Hi Ladies!!

I have been sooo MIA but I wanted to check in on all of the May brides. I know there are plenty of you. Maggie, I am so jealous! I want to go back to Mexico so badly and I know you're on your way. I know you'll have a blast. I'm upset that I've missed so many of your weddings. Congrats to Murmel, Lessismore and Tisha. I was able to skim the almost 200 pages I missed and see your pics. Good job ladies!! I hope I didn't miss anyone else.

For those of you that are friends with me on Facebook, you know I am preggers. I am 5 months pregnant and found out this week we're having a girl!!! I said all of that because I have been looking into joining another forum and getting info from people in my same situation BUT I have to say that none compare to this one. I know I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's no place like BDW. The support and info I got here was priceless and I wish I could find that in a forum for expectant mothers but no such luck.

Anyway, happy planning to you all and although I'm not on as much if anyone needs anything, my email is pharmd.caughman4@gmail.com.

Becky, your DJ sounded awesome.  Listening to him, I wished I had splurged for the DJ!  Glad your wedding turned out great.  Sounds like you and your guests all had a fabulous time!

Yay, congratulations!!  That's so exciting!  My hubby and I are hoping to start right away as well :)

Okay, my review is up now.  Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.  My wedding had quite a few hiccups.  The day and week were still fabulous but it wasn't quite as seamless as I'd expected from other reviews.

Thanks so much!  Beautiful wedding photos and the review was so helpful!  Also I checked out your planning post and the proposal - awww, so cute!!!

I have been stressing about the OOT bags and buying stuff here and there for them....  I don't really "love" them tho, and the cost just keeps going up.  I would love for past brides too post their guests reviews on how great or not-great they really are....  because I do wonder! :)

Read th review Good JOB!!!!!

I think most of your hiccups I can handle except the Set-up fee. There is no way I budgeted for 65 people but my FMIL is going to be at the wedding coordinator meeting with me and she is scarey so hopefully we can bring it down. Also on the tipping to be quite honest for the reception I am considering the "set-up" fee the overall tip and then I was going to tip the onsite WC but not that much.

The script doesn't worry me but the Ipod thing does. Can you tell me more of how it got off track. i like to think I made mine idiot proof but you never know

Honestly, I'm not sure what happened with the ipod. I had it set up in playlists, ceremony music, dinner music and reception. Basically all they needed to do was press play and let it roll.  I don't know if it was my guests bugging the guy, or my guests trying to pick songs or what, but basically random music played (I heard at least two songs I didn't pick), I missed out on one slow song that I really liked (I had only picked three slow songs to play throughout the night), and one of the slow songs played three different times!!  I thought our guests were really dancing to the music I chose and when it got all mixed it up, it through the entire night off.  :(

Just make sure you tell the person controlling the ipod to keep the playlist in the order you have, don't let anyone make changes!

As for the tipping, we ended up tipping basically $300 to the wedding coordinator for set up and tip, $160 at the reception for the waiters and such, and more.  I tipped my hair / make up stylist $40.  Oh, and at the salon if you have the GIVC incentive (free hair/make up) you still pay the 10% service charge out of pocket.  We tipped the masseuses and we tipped Lomas travel.  Edy and Felipe were awesome though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
