Great, thanks ladies for you input!!

Oh, and I posted in a thread about "etsy" showing what items I have bought.  It's a great thread with some really cute ideas if you want to check it out, but be warned ~ IT IS ADDICTING!! cheesy.gif

From what I've heard, Lomas isn't big into "trading" out items from a package.  I think your best bet would be to go with the lowest package and add in from there.  What sort of things were you planning to trade-out?  Maybe we can help give ideas from that.

And has anyone done trades with things in their package that they didn't want?

Because I booked through TA in England we only got choice of silver or gold package and there is alot we don't want.

Candle lit meal (have kids with us)

Manicure (having nails done before I go)

Breakfast in bed (have kids with us)

Dinner and brunch reservation for 40 (going to have private event)

Angie my WC said to let her know what I want to exchange and she will see what she can do!

Hopefully...they can do trades...but I don't think they will.....

You can always do the candle lit meal and breakfast in bed even with the kids....or have the kids go to the kids center during that time...

As for the dinner and brunch...even with a private event...a lot of people use the dinner as the Welcome Dinner/Rehearsal Dinner and the Brunch is a great way to get everyone together one last time before everyone leaves....

I don't think so.  That's the nice thing about being all at the hotel.  I'm going to suggest people meet at one bar in particular if they'd like - or if they'd rather take a break/go back to their rooms for a nap/ go for a swim.  hahaha... whatever they want.  I think breaks aren't really as much of an issue in these circumstances.

Same advice from me regarding times - I guess it depends if you're having a private receptions / where etc.  But I think a couple hours break isn't really a big deal at the resort.  We're going for probably a 1.5 hr. break b/w the end of the ceremony and start of reception.

As for the trades I can't really help you out there.  I was told no trades were permitted but I'm Canadian and we have the free sweet wedding package that we're just adding onto.  Maybe you could talk them into the pearl package?  (Is there still a pearl package?  dunno)

what are some thoughts on escort cards? do you think it'll be too windy to have them out on a table?

I had escort/place cards and wind wasn't an issue for them at all.  The WCs set them up on a table for guests to pick up when they arrived at the reception area.

We have scheduled our reception from 5-9, but i've just realized the bar that near our reception area, is open til 6. Do you think we would be wise to start our reception at 6 to avoid the noise/people? what do ya think?

Thanks!

Our ceremony is at 5pm.  Do you think 7pm is too late to start the reception without a cocktail hour in between?

I saw 2 brides do this during my visit in March and it didn't seem odd at all.  Of course an organized cocktail party would be great...but if you can't afford it, I dont think any guests would know the difference.

Ms. H - I think you could do the same thing for your 2 1/2 hour gap.  Suggest a specific bar for everyone to go to.  Or you could also suggest a cat nap so they can party all night :)

Hello Brides 2 Be:  My ceremony was scheduled to start at 3pm but didn't actually start until about 3:30 and was over around 4pm.  The reception was scheduled for 4:30-8:30 at Zavaz Plaza.  It didn't actually start until 5:15 or 5:30.  I didn't have an organized cocktail party.  Most of the guests gathered at a bar at the Mexican restaurant (can't remember the name right now) and waited for the reception to start.  I do think anything longer than an hour to an hour and a half will cause people to start getting antsy.

Regarding the time the reception starts and whether it should start after the bar closes I really don't think the time it starts will be an issue.  The WCs are great at making your area a private area and guests are pretty respectful as well so you won't have to worry about your reception being interrupted.  And if your reception is at the Plaza Zavaz there really is no bar near that area.  I know it may seem close on the map but it's actually not very close and that area is pretty seculded.  We had people looking at the reception from their balconies but it wasn't like that reception area was blocking a path to a bar.  Hope this helps.

So, my colors are ivory, gold, and very little raspberry.  I am going very classic.  Because of that, I am not doing a lot of extra decorating.  I am just doing flowers through AS and probably some clear lights.  Not really sure what I would share....

Would you ladies like to talk about sharing some stuff? I arrive on May 10th! I am definitely buying sheers for my chuppah. what are everyone's colors maybe we can find a common theme and share the cost?

Definitely just ask for an ENTIRE wedding album.  You dont want to just see his best work, but all of his work.  Then, if you like it, go for it!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
