I have visited two stores, the first time I went alone and the second time I went with my MOH.   I wouldn't recommend, unless you are a fashion diva, going by yourself.  I just was not sure what looked good and what was just ok by myself.  The second time, it was easier because my MOH has a great eye and it was easier to narrrow down the choices.  My sales woman was awesome and spent 2 hours with me trying on dozens of dresses.  I am going back in a few weeks with a couple of my friends to retry the six gowns that we picked out during my visit.   So my recommendation, more than just yourself but less than four individuals should be part of the selection committee.

Good luck!!!  Dress shopping is the best!  Personally, I went to about 6 stores and tried on approximately 24 dresses.  Be sure you focus on what you want and how you envision yourself on your big day.  For me, money was a big deal because we were paying for the entire wedding ourselves.  So, the cheaper the better.  I found a dress that I liked and was considering buying but my mom had to see it  So, before driving to the shop for that dress, we went to a few others, where we ultimately found "my" dress.  Looking back at the pics, I kinda felt like I let my mom guide me a bit too much but as it turned out, that was only b/c the dress I received was a bit bigger and fit me differently.  After alterations, it's beautiful, and will look great on my wedding day.  It has all the features I wanted.

So, long story for that but be sure you have a few features that you want.  Do you want fitted, lightweight, beading, lace??  Oh, and DON'T SETTLE!!  :o)

Let us know how it goes!!

I was wondering who everyone is using for a photographer?  I see Claudia is on the preferred vendors list on the Lomas web site.  Both her reviews and those of her associates are pretty good.   I was going to go with an outside vendor and pay the fee,  but if I don't have to that would also be nice. I could always redirect the money elsewhere.

Soon2beirish- What date are you getting married in April? I'm April 7th at Azul Beach. I liked Claudia but her prices were a bit more than what I wanted to spend. I'm using Anel from Adventure photos and even with the vendor she's still cheaper and I get more with them. Granted I signed my contract when it was still $500 an outside vendor. Does anyone know who they use as a florist? I've changed my mind about centerpieces. Here's where it would be nice if I can tell someone what I like instead of looking for pictures online.

I am using Ivan Luckie.....a lot of great reviews on this forum, and he is super passionate about what he does...that makes me have faith he will capture good shots!

:)

We are bringing a photographer from the US...it turned out to be a better deal for us for several reasons.

1. We have two photographers for our events

2. We are not restricted by the number of hours (Cluadia, Ivan Luckie, and many others were pretty strict on the number of hours they would include...anything above it would be charged at an outrageously high hourly price)

3. For the amount of time we needed (12 hours split between two days), it was cheaper for us to fly our photographer in

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
