Another question:

Welcome BBQ on the beach...I know some of our past brides did this.....did you include anything?  Just a dinner and some dancing after?  I can't think of anything creative to do at this time...as well, is it dark on the beach?  do they provide lighting?

:)

Hi!

We did a welcome beach BBQ and it included a BBQ buffet and open bar for 4 hours. We did a slide show before dinner and had music but nobody danced.  It was fun but not sure if it was worth the money.  We got married at Azul Beach and the resort is very small and its very easy to have the restaurants set up tables for large parties which worked out well for us.  They provided lighting but the lighting was terrible...Very hard to see anyone or your food after the sun went down.  We asked for more lighting but they didn't provide any additional lighting...

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

:)

Did you have to rent the AV equipment for the slide show?  Did you have the slide show on the beach?

I am going to have a cocktail hour on the beach (maybe more like a cocktail hour and a half)....but by the looks of past pics, there is no where to sit during this time.  I am worried it is too long to not have seating as an option....is there an option?  was this an issue for any of you that have had the cocktail hour on the beach?

:)

We did 2 cocktail parties, and there was no seating at either. (one on the beach, one at Zavas Terrace) However they do set up some bar height tables for people to place drinks/food on. I think if you were to simply request the waiter to grab a chair for someone who needed one it would not be a problem. But the time really does fly by and you'll hardly notice that there were no chairs.

But you totally just confirmed that I will definitely be wearing mine. Just curious, how was the dress after the shoot? Was it completely ruined?

Tisha- WOW! Stunning photos. Very sexy and I am sure you are thrilled with the results :)

Justine- we did a TTD as well, and my dress was much cleaner after the swim then after the wedding party. It seems the salt and sand got most of the black dirt off the bottom edge of the dress for me! LOL (Keep in mind, depending on the fabric of your dress, it may or may not fare as well in water. Mine was lace over nylon and satin layers)

OK, so we did bags for everyone, when really we should have just done 1 per room. We spent a ton of money on them, and a lot of time as we hand stamped everything. Only two people used them throughout our trip, but people appreciated meds, sunblock, aloe vera, and candies. Really, I'm not sure if it was worth it but you have to get your guests SOMETHING for going through all this trouble and expense. I'm glad I did it but if you could think of something else...

We did OOT bags and our guests loved them! I think we saw almost every guest using the bag at one time or another. We also included some meds, lip balm, small snacks, pen, and welcome booklet.

Anyone have pictures or did anyone see different set ups while you were there?

Thanks

We did the exotic gazebo package. But when I got to Mexico, I said I didn't want the bouquets hanging from the gazebo. Instead they placed one on the table for the ceremony, and the other was at the dining location. We also asked NOT for the 'candy stripping' and to just hang the sheers instead. (Our WC had no problems doing this, at no extra charge. But I know some girls were not as lucky) (This is the closest photo I have...sorry it doesn't show the table with the flowers on it)

Did anyone have candles?  anyone planning on using candles?  I just don't want to have to pack up all the glass candle holders....will be too heavy to travel with I Think.

??

We had tealights in glass holders and they all blew out. Unless you can find the battery operated ones, I would not bother.

Hi Ladies,

I was hoping that someone who has already had their wedding or been for a site visit, can put me at ease.  I had planned to have my reception at Zavas Plaza, but unfortunately, it never got reserved and is being used by another bride.  As I don't want the wedding on the beach and or completely inside, my wedding coordinator has reserved Zavas Terrace instead.  I have about 70 guests attending and she has assured me that this space will accommodate all, including a dance floor.  Any observations you have about this location for a reception would be appreciated.  I'm also not crazy about the color scheme (yellow and red) and have heard mixed reviews that there is little or no breeze.  I'll take all the good and the bad, so don't hold back.  I would prefer to be prepared and not completely disappointed.  Am I over thinking the negatives of this location?

That sounds awesome.  I don't see it listed on their banquet menu :(  I just emailed our wc to ask her about it.

 Thanks for sharing :)

Is the Zavaz Terrace the one on the outside of the building?  I was thinking it was another spot by the pools.  I know the other bride that got married on my wedding day used that location and she had I believe, 63 guests.  I walked by the set up and it looked really nice.  She hasn't mentioned any negatives and her pics look great.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
