Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

I really like this idea! I have been stressing about weight and transporting everything to Mexico, so for our guest book, we decided to purchased a colored photo coffee table book of Riviera Maya. We'll have each guest sign their favorite picture, and we'll be able to have the book out all of the time-- so it's not a "traditional" guest book.

gom4good, I am bringing in my photographer from the states. The reviews are great. I would definitely take a look at his website and the reviews on here: Chris Schmitt http://www.chrisschmittphotography.com. He has been great to work with so far and I'm soooo excited for him to shoot my wedding next month! I thought he would be way out of my price range, but in the end, it was very reasonable. I knew this was one area of my wedding that I couldn't compromise. When we only have 27 guests coming, the only thing we will have to show the rest of our family and friends is our pictures! (I'm honestly getting excited all over again)

Our wedding is scheduled for 5:30pm next month and knowing that the sun is going to go down around 7, I was thinking about doing the first look as well. I don't think my fiance wants too... Any advice?

Our timeline is ...

3:30pm "First Look" - pre ceremony pictures

4:30pm Ceremony

5:00pm Cocktail toast on the sky deck, maybe some group pictures up there

5:30pm - 6:30pm Cocktail hour (food and drinks) at Plaza Zavas (we'll still be taking some pictures)

6:30pm - 10:30pm Reception at Plaza Zavas

We have our photographer scheduled for 7 hours, 3pm - 10pm

Hope that helps!

Oh...and about the first look...I don't think my fiance is crazy about the idea either .. but it's either that, or stay away from our guests for longer and I don't want to do that. I played up that fact that we'll have a "special moment" before all the craziness for just us. I wish I had more advice!!

Has anyone used the resort-approved photographers?  We're just interested in some basic, professional photos-  nothing too extensive or artsy, just enough to document the event.  I don't want to go to the trouble or expense of bringing our own and paying the outside vendor fees.  I'm thinking of getting one of the resort-approved photographers, but only have the packages/pricing to go on.  Has anyone had a good or bad experience with them?  Anyone heard anything one way or the other?

Based on the Lomas website, because we're at Azul Beach, I think the approved photographers are: Caribe, Royale, Photo Booth, Magic Vision.

Thanks!

I see, I see!  We are going to have the ceremony on the beach, so I am concerned with them tearing down the ceremony site and having the cocktail reception overlooking (they suggested I have the cocktails on the beach)......so I am thinking maybe having it elsewhere...not sure where though.

Because we are going in October....are you concerned with the temperature at night?  I am nervous that our guests are going to be cold.

I would LOVE to meet up for a drink....  cheers.gif

We're doing cocktails at Zavas b/c we can't stay up on the sky deck for too long. It was our only option really :/ and I want to stretch the day out as long as possible....it's going to be over so fast! We'll need to get a drink or something when we're both there!

And totally feel free to check ours out on the 22nd!

We did the ceremony on the beach and cocktails directly after. They did not tear down the site at all while we were there....with the exception of taking the flowers (as per my direction) to be used at the reception site. The white shears and all the chairs were left there until well after we all left. So don't be worried about that. They set up some cocktail tables (tall round ones) just to the right of the ceremony site (about 15 meters down the beach) right in front of the beach bar! Our guests loved this, since we did some photos along the beach, and they got to relax with drinks and watch a little.

As for temperature, even in October it should still be high teens-low 20C in the evening. Guys will be fine with a shirt, and the ladies will be fine with a light cardigan or shawl. But once you start dancing you'll all be sweating anyway! LOL

There is a picture of the set up in my review under the Azul Sensatori, if you want to see.

I don't think I will ever get out of Lurker status! I am still on page 1018 for reading and I seem to get all my questions answered and great ideas from reading so I don't need to post!

Just wanted to thank all of you for all of the great information and ideas you have. This forum has been a life saver for a detail - planner like me :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
