My TA told me that the chair and table covers were covered with the private reception at the Plaza.

I got the same email. For private events white chair covers and white table clothes are provided. However if you want chair sashes or table runners that is extra. I don't want sashes, but we plan on doing the table runners. I have been quoted $7/runner, with your choice of color. (mind you they don't seem to have samples, so I guess you just hope it's the right color)

I think you can bring your own runners too

We also decided to go with the free wedding pkg even though our TA has a special agreement with the resort to provide another pkg that almost exactly met our needs for 2600.  However, in the end when I teased out the things that I didn't want and things that I wanted - it worked out that the free wedding pkg with upgraged room and our add ons was the same value as the basic junior suite combined the pkg my TA offered.  We decided the room upgrade was important to us.  Best thing I would suggest is to look at each pkg critically - assign value to each item you want (costs from the lomas website); determine if some valueless hold value (i.e,. nice to have vs have to have).  Then look at the lomas site to see what extra stuff you want that the pkg don't provide and add everything up to compare.

Sky wedding - I thought about it too - but in the end I chose the beach because we've always wanted a true beachfront wedding.

I have attached a document with all the private reception sites.

We just booked our wedding for 3/20/10!  I've been reading this board and have found lots of great information, so thanks!  I was just curious, did most of you pick one of the wedding packages (pearl, silver, etc) or did you just pick the free package and then add on the things you need?  Also, how did you choose between the beach or sky location?  I keep going back and forth...decision decisions and I'm just getting started.

Oh, and one more....I see talk about different locations for welcome dinners, cocktail parties, etc.  What are considered the "most desirable" spots?

Thanks ladies!  I look forward to learning from your experiences!

What were you thinking about centrepieces?  I was thinking about ordering the large vases with flowers and using them by the chairs for the ceremony and then having them transferred to the tables at the private reception afterwards - but wondering if it may be too tall???

You can bring whatever you want. There is a fee for setup though (not much though). My concern was the price per runner here was already $5/runner, and then I still have to pack them and bring them down. I also looking in the gazebo fabric, they require 2 sheer fabric pieces each: 12m x 1 1/2m. Well the cost to rent is $100 for white, and the cost was $8/m here, so I would maybe save $20, but have to travel with it and what do I do with it after....Certain things I will buy, others I'll just rent from Lomas.

Not quite sure yet. We are vacationing next week with friends, but I think one day we'll spend in Cancun shopping. Going to see what available. Something simple though. The main thing I am bringing down are the laterns, about 25-30, in white, turquoise and green.

Are you talking about the vases on the Lomas site? I think the ones that stand on the ground would likely be too tall for a table, but not sure we're thinking about the same ones?

Yes - the ones on the lomas site that stand on the ground.  I don't mind the look of tall centrepieces but not sure if it would be overkill.  I'll think I will email them to determine the height - overall and vase alone.

Thats great you have a chance to go to Cancun before the wedding.  Let me know if you see any nice maracas and handmade tequila shot glasses for good prices if you happen to walk by some.   Those were two things we were probably going to pick up for the wedding while there so we can give away something local.

Where are you holding your reception?

I haven't come across many pictures of Zavaz Plaza Gazebo decorated.  Has anyone else?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
