Would it look dumb to have the groomsmen, dads and moms have purple calla lily flowers while FI and I have regular lilies? Thanks for your opinions!

I'm very symmetrical, so since there are 6 openings, I was thinking 3 or 6.  I fear more than that may be too much.  The gazebo itself really is beautiful.  Especially with some christmas lights!

I haven't come across many pictures of Zavaz Plaza Gazebo decorated.  Has anyone else?

Has anyone started thinking about how many of the lanterns to get for the Zavaz Plaza?

Do they put up Christmas lights automatically?  I've only seen a few.  I will start trying to accumulate them to share.  :o)

I'm so excited to find this board....now if I could only figure out how to post on it....hopefully this will work.

We just booked our wedding for 3/20/10!  I've been reading this board and have found lots of great information, so thanks!  I was just curious, did most of you pick one of the wedding packages (pearl, silver, etc) or did you just pick the free package and then add on the things you need?  Also, how did you choose between the beach or sky location?  I keep going back and forth...decision decisions and I'm just getting started.

Oh, and one more....I see talk about different locations for welcome dinners, cocktail parties, etc.  What are considered the "most desirable" spots?

Thanks ladies!  I look forward to learning from your experiences!

Hi there.  You've come to the best place to have all your questions answered.  I think for the packages, it depends on both your budget and what you want.  You will most definitely be "adding onto" whichever package you choose.  As far as your ceremony site, again it's a personal preference.  The sky location is unique and offers beautiful views.  It does come with a price though, so you will have to take that into consideration.

There are plenty of group meeting spots at the resort, but I believe the Zavaz Plaza and the beach are the most popular for receptions.  There's a yoga platform on the beach as well which is nice, but I've heard different answers as to whether it's available for receptions or just cocktails.

Do you have a travel agent?  Have you been assigned a wedding coordinator yet?  You should just start reading, reading, reading this thread.  It's a lot but you will learn so much!

Good luck!

I was thinking of some white Christmas Lights as well. My reception is 5p-9p so I will still have some daily light for part of it

I just emailed my WC with some questions.  I saw a pic of the Plaza with white chair covers and sashes and was wondering if they are standard or if the bride brought those.  I also asked about the Christmas lights so I will post when I hear back.

We will be ordering a bunch of laterns in about a week. Cheapest I have found is at http://www.asianideas.com/10intupala1.html . Including shipping I think I figured it would cost me about $2.75 CDN each. Now I just have to make those 'throwies' (another forum on here about making your own LED/battery pack.)  Right now I am planning on about 20-30 laterns in assorted colors/sizes. We hope to have the staff hang some on the gazebo and the others from the trees.

I have only come across 2 pictures (sorry I can't remember where). They just had pink laterns hanging from everywhere, and it looked great.

Welcome aboard!  I don't know that any sites are more 'desirable' than others. You and your FI have to choose what best suits you and your guests. We originally had booked for the silver package, and after doing much research realized for us, the free package was all we needed, since we are added tons of stuff anyway. (for us the difference came down to the group dinner at Spoon-which we don't want; and the free bridal bouquet and groom boutinerre. I figured it a was worth about $150 for extra flowers in the free package, compared to $950 for the pearl or $2500 for silver) But read the packages carefully, you may find a certain combination works better for you. As well to qualify for the free package, you have to spend more money on your rooms. So depending on the rates you get, it may be more/less expensive.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
