, customized lip balm, and customized plastic drinking cups.  We had some sand toys for the kids as well.  Instead of a guest book, we brought an 11x17 mat that everyone signed, so that was a carry-on.

We did the Spoon dinner for our wedding reception, and it was fantastic.  It was honestly the best meal of the week.  We had other great food (Le Chique and Tapaz for sure), but we were really pleasantly surprised by Spoon.

I had my hair & makeup done by Edgar, both the trial and the day of, and he was fantastic.  Although I have to say that the two hairstyles were different.  I did the trial the day we had reservations at Le Chique, which worked out well.  If you can stand it, save yourself some money and just book hair and makeup for the wedding day.

Patiently waiting for the proofs from our photographer (we used Matias Cano) but here are some a friend took:

Hi Karla! Welcome back and Congrats!  Glad to hear that everything went well!  I love your sand ceremony and the fact that the two of you incorporated your children into it.  :-)  I apologize for the delay with the parcel and I sent you an email at your personal email addy.  After you get settled, please send me and email and we will chat.  I apologize again for the inconvenience.  Congrats again!

Hi

I feel like a stressed bride atm!....... looking for some advice please!. Had an argument with my mam and dont know what to do!!!

I have alway's had a strained relationship with my mam. She aslway's worked when we were younger and I cannot remember much laughter in our house as a child. My brother and I were always alone as children. She has not helped me with any of my wedding plans. I took her to see my dress, she loved it, which really choked me up, as this is the only time I have seen her get excited about anything to do with my wedding! The last few week's I have said to her, I feel as tho she doesnt really care about my wedding and does she definitly want to go?. She replied of course I want to see you in that beautiful dress. ( not the fact of our wedding ) and rambled about how she does not want to work till the age of 67! she is only 55 and what this had to do with my wedding .....I dnt know!!!!!

I have sat all morning making  thank you for booking boarding pass card's and my mam walked in on her lunch. I showed her the card's and she lifted her head up, nodded and walked in the kitchen to make a cup of tea! My patience is running out by this time! I thought maybe she will say they look good when she walk's back in. No not a thing! she sat down and started eating her lunch. I closed my computer down and said I'm sick of this, you could not care less about my wedding. She replied I dont know why your stressing. would any of you other brides have felt like this???? or am I just being far to emotional!!! I said i have worked on them all morning and you lift your head up like that. Had that have been my future mother in law she would have looked and said they great. My mam replied well I'm not that type of person. I said I'm your daughter! I would be very excited about my son's wedding. It feel's you do not care about mine.

She said I dnt know why you are having a go at me and taking your stress out on me. I said this is my wedding, you should be helping me plan it. She said your taking your stress out on me because you carn't afford it! I feel so angry she said that because my fiance has worked so hard this year to pay for our wedding. He is a kitchen fitter and got all the invoices saved with extra jobs he has done to pay for our wedding. This has made me feel sick that my own mam has said we cannot afford it.When infact we can and are paying for every detail ourselves! I have never asked or expected for anyone to contribute anything apart from their own holiday cost. Before we booked we told everyone our plan's and the people who booked all said they wanted to come inc my mam and she would pay for her hol.

My mam had booked and paid £500 (she tell's me it was, I personally think it would cost more to fly from England to malaysia)  to go to Malaysia in May. To her boyfriends niece's wedding. She had never met this lady getting married but still flew over to her wedding. I said you were more excited going to Malaysia. She said that cost me £500 and your's is costing me £1700. That is for her holiday for 2 weeks. She said I never got any help with my wedding. I paid for everything myself. I said I dnt want any help to pay for it. I just want you to help plan it. She said well I dont like wedding's and I'm not interested in Weddings.I said just because yours never worked out, doesn't mean you have to tie every wedding with the same brush!. She stormed out.

I have cried and cried! carn't get the thought of her being so cheeky to say we carnt afford it out of my head!!! when all i wanted was for her to have some excitement about going!

I chose to get married abroad as my 2 sons have not been christened due to my mam saying if I invited my dad's side of the family then she would not go. I thought to get married abroad would be far easier and it is something that I have alway's dreamed of.

My mam never bother's with my children.

I feel as tho I don't want my mam to come, if she does not want to help me plan.

Has anyone got any advice or experiencing similar things with their mum?

Also my brother may not be able to come as he is not getting as much work and might not be able to afford it. My niece is going to be bridesmaid too. sad.gif

My dad has now told me he will need to sell his house to be able to come. His house has been on the market for quite some time. He is a driving instructor and not getting much work. I feel ill with worry about the whole thing nowcrybaby2.gif

Rachael- All of us have had panic moments where we begin to second guess our choices. I realize we all want certain people to be there, but sometimes it might not work out that way. What you should concentrate on are you, your children and your soon-to-be husband! Make it the trip and wedding of YOUR dreams! Whether or not you get support from certain people can be frustrating, especially your Mam. But she might be worried about interfering or really have no interest in the wedding. Don't sweat it! Just let her do her own thing. Sounds like she will be attending, so I would treat her as you would your other guests. And on your wedding day, let her help you get dressed...since it sounds like that part is of interest to her.

As for your planning, look to your friends and others (mother in law) who support you and are excited for you. Right now you need to concentrate on the positive and happy side of the wedding planning. And it will all fall into place and be wonderful in the end!

Good luck and we're all here to support you!

I agree with Miriam....I had a wee bout of this myself with my cousins, but as time went on, I realized that I shouldn't have expected so much out of people that have never really supported me (which was VERY hard for me because I ALWAYS support them and felt like this was totally unfair).  But I didn't want to look back with regret...this should be your time, planning should be fun (with a few hiccups along the way), and I would just not bother showing her anymore of your details for her approval, and would agree, treating her like any other guest from here on out is in your best interest.

Everything will be wonderful, and in the mean time, we are here for a two pager rant if you need....

;)

Keep Smiling!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
