TLGnhci-- thank you so much for responding! I'm still getting the hang of this website :) Do you have a photographer in mind? I wasn't sure what the reviews were on the photographers provided by the resort, or others within the area. That would be amazing if you girls are able to work out a deal, great thinking!

We are getting married April 17th-- a little over 200 days away!

Michelle, the invitation is wrapped in crepe paper.  We had originally wanted to put starfish on there, but they would have been harder to mail, and we wanted to get the invites out quickly (during our booking period.)

For a photographer, we are trying to work out a deal with four of us girls getting married the same week.  I believe we may have three that are "in" so far, so I'm hoping it all works out  The price is great and the photos are amazing.  :o

My TTD is from venus.com.  It was only $30.  When day are you getting married in April?

The invites have been mailed, and as far as I know, they all traveled fine.  They were able to go right in an envelope, and there weren't even any extra charges!

Mahalo, I am doing the exact same colors just the week after you!  Let me know what kind of reply or pics you get from the WC. I emailed her my inspiration pics for some pricing estimates, but haven't heard back from her.  Are you doing a beach wedding?  What color tulle are you using on the ceremony site?  What about chair bows?  I was thinking we may be able to share costs!!

We are also skipping the cake at the resort. I have an amazing "cake lady" I use at home, so we are going to have her make a cake for us at our AHR. She makes a 3 tiered cake (with filling) for 150 people for around $250. Can't beat it. I have heard differing thoughts about the cakes at the resort. They are defintiely pricey, so if you are looking to save money, I say, skip the cake and choose a private buffet dinner that includes dessert!

Here's my two cents on the weather...  We went to Azul for 5 days in September and the forecast said 40-60% chance of rain all 5 days!  We were pretty bummed, but hoped we'd at least get to enjoy the rooms and restaurants.  In the entire 5 days it rained for a grand total of 10 minutes!  Some gray clouds quickly rolled in one of the other days, but they seemed to disappear just as fast.  My fiance went to Cancun in July and the exact same thing happen!

Statistics will show you which months have a greater chance of rain, but since its tropical weather, rain showers tend to come and go quickly.  The only thing to remember is Hurricane season is June 1 - November 30, so as scary as it sounds, you may want to have a small thought in your head of what you would do if a Hurricane happen to head towards Cancun the week of your wedding.

To ultimately answer your question, I wouldn't let the rain statistics dictate which month you get married.  Pick the month that works best for you and your FI!

Hope this helps some.

We have yet to decide on the resort we'll have our wedding at next year but Azul Sensatori is in the top 3. We plan to visit in mid-November to decide for sure.

Question for all of you...I see that there are a lot of Spring brides but that might be too soon for us. What's everyone's opinion on weather in the area and when it's best? We had our hearts set on early October but now I'm reading more and more that talks about a lot of rain during that time. Has anyone been in fall? If October isn't ideal, is June or July totally out of the question? Thanks in advance for your input!

Lol, thanks!!  It just kinda worked out that way.  We are getting to old to be waiting around!! Ha ha.

Where do you live in Maryland?  I'm from Southern Maryland.

Thanks girls for all the advice on the cake.  I feel more comfortable with either doing just a small one to cut, or none at all!  :o)

Oh, and Michelle, who is your "cake lady?"

We are getting a cake. It's expensive...but we really LOVE sweets. We also have a great selection of desserts but still wanted to have a cake.

Do any of our married girls have pics of your cake?

Oh, and my bridesmaid realized that it wasn't fair to me to skip my wedding based on her feelings for another guest, so it's all good now! :o)

Hi Meghan, I requested you as a friend on FB this morning...I would love to see your pictures. I am also planning to use Erik, but have a ton of concerns because I haven't seen much of his work. Thank you so much for coming back to share with us!

I live near Baltimore, but most of my family is in Calvert County (So MD). Small world!

My cake lady's name is Lynne, she works out of her house in Anne Arundel County, and is phemonial! I can't wait to go for another cake testing soon. My FI can't wait either :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
