Ok Zavas Plaza ladies...Christmas Lights...

Got the quote today...$50 per strand!  Definitely bringing my own!  For those of you planning (or already did) bring lights...how many strands?

Then unfortunately I'll have to rent tiki torches (though $8 is much more reasonable!)...how many of those do you recommend?

Question # 2 of the night.  We were originally planning to go far far away for our honeymoon, but since the wedding is nearly emptying our savings...we're considering saving a flight and staying in Cancun/Riviera Maya area, then do the far away vacation next year.  Anyone have any tips for the #1 most romantic, pampering, perfect Honeymoon resort in the area?  Preferably all-inclusive.

We were going to book El Dorado Casitas...but wanted to check with you ladies first in case you knew of anything better.

I was also quoted $50 per strand!! I think we're going to bring our own and also rent the tiki torches and possibly sparklers when we get down there.  Are you doing the chinese lanterns?  I'm trying to decide how many we need and what sizes to get.

We are also going to El Dorado Casitas for our honeymoon and from all the pictures, it looks amazing.

Hey Justiner57,

There is a thread where a ton of people have shared their ceremonies.  It takes FOREVER to go through.  I only got half way through and have a ton of things to decide between, but it's a great way to figure out exactly what you want and how you can personalize it for you and your FI.  I think most people do the sand ceremony down at the beach.  I guess b/c of possible wind issues??

Anyone doing a symbolic ceremony? We are going to have our good friend be our officiant. Wondering if anyone had a good source for wording for the ceremony? And what about the unity candle vs. sand?

We have chosen to release two white doves at our ceremony, not sure exactly how this will time into the ceremony yet... any ideas?

xoxo

I wanted them as well, but decided not to when I heard the price.  Where are you thinking about having tiki torches?

We are switching to the Excellence Riviera Maya for our "honeymoon" nights, which is only the last 2.  I picked it b/c I wanted to go towards the airport, not away so we have more time there that last day.  It has like 2500 reviews on tripadvisor and most are good.

Tiki Torches - I have no idea where they will go.  I thought I remembered other people having them, so figured I "needed them".  Maybe thats just on the beach though.

Is Excellence Riviera Maya the same as Excellence Playa Mujeres?  I was looking at the later cause its one of the only 5 stars in the area.

I arrive May 4th.  What day do you leave again?  I really hope I dont miss you!

I don't know where you are flying from, but Virgin America and Jet Blue have fare sales quite often (Jet blue had one today) and have direct flights. If you are coming from the west coast Continental has decent prices connecting though Houston. Hope that helps.

On a side note, you may want to reach out to Sunwing.ca to find out if they can help organize airfare and accommodations for you. We recently learned about this company (through this site) and found their prices to be significantly cheaper than the "negotiated" rates destinationwedding.com was able to get. In hindsight, we may have been better off (financially) utilizing Sunwing.

I know my guests will be kind of freaked out if they see rain on the forecast but as long as it isn't raining the whole time we will all be fine. I have already started emailing my WC (Elizabeth Riff) to workout a back-up plan incase it does rain.

Jaime I noticed you are getting married on my birthday, great date choice :) I'm sure this will be a beautiful time of year and I can't wait to see pictures!

May I ask your ladies opinions on airfare? I booked with destinationweddings.com and they don't offer airfare. I've been checking websites everyday, I'm a travel assistant for a reality TV show so it's basically my job, and haven't found anything under $473 with stops. Any advice? Right now it's looking like American Airlines with a layover in Dallas.

Now I feel like I NEED Christmas lights.  ha ha!!  No idea where we would get them right now though!  No, Excellence Riviera Maya and Playa Mujeres are different.  I would have rathered to go to Playa Mujeres but since we were only doing 2 days, we wanted the closest.

We are leaving AS on the 5th, so we will have to try and meet up at least for a few mins (or one beverage!) :o)

Secrets Maroma looks GORGEOUS too!  I would love to go to either of the resorts you all have mentioned.  How long are you guys doing your honeymoon for?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
