Just wondering why people were looking to other DJs then what they provide?  Was it a tip from another bride that got some of you on Doremixx?  (not that I know who he/she is, but I see others have used them).

I am getting nervous about making these big decisions not hearing/seeing these people....curious how everyone else came to their decisions...

What wedding package did everyone choose?  I am undecided (on a lot of things), but am not sure if it makes sense to do the "free" pkg, and then add all the private reception pieces we want, or just go for a biggie (gold or whatever its called) and if that will be cheaper in the long run?

Wondering what other brides are going with......

I switched to the sweet free package because I compared the packages, and the other packages really offered nothing that the free package offered that I even cared about, except for a bride's bouquet, which certainly isn't going to cost $2500 or more.  What I did is print out a list of all the packages and compared them side by side.  Then I looked at what was offered in the the more expensive package(s) that wasn't offered in the free package, and then figured out if it was worth the extra money.  I figured I was WAY better off starting at zero and building from there than paying a few thousand dollars for basically nothing (and my uncle is a wedding photog, so I don't need that).  The things that are available on the Gold package that are not available on the free package are:  spa hairstyle for bride and haircut for groom, blood test, photographer, logo beach bag, romantic sunset cruise for bride and groom.  If you want all of those things and they are worth $3,500 for you, then go for it.  I think the big thing is the photographer.  Figure out what you want to do for photography and I think you'll have your answer.

You can kind of keep looking at it as you are planning and change your package at anytime if it seems like there is one that might fit you better.  Good luck!

And keep checking out this site.....it will definitely help you figure out what you want/need and what your options are at the resort.  Everybody on here is at various stages of planning, so no need to feel intimidated!!

Fair question! For me, I had done months of research on this site before ever choosing the resort and I had read a lot of good reviews about Doremixx at other properties. Then, when I read a horrible review about the DJ provided by Azul Sensatori, I was scared into requesting a quote from Doremixx. Even with the $500 fee, I'm saving something like $200 so it was worth it to me. The communication I've received has been professional, thorough and quick which makes me more comfortable, even though in a perfect world, I would have sat down with and interviewed multiple vendors before choosing.

And don't be overwhelmed by this site if you can help it...I was when I started and I'm an event planner (almost 7 years at my job)! What has worked for me (and I'm still technically in the beginning stages) is doing not more than 2 or 3 things at a time. First it was about the location/date/time/photographer. Once I had gotten those elements confirmed, we moved onto website/save the dates/colors/theme...and we're almost done with that stage. Next I'll focus on scheduling showers/bachelorette/dress shopping...it's kept everything from becoming overwhelming and in all honesty, it's kept things FUN. Since this process is taking a year of my life and will only last a weekend, I better have FUN with it.

Sorry that I've rambled on, blame the wine I had tonight! Mine and my FI's families had dinner together tonight which is always a good time! Everyone is in a food coma and I'm on this site, ha! :)

I got the Free Sweet Wedding package as well then paid in addition for 2 private events. Money wise it just made more sense for what I wanted. i would say the Free Sweet Package has the basicas of what you need.

My dress is very thin and lace so I am going to put it in the suitcase and steam it when I get there.

Don't stress too much, they will make everything perfect! I will be trying to get my review and planning journal done in the next week.

I had them double as centrepieces.  I loved them.

Free wedding pkg worked best for us.  I created a spreadsheet and compared what was offered in each one compared to what I would still have to add.  In the end - the free wedding suited us much better and saved us money.

My bridal studio packed the dress full of tissue paper to keep the overall shape.  My dress was a simple silk gown and it looked like a big ball gown by the time it was fully packed!!  The airline did the best to try an accomodate the dress in the overhead compartment (yuck) but it still was folded in half.  I pulled it out the day after we got to the resort and it looked absolutely perfect!  The bridal studio I used told me not to steam the dress - just to hang it near a bathroom and run the hot shower - I didn't need to do this.  Also - if you are really worried - the resort offers same day steaming/pressing for brides - and I remember thinking it was cheap.

Did you walk down the ramp in your heels too?  If so, did you need to hold onto the railing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
