1. There are tons of different options for receptions with sit down dinners. Your WC from the resort will walk you thru it

2. I would look at several of the packages. They have a free one now as well

3. I think Gi makes their money on a kick back from the resort but I didn't use them as My travel Agent

4. They have a bunch of private event packages - PM you email and I can send you the Banquet Kit - I am having a welcome party and a reception

5. For a vaugue group of pricing check out Lomas Travel. It's a good way to budget but then know you can custom anything

6. I would go to GI if you plan on using them as your travel agent. If you are using another travel agent go straight to a wedding consultant.

Congrats and WELCOME! This thread and ladies are the BEST

Thanks Maggie.  Wedding planning begins!

I'm gettig marriedin 26 days and I just sent my payment in this morning. I tried to send sooner but WC couldnt get answers from Lomas about things and  I wasn't paying until everything was finalized, questions were answered and my detail sheet updated.

I am so thrilled. For 64 guests and a sky deck wedding with coktail recetpion, reception and DJ I am only at $8,000. Ladies, keep pushing, you can negotiate anything, even the chivarly chairs. :)

Yay, so close!!  And wow, how in the world are you managing that one?  If you don't mind sharing your budget, could you send it to me at [email protected]?  That's awesome!!

I'm a newbie...this is my first post. blush2.gif My fiance and I have had a tough time deciding on a location and date, but we are very interested in Azul Sensatori.  Not sure if you ladies can help, but I have a few questions...

1.  We are expecting approx. 50 to 60 guests, can we have a private reception at one of the restaurants (maybe Spoon or Zocalo) without incurring an extra fee?

2.  When choosing the Sky Wedding, do we have to or should we also choose a silver or wedding package although we are interested in a private sit down dinner?

3.  Are the GI Vacation Consultants listed on the site really free of charge?

4.  Do they offer welcome parties/dinners and at what cost?  Will they just allow reservations for all of our guests at a restaurant one night?

5.  Anyone know the cost of center pieces for the tables, additional bouquets for bridesmaids, etc?

6.  For my initial contact requesting info on the resort, should I contact one of the GI consultants or the hotel directly?

Thanks so much!!!!

I was going to reply but then I noticed Maggie Jay responded with great answers!  The GI consultants do have some great incentives to utilize so I would at least check with them, as well as your own travel agent to compare.  And note that with the included dinner, it's just that ~ it's not dancing and a full reception.  For that, you have to pay per head but they have some reasonable pricing for the food served, and I heard it's delicious!!

Well of course...that's just what I paid the resort. With travel, hotel stay, dress, suit. alterations, and the list goes on, I am at about 16k. Just 1k over bidget but still proud to have done it for that wth 65 people. Happy to send my detail sheet if your interested.

Thanks,

Becky

That would be fantastic.  I will email Maria now!  Her pics are great, and our deal is good for two but could be amazing for three!

Hi Tish, Becky, and Jamie!

Trying to contact the site so I can become a vendor! UGH! LOL...I am emailing Tish back and forth so please go through her for questions or you can ask her for my email address or visit my site. I just don't want you to think I am ignoring you on this thread. I feel ridiculous here...I am waiving money out saying I will pay...I am licensed, insured, incorporated, partners with The Knot, Get Married Magazine, WPJA, PPA and award winning...please let me advertise on your site and no response! LOL.

But so I don't upset the website owners...this will be my last post on the thread. I am not one to step on toes. smile41.gif

Thanks girls and if I don't hear from you, I hope you have an AWESOME wedding smile159.gif  This site rocks! ( Really loving these smiley icons. teehee)

Welcome!!!

1. I don't think Spoon is big enough to handle 50-60 guests. Something you should talk to your WC about...

2. You should ask about the FREE Sweet Wedding Package. I know some brides were able to get the FREE wedding package and have a sky deck wedding for maybe additional cost(?).

3. I am using Destination Weddings TA - Gayle Hirsch. She is AWESOME and FREE. She is also GIWC so we were able to qualify for some additional free stuff. Then the resort WC is free.

4. I was told that we can't get dinner reservation for such a big group. If you get the FREE sweet wedding package or silver wedding package, you should be able to make a private dinner reservation at SPOON. Though this reservation was for max 40 or 50 people. You need to check that with WC.

5. The cost of decoration and flowers varies depend on what you want. I have to say they are expensive. We are bringing all the reception decorations with us. My bridesmaids bouquets are $60 each and boutonnieres are $30 each.

6. You should use TA to contact the resort.

I hope this helps. Many of your questions will be answers once you have TA and WC for your wedding.

Oh I think you ladies will all be there a few days after me, I am getting married April 25.  Let me know when you are coming down with your photographer and/or if she doesn't already have 3 weddings to do.  Probably not the right timing but you never know unless you ask and it's worth asking about!  Otherwise I am just getting a photographer from the resort.  Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
